general problems of the 2013 Honda Accord - part 2

At 5 years old my Honda Accord will now only start on the first time about 50% of the time. This started about a month ago. The interior lights and radio all power on but the car will not turn over. Sometimes it takes me several times/minutes to start. I had to change my battery $176 & now the key fobs too and this still occurred. This has 411,000 results if googled. This is very common although Honda continues to not recognize this as an issue. Please look into this!.

The battery and the electronic starter were replaced several times however, the failure persisted. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Trouble starting car. Changing battery did not help.

I have 2013 Accord lx 55k miles, and had intermittent starting problem from last few months, doesn't matter if it's cold or hot, sometimes it just doesn't start. I leave it alont for about a min or two with key out and then it'll start, sometimes longer. Battery is not the problem and I've already taken to the dealership to have them check the battery and the starting system. Checked out ok, they couldn't duplicate. Anybody else have this problem? now it won't start at all. I found the recall is for v6 models only. What should I do at this point?.

Starter failed, and we were stranded at the new market post office for an hour. The battery is good, but Honda mechanic said the starter is failing. We replaced the starter engine, and the car starts up good every time. It cost $515 to replace starter engine. Honda refused to pay for defect, because the car is past warranty.

I got no warning and the car would start and then die. I looked on the net and this problem has happened with other Honda's. I had run an errand and wasn't gone longer than 5 minutes. -.

I purchased new a 2013 Honda Accord 4 cyl in August 2013 which had the battery sensor replaced at 26,010 miles in October 2017. Shortly thereafter, I started experiencing an intermittent starting problem. When I turn the key, the dash lights turn on as normal, but the engine does not turn over or even crank. While this does not happen all the time, it happens frequently and it can take between 2-6 tries before it finally starts at home or anywhere I traveled. Aaa jumped me once too. Dealer said to switch keys as it may be the immobilizer sensor in my key. Then December 2018 at 32,935 miles, dealer recommended I replace the battery which I did, but issue continued, July 2019 at 36,555 miles, dealer performed diagnostics stating the starter was bad but there wasn't a recall and it's more than 36 months so out of warranty. Dealer does not apply the cost of the diagnostics against the repair. Total cost for diagnostics, starter and tax was $889. 47. Plus the dealer sold me a refurbished starter with a 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty stating a new starter only carries a 12 month warranty. Almost $1k is a lot of money for one repair for a senior citizen for a car with 36k miles. Appears this is a common issue so Honda motor CO should recall the starter and provide reimbursement to those who had to have it replaced to avoid being stranded.

My 2013 Honda Accord sport experienced engine starting problem. Sometimes it took 3 or 4 times to turn the key to get the car started. I took the car to the sunnyvale Honda dealer for diagnostic and they told me it was the starter problem. It costs me $936 to replace the starter including parts and labor. I can't believe that my car is only about 4 years old with less than 40k mileage having the starter issue that needs to be replaced. What a shame with the Honda brand!!!.

Bought 2013 Honda Accord sedan sport on 06/13. I just reached the 32000miles and my starter is slipping and causing me to turn the ignition a few times before it starts. I strongly believe there may be a fault on the product or installation of part.

At times the car will not start when the ignition key is turned. It will start on the second turn. On 11/17/2017 , it did not start on the second try. I called for a tow truck . The driver arrived and after turning the key multiple times , the car started. He stated that it is the starter and to have it checked.

Starter is bad will not start brought car to a mechanic. He recommended me to get a new starter. Checked battery and alternator well within working parameters.

Car caught fire starting in engine compartment. Was stopped at a stop light, in left turn lane, when smoke was first noticed. I got out of the car and fire progressed in a few minutes to where flames were coming out from under the hood. Local fire company extinguished the fire. Car appears to be a total loss. Safety recall NHTSA 17v-418 was only recently received and had not yet gotten the car to the dealer.

Since last fall, engine does start only after multiple tries of pushing the button. Lately we need a lot more tries before starting the car. Based on the symptoms on file, it looks like it is the starter.

