My airbag light is on in my 2013 Honda Accord and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the takata recall. My car was just sitting in the drive way the next morning I came out and the airbag light was on and won't go away now.
I bought the car new with very low mileage (maybe 200 miles). From the time I bought it or very shortly afterwards, the red air bag light was lit on the dashboard. I thought it was normal because it was a brand new car. Then I started focusing on it and noticed that sometimes it wasn't on but most of the time it was. I inquired about it when I took it in for the 5,000 mile oil change and was told there was faulty wiring and the air bag unit needed to be replaced.
My vehicle struck another vehicle in front of me from behind. Airbag lights came on yet did not deploy. Impact caused damage to my chest by the seatbelt. It caused a tissue expander implanted in my right breast to be damaged and ripped out the places stitched to me. The te was there as part of a breast cancer reconstruction process. Surgery was required to remove and replace the te. The front end of the vehicle was damaged, sensors needed replacement, and seatbelt structure also needed replacement.
I purchased a brand new 2013 Accord ex-l on Tuesday morning, during the test drive I noticed the air bag light on, I was told OH this is the passenger air bag deactivation light, as this car has so many features I thought ok, loved the car and bought it, then before I pulled off the lot I read the book and it said this was to total falure of the srs system air bags, I went back in to the dealership and told them, they took it back to the service dept. And 11 hours later they said the airbag unit in the seering wheel had failed and because this is a saftey issue I could leave with the car we will give you a rental, and I could pick my car up in a day or 2, I said ok, then that day turned into another then another, then after me driving back to the dealer ship and waiting another 4 hours while they figured out what to do I was told that the part Honda has not even realeased yet, and the realese date is June 4th, I was livid, I told them they need to put me in another one, that this was very unprofesional because this was the 4th Honda I got from them, they told me they like to try and fix it, I said by the time I get it my first payment on the car would almost be due, they said well let me see if we can figure something out, call us next wednsday and talk to them again, I am so mad that Honda does not even make these parts available on a car that has been out for 8 months, I left in teh rental and called Honda and was told they normally do this on newr cars, but we will give you call back after the holiday, to date still waiting on my car that I have never even got to take home, someone needs to inform Honda that they need to have these part available when the cars are.
