36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

The engine developed a loud knock during use. The knock was very loud when the car was idling. It is a v6 and had 104k miles. Honda diagnosed the problem as the front camshaft lobe for cylinder 6 had significant wear and the camshaft had to be replaced. They would not accept responsibility by admitting the part was defective. The only way 1 lobe could deteriorate that much was if it had not been heat treated in the manufacturing process.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

I bought a Honda on quite a few referrals because they were supposed to be solid cars that last. I had actually been having issues with the engine, in one form or another, a couple years after I bought it. I would take it in and it would be fixed (?). Until a few months ago when the engine and traction lights would go on for a few days then off, then back on, then of again. The final time they went on they were blinking and my car was acting very sluggish, it was not getting a lot of power so I took it in to a Honda dealer for a diagnostic. After picking my self up off of the floor from the estimate that they gave me, I took their print out to another repair center, that rhymes with, hirestone, because they had taken care of a few things in the past and had great customer service and comparable pricing. One week later, my engine and traction light came back on and I flipped out! I took it back to 'hirestone" and they took it in and a few hours later, here I am reading about the lawsuit with Honda over the excessive oil usage deal. Now I will be super inconvenienced to find a way to take my car in to a dealer for a couple hours for my 3rd oil change in about 3-4 weeks so they can monitor the usage and determine if I qualify to have the piston rings replaced, a 1-2 day job. Also come to find out that if it is the lawsuit issue, american Honda does not offer a rental car for me while they are fixing "their" faulty issue. I didn't ask for this headache, they knew about it a few years ago. They should pay for everything!! urggggggg!!!!.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2016

I am wanting to know about any recall on the vtc actuator. This is a known problem and my car is now making that noise at start up. I know alot of people with the same issue and I think Honda needs to be responsible and get this problem fixed. This has been going on for about 3 weeks.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

Vtc actuator failure on cold starts numerous times.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

I received a letter from Honda stating that my car may have a defect in the pistons, and/or piston rings that causes excessive oil usage. As a result of this Honda would diagnose and repair the problem but only up to 125,000 miles. At the time I received the letter my car had 150,000 miles. I have noticed excessive oil usage in my 2010 Honda Accord when compared to my 2004 Honda Accord with the same 2. 4 liter 4 cylinder engine. The 2010 requires oil frequently but the 2004 rarely requires oil between oil changes. I called Honda of America on 2 separate occasions and spoke to 3 different people after I asked for my case to be escalated to a higher level. They have refused to do anything for me. My opinion is that no manufacturer should be able to shirk their duty to repair or replace a known defect. Especially when I have evidence that shows their arbitrary choice of extending the engine warranty to 125,000 miles is nonsense. My 2004 Accord has more miles than the 2010 but doesn't require oil between oil changes. That tells me that the 2010 with fewer miles may suffer from this known defect that Honda has a responsibility to repair regardless of the miles on the car.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Consumes a quart every 150 miles hah to replace spark plugs twice.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The past two times I have brought the car in for an oil change I have been told that the oil level is below the dipstick. Both times I have brought the car in for an oil change with 20% oil life showing. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes gets "blocked". That is the only way I can describe it, you go to shift and cant get into gear, either have to go back to 2nd or back to neutral and then back in. The "double pump shift" usually works. I have also had a problem with the speaker deck rattling which I had supposedly fixed under warranty but only to have the same problem.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

Engine type 3. 5 I vtec v6 - the engine light and traction control light came on. At the time I did not know that there was a class action suite on this problem and other Honda vehicle's with this engine. I drove the rest of the way to work and called my dealer. I had it towed to a Honda dealer near my work they told me that a had a engine miss fire on cylinder number one, they replaced the spark plug and did a engine software update. If this would happen again they would rebuild the upper end of the motor at there cost. They gave me a 8 year extension warranty until 2018, unlimited miles for this problem only. I was told by the mechanic that this fix works on the majority of the cars, but didn't feel that this one would be one that it works on. . . Since it consumed two quarts of oil. I have driven this car for 3,500+ miles since the repair and it is running great. Does anyone know the % of this fix working.