My car is 2013 Accord bought brand new from gardena Honda and no other mechanic touched it. Since 2013, I have serviced my car at the same location. My car was perfectly fine however, once I received the battery recall letter I decided to take my car into gardena Honda. Please note my car still has less than 30,000 miles on it. August 2017 I went to get my car checked for the battery recall they said everything was fine and that they applied konshi bond to protect bms. Two days later after work my car did not start (stationary). Check engine was on, check steering light on & traction light on plus low pressure on. I immediately felt unsafe to drive my car but had to take it back to Honda to see what they had done to it. Honda said it was not their fault and that now the problem had nothing to do with my battery. Instead, it was my engine wire harness. That needed to be fixed for a price of ~$2,800 but they could lower it to $669. 15 + tax I just want to express how disappointed I am in Honda. I bought a Honda because they are supposed to be a reliable car. Back in March 2016 they told me by battery failed the battery test and decided to charge it. November 2016, they made me buy a new battery, at that time my car was still brand new with only 22,000 miles on it. I don't believe this is coincidence. I got a Honda for reliability reasons. I also know you are not supposed to service the car for the same issue 3 times and I shouldn't be concern of my 2013 Honda car that still has less than 30,000 miles of any electrical issues. I am concern of service fraud because I was charge to recharged and replace the battery. One time I was within warranty and the other was just a few months afterward. I am requesting a reimbursement of some manner; it can be monetary or free servicing my car.

For the last month I have to put the vehicle key into the ignition 4-7 times to start the vehicle. Today, I took my vehicle to pep boys auto parts in el paso, TX and they diagnosed the vehicle having problems with the starter. The mechanic told me that I need to change the starter because it is wearing out and is a rarity because it is not suppose to happen to a Honda Accord that is only 3 + years old. I have a 2011 Chevrolet tahoe and all engine parts are operating normally. Unbelieveable that my Honda Accord is breaking down on me. Please look into this and let me know if there is a recall.

Starter problems, car starts then does not start, stationary.

I've own my car for for 1 and 1/2 years and it's dead for the 4th time I had the battery replaced a month after buying the car and am still having problems with it I don't know if it is the starter? it was parked at work for 4 hours then I moved parking spots and shut it off turned back on 10 minutes later to close windows and it's dead.

My care is consuming too much oil. Oil light warning does not come on.

For the last year, the car has been unable to start after parking it for a few minutes. Usually after a few key turns it will start. A month ago it would not start at all so we towed it. The dealership decided it was the starter. After 37,000 miles? it's a Honda! it worked fine for 5 weeks and then it died again after being driven just a few miles. This time the dash lights flashed and clicked for a few minutes but would not start. After towing it, the dealership hooked it up to a jumpstart and it started! three lights continued to flash so the dealership hooked it up to the computer. I called them a couple days later and they have no answers. I hate letting my wife drive an unreliable vehicle.

My 2013 Honda Accord ex started experiencing problems with intermittent starting around 45,000 miles. The dealership is aware of the starter problem, but charged me over $800 to repair it with a new starter button. I was told without repair this problem would get worse till the car would not start at all.

My transmission fluid was very low so I took it in to the dealership to get it checked out. Prior to this my brother drove my car and said it was not going into gears smoothly. When I took it into the dealership the representative said low transmission fluid can make the car run not too smooth. He did mentioned that there was a notice for a foul spark plug and told me to drive the car for a few days and if the problem doesn't fix itself then to bring it back in so they can look further into the problem. My concern is if I have a recall and I am having problems that could be caused by a faulty spark plug shouldn't they automatically bring my car in and replace the spark plugs? on your site it appears that I have had two recalls for my vehicle. Not once have I been notified by the dealership. This is new to me. I'm not familiar with this process. Can you please give me some guidance? thank you, concerned customer.

Intermittently, maybe 30-50 times in total in the 112k miles I've driven the car, when you depress the brake and push the start button, all the dash lights come on, but the starter does not turn. There a noise of an electrical switch turning in the dash, but I don't think it is the starter solenoid. I replaced the battery, but that didn't help. I've read of a brake switch not telling the starter it was okay to start, but haven't checked that. I've read Honda replacing the starter, but I haven't done that. Some posts say replace the start switch.

When starting the car with the push button, about 50% of the time the engine does not start, there is a noise like static. Looked on the internet and it appears that many many people have this problem on the 2013 Accord. 99. 9% of the time they have to replace a defective starter at $800. Honda should step up and resolve this dangerous situation where the car does not start. This really is a safety issue.

2013 Honda Accord won't start. Lights, a/c, radio, windows work. This occurred after 50,000 miles. I would have to turn steering column at first to get it to start. Now it doesn't start at all! the vehicle is stationary.

