210 problems related to electrical system have been reported for the 2014 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2014 Honda Accord based on all problems reported for the 2014 Accord.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while starting the vehicle in the morning or after stopping and parking the vehicle, the contact had difficulty to start the vehicle. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery and starter motor needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced but not the starter motor. The vehicle was partially repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
I had several warning light appear on the dashboard, and the dealership said that my vsa modulator was starting to go bad. This device controls power steering, anti-lock brakes and other functions. While driving to the Honda service department, the brakes were very low and the steering was loose (dangerous conditions). After doing some research, I found that Honda recalled the vsa modulator on other models, but not for my 2014 Accord. Many other owners of the same model stated that their vsa modulators failed around 34k-36k miles (right at the end of warranty). I still have the original vsa modulator, the dealer just reset the warning lights and sent me on my way. I am writing to request an investigation for Honda to extend the vsa modulator recall to more models, such as the 2014 Accord.
The vsa abs modulator failed, and it will be available for inspection upon request. The failure of this causes the abs system to not work along with traction control. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic that pulled the codes and then taken for an estimate to the Honda dealer who confirmed the issue with the modulator. There are 4 warning lights in addition to the "fcw system failed" message on the dash. The abs light, traction control, fcw, and tire pressure indicator lamps all display and cannot be cleared. The fcw system failed message cannot be cleared to be able to see other maintenance that is due such as an oil change or to view current mileage. The message and warning lights just popped up unexpectedly while pulling into to parking spot. For a brief time, the steering wheel would shake while driving making it appear that there was another issue, but there was not.
Ldw, fcw, brake, abs, etc. Lights flashing. After much research it appears this is a known problem that affects thousands of Honda vehicles. I have found that the vsa module is responsible- the solenoid is bad. This part needs to be replaced but is on back order with an unknown date when it will be available. Honda has been aware of this problem for many years!! this is a safety issue and is unsafe to operate this vehicle. As there are no replacements available there is no other option but to drive it as I need my car. If an accident occurs due to this part malfunctioning it will be Hondas responsibility due to the fact that they have known this is a problem and that there are no replacements available!!.
Rear view (back up) camera stopped working.
Multiple lights on dashboard: abs, eps, parking brake, vsa, tpms. Lights were intermittent at first, then became permanent. Car still runs and drives fine but abs and traction control do not function. Local mechanic scanned for codes and found the following: 121-11 vsa solenoid valve malfunction 81-20 central processing unit internal circuit malfunction 85-01 vsa system malfunction local mechanic has seen this before and recommended replacement of the vsa modulator valve assembly (part number 04571-t2f-l01). Repair has not been completed. Transmission died (cvt belt broke) at around 195,000 miles and about 6 months after vsa system issue started. Unsure if the problems were related. Car now has a new transmission.
I was on a busy highway, going uphill. The car suddenly decreased speed to 40 mph for about 60 seconds. The car then lost all acceleration with the gas engine still running. Dash warning said "power system failure". I was able to maneuver the car to the side of the road and call aaa to have it towed to the Honda dealership. Dealership repair center was unable to find a problem.
The power steering seemed to have gotten "stuck" in place or so it felt or seemed for a short time while driving. I have noticed that when I am turning the wheel that I can hear noise when turning as if it's not moving smoothly. If my power steering stops working while driving or gets stuck, then that could pose a serious problem to me and other drivers. The problem is daily now with the sound of every left or right turn. This component has not been inspected by anyone yet. There weren't any warnings.
