Takata recall: I inherited this car in June and I brought it to huntington Honda to to be sure that all was in order, as I was intending to drive the car from new york to louisiana at the end of the summer to give it to my daughter who lives there. I specifically asked the service advisor, darrell raeburn, if there was an airbag recall on the car. He wasn¿t sure, but after checking with someone else, he said yes, there was both a software and a hardware recall. They performed the software update at that time, and he said the parts for the repair should be in in July. I called the dealership earlier this week to ask the status. I was told there was no recall on my car. I said that was not consistent with what I had previously been told, after which I was then told that the parts were due in the next day, and even though there wasn¿t a recall they could replace the part for me at no charge. I made an appointment for today (July 28), but when I got there, I was told by the service advisor (dave?) that there was no recall on the car and nothing they would do. I just spoke on the phone with craig scelva, who is some type of top service manager. Aside from my complaint about the confusing information and wasted time today, I asked him what the real story is regarding the car and airbag recall. He said there is definitely not a recall, that only if the srs light comes on is there a recall. . Read more...

"takata recall" Honda USA does not honor the NHTSA 16v-056 (corrosion of the ecu unit) air bag recall. They said they would send a remedy letter in the fall of 2016. Never received the letter, and closed their recall campaign. They will not replace the ecu unit unless it's corroded to a point where a warning light comes on. The whole point of the NHTSA 16v-056 recall is to replace the ecu unit, so no corrosion will occur in the future. Honda USA refuses to replace the ecu unit. They bully their dealers not to replace it too. I have never encountered a business that is this deceiving in my life. I' m stuck without any pull or power to have them liable for this issue. Please ,I beg you , please help me NHTSA! there was a litigation that was settled in the past regarding premature wear on the rear brakes. They just replaced one set of rear brakes per litigation, but the actual defect was never addressed and never fixed. The defect is in their braking system . I'm still driving with defective braking, with extremely high anxiety. Honda USA deceived NHTSA and the customers again. Seats are so uncomfortable , it detracts attention away from driving safely on the road.

10 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

Air bag warning light was coming on intermittently starting on approximately 10/6/2014, became permanent 11/02/2014. During that time span side airbag off warning light came on several times for several minutes then turned off and has stayed off excepted when car is turned on and car runs thru diagnostic routine. Had car serviced on 11/13/2014----Honda tech indicated code of 1018, per tech-indicates open or short in system, he was not sure where failure is--and not sure what fee would be to locate and repair failure. Said it could run into the $100's just to locate failure. Considering my side airbag light off light came on and the investigation into sideair bag deployment and recall of tanaka airbags I will wait to see decision and see if srs light comes on for a more precise diagnostic at my next visit to Honda dealer.

12 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

I purchased this car last year and it had over 150000, as I checked the oil I noticed it was low I have added 1 qt in between every oil change. My second problem was durning the winter on the real cold days the starter sounded likt it was hanging up as described as the vtc actuator. My third problem is the warning light on the dash for the air bag has alluminated. I contacted Honda today and they told me the light only comes on after it has been to the body shop? also I have received a claim form for a reimbursable deployment prior to Feb 13 2014. I have not been in a accident and neither has the car. So if there is a claim for the air bag deployment why isnt there a recall for the air bag?.

16 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2012

I struck a vehicle that had stopped suddenly in front of me. I was able to decelerate to about 30 mph before the collision. Driver's front air bag deployed with such force, or with such incorrect timing, that I sustained a complete and partially displaced fracture of the sternum. In searching the medical literature, this is an injury usually associated with not wearing a seat belt, which I was, or with striking the steering wheel, which I did not. There had been no prior illumination of air bag warning lights, other than the test illuminations when the car is started.

17 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2012

The warning light on the dashboard panel is warning that the passenger airbag as deployed. At the same time the "fasten seatbelt" warning stopped working and the seal around the passenger window is loose. Coincidentally, a relative also has a 2008 Honda Accord and the exact same things are happening. According to many internet entries, the same thing is happening to many 2008 Honda Accords. I cannot find information on a recall. It is a safety hazard, because some owners have reported the airbag deploying while driving.