Battery terminal corrosion - the factory battery had severe corrosion problems after 2 yrs (unlike any of my other 3 cars). On the third year it died and was replaced with a aaa battery. After 6 months this battery is also showing corrosion. This seems to be a common issue after doing google searches. What's worse is the positive batter cable is not an easy nor economical replacement once the corrosion finds its way inside. I believe the corrosion is happening because of the 'Smart charging system' Honda is using on this vehicle. Never seen this problem in my 30+ yrs of owning dozens of cars.

While parking, but stopped, the car sped out of control. Foot brake and hand brake failed to stop the speeding car. It leaped over a curb and into a retention pond. The doors refused to unlock. Driver and passenger escaped thru windows and onto the roof. Previously, the unattended car had locked itself and windows and sunroof had opened on several occasions the two fobs were on cup hooks in the house. Honda shows no interest.

Oct 11, 2016, I drove the kids to school and parked the vehicle on the street. After walked then class, I returned to the vehicle. The car did not start on the first try, second try, but it started on third try. Since purchased, I replaced battery twice due to the above reasons. I had battery checked and it's still good. Please investigate.

Two weeks ago my Accord began having issues starting. After a few attempts the engine would eventually start and I would be on my way. Until last Friday, August 26, 2016. I drove to a friends house, parked, came back out to start my car and would hear a "popping" sound like the engine was trying to start up, but to no avail. Friend's neighbor is a retired auto mechanic. He looked at the car and found that the issue was not the battery, and determined it was the starter itself. Almost magically, the car randomly decided to start again. Drove it straight to an additional auto mechanic, he tested the vehicle (battery, cable connections, wires that attach to starter) and also found that the issue was the starter. My Accord has 66,000 miles on it. The total cost to fix this issue will be $680, kind of ridiculous. This seems to be a common issue from what I've read. Please investigate.

I parked vehicle on residential city street. Returned to the vehicle 15 minutes later and vehicle would not start. Many of the indicator lights came on. Called aaa, initial technician responded and could not start the car by jumping with battery pack. Battery tested ok. Tow truck was called, operator tried to jump the vehicle again with battery pack and the vehicle started. Tow truck operator suggested I tell the dealership he suspected the starter or the wiring to the starter was the problem. A/c prior to this event had been working now had no power. Drove the vehicle immediately to dealership. Vehicle was left and diagnosed with faulty starter. Fuse was blown to a/c. (we did note that the car had been harder to start recently - having to turn the key more than 1 time to get the car to start. Still this was hardly noticeable or apparent that a problem was developing. ) starter and fuse to be replaced at dealership will be picking up car hopefully today. This was not merely inconvenient and unpleasant but extremely dangerous emergency for persons with health/medical issues - it was very hot out with poor air quality and passenger and myself were stranded and without a/c for 4 hours. Concerned about this happening again and why this happened. Vehicle is maintained, 3yrs old with approx. 35,000. I am seeing numerous similar/identical reports from other owners.

I am the first owner of my 2013 Honda Accord sport and 2 months ago I developed an issue with the starter. I've replaced the starter twice and tonight got stranded and had to call a tow truck to bring it home. I've gone to the Honda dealer and, of course, there's an issue with the starter, but it will cost $1000+ to fix! this issue must be investigated and recalled as soon as possible. Honda is fully aware of all of these issues and if you get the right technician at the dealership - they'll tell you Honda is fully aware, but couldn't care less! 2 starters later - I'm still in the same position!.

Intermittent engine starting. Starter is energized but fails to start motor. A loud gnashing or grinding can be heard as the starter tries to turn motor. It sounds as if the starter doesn't fully engage the flex plate/flywheel. Engine eventually starts after several (as many as 10) attempts. The problem is not consistent with any condition. I've driven 2 weeks with no issues then will have 5 episodes in 2 days. A completely random occurrence but very frustrating and embarrassing.

Push start failure my car had 50000 miles on it when it started having trouble with the push start button. It did it once a week sometimes and eventually happened every time I tried to start the car. I took it to a mechanic and they were unable to pin point the problem. The starter checked out ok but since they could not find any other problem, they replaced the starter and kept the original incase I continued to have the problem they could return the original and give me my money back. It's been two weeks and so far I havent had the problem anymore. Only time will tell.

The key turns over but engine does not crank.