Engine cut out at highway speed on freeway. Would only restart after coming to a stop and waiting a few minutes then retrying. This has happened previously after which dealer changed a sensor, this time dealer said this was a known software problem. Surely there should be a recall loosing all power on the freeway could be deadly.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

Oil light started coming on at that point. My car wasnt due for an oil change. Was hearing the pistons in the engine when I would start driving the car. I checked oil and it showed no oil. I would have to put in 2 to 3 quarts of oil. This has been happening and is still occuring to this day 2015. I have mentioned this to dealer and they claimed nothing is wrong. I just received a warranty extension from Honda and I am just about close to the 125,00 mileage that they extended the warranty to. It is a shame that they are contacting me about this years later.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

Floorboard/vibration shake at 22mph and 72mph. Brake pulsation - dealer turned rotors, replaced rotors, and still have brake pulsation. We have had numerous problems with our Honda crosstour - normal acceleration at 22mph gas pedal, brake, floorboards shake. When cruising at 72mph or going down slight decline entire car shakes. Brakes were pulsating at 4896 miles, 10k miles, 18k miles, and still are not correct at 20k miles. What dealer has done so far - Jul 2011 - turned rotors, road force balanced tires/wheels - no improvements with vibration at 22 and 72 mph - dealer wanted to wait for donor parts to replace drive shaft assembly (we waited 4 months) - Honda TSB drive shaft assembly 29 oct 2011 - complained about vibration at 22 and 72mph again, and brake pulsation, dealer replace front axles - no improvements - and replaced front rotors. 18 Jul 2012 - complained about vibration at 22 and 72 mph, and brake pulsation again - dealer replaced rotors - dealer balanced tires and wheels again. August/September 2012 - Honda regional rep came in - road force balance tires again -swapped out front tires and rims, shutdown vcm, swapped out computer no improvements - vibration/shudder still present at 22mph and 72mph- brakes still pulsating 24 sept 2012 - national Honda rep came in checked valve tolerances - cylinder 5 valves tight causing misfires - didn't improve vibration/shudder replaced axles again, replaced torque converter engine vibration is better at 22mph but worse at 72 mph - cruising and much worse going down declines. Brakes are still not correct. Our car / engine has been shaking severely for a long time and we are worried about our safety - that something may come loose and cause us to lose control of the vehicle getting hurt or hurting someone else. Honda has not been posting these TSB's publicly.

Usually I will start my car and start rolling out of a parking lot. Always before I can get out of the parking lot and get up to speed (usually under 20mph and 1500-2000rpm), I get a short (1-2 second) loud and strong vibration that I can feel from the gas pedal.

Engine rpms go up when stopped or barely moving if steering wheel is moved. Has gotten worse and it now has 5200 miles. No luck with dealership. Say it normal for the rpms to go up if you move steering wheel. Supposed to call factory and call me no phone call yet.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2010

I leased a 2010 Honda Accord. Two days later as I was driving down the highway, the engine suddenly shut down along with all the dashboard instruments. Everything went black inside. A truck traveling behind me nearly missed hitting me and I avoided a very serious accident. The dealership has had the car for one week and is saying the computer they are hooking the car up to is not coming up with any problems and there is nothing wrong with the car. I am being put in a dangerous situation by driving a car that has not been fixed. There is obviously something very wrong.

60 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2010

My 2010 Honda Accord is loud when starting, sounds like a race car. It also does not stop on a dime and in fact speeds up as I apply the brakes. Thirdly, the revs are too high and lastly, the gear shifts on acceleration is not smooth at all and sounds like the car is pushing too hard to change gears! these problems happen all the time. I took to dealer month ago saw nothing. Only had car two months!!.