The abs, vsa, eps, and the parking brake systems began to appear on my dashboard. After diagnostics, it appeared that the vsa modulator was failing to provide all these components that are needed for safety in all driving conditions. After doing some research, I came to know that the modulator failure is very common in the Honda Accord models from year 2010 and above. Yet, Honda has yet to recall vehicles for this issue that affects the brake and steering systems. So far, the lights continuously appear and disappear. However, there is a huge difference when the intermittent lights appear. The car swerves too easily on rainy days when running through a puddle on the street. Even on windy days, sometimes it cannot handle when I am driving against the wind. The car's steering system feels too vulnerable and sensitive when these lights are on given that I have none of that systems providing the extra safety components. I fear that one day when I have to brake suddenly to prevent I crash, I will lose control instead and cause a fatal accident. The part is too expensive and total costs can reach up to $3,000 or more, and like everyone else who has reported this issue. I cannot afford to repair it as of now, but will need to be on a day where the financials can support the repair.
I filed a complaint on 3/28/2022 regarding the ignition starter, original request 588668, sometimes the car starts and then it doesn't and I had the starter replaced (with Honda parts), however now this ignition starter is doing the same. I was told that the wires get corroded and hence the starter needs to be replaced. I find this to be a hazard, what happens if the engine just stops??? I feel Honda should have had a recall on this, as I researched this on the internet and I found numerous articles about this issue. For a new starter it cost me a little over six hundred dollars,($600. 00) with no reimbursement. My 2nd complaint number is 501018. I feel your department should look into this matter, as everyone does not have the finances to go out and purchase a new vehicle. I am sole owner and driver of my car. Thank you, linda j. Fazio.
The starter fails to work. This was an unsafe situation while parked in a store parking lot at night. Vehicle starter was inspected by Honda technician who identified the starter failed. There was no warning signs, no dash engine light sign. This issue did not show up on the diagnostic that was recently done on my car during routing maintenance. The battery in my vehicle is new. I've not missed any regular maintenance on my vehicle since I purchased it in 2014 and the car is well taken care of and clean.
The starter failed after only 35,000 miles. It is available for inspection upon request. Problem was diagnosed and starter replaced by firestone car care in late November 2022. Problem first detected in early November 2022 and became increasingly frequent that the car would not start. Was stranded a few times and other times had to try starting the car multiple times over the course of several minutes. No warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to failure. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, manufacturer or insurance agent.
The vehicles abs control module has been an issue with this vehicle. This needs to be recalled because a bad abs module can behave erratically, making your brakes lock up even under normal braking, compromising my families safety. It was confirmed today at the Honda dealership, in which I questioned, “how does this happen to a vehicle with less than 100k miles? if this is a safety concern why isnt there a safety recall?” at that time, the representative became unaware why there wasn’t a recall. The vehicle has been inspected by Honda. Yes, the vehicle light sensors are produced: brake light abs light traction control power steering all that compromise safety. Please assist.
For the second time the starter needs to be replaced. First failure car had 33,097 miles on it. Now informed that I again need a new starter and car has 67,136 miles. First time the vehicle was just over 36 months and cost approximately nine hundred dollars to repair. Safety concern due to unreliability of vehicle leaving owner stranded and informed this is a common problem with this model.
Very scared I am financing this vehicle in my finance and company never worn me that my car was having the problems it have. I have major issuses with that one because my children are little and can not send for themselves hurt mainly I found out my car had recall issuses on my own so not cool. No one want them there children or themselves in harms way!!!.
I have a push start and sometimes the car will not start. You then wait a min or so and try again and it will work. You push the button and the car does not start. Then you turn off the accs then wait and push the button again and it will start.
2014 Honda Accord (bought new June 2014). Replaced original starter 6-5-22 @70,500 miles. Replacement starter failed 6-14-22. Second starter installed 6-15-22. As of 6-26-22 the starter grinds and will not start intermittently . Top quality starters installed both times.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? computer system firmware, available for inspection, currently at dealership. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? multiple dashboard functions not functioning at random. Appears related to a firmware update provided under another recall (bulletin 15-055:6zs00eps software update). It is suspected due to timing of incident onset, beginning the day after service. Firmware was installed by dealership service dept. It is unknown at this time all of the buttons affected. Since buttons on steering wheel are affected, and cruise control is also located there, this could pose a severe hazard if cruise control does not respond to a disable request. Cell phone, radio, display change functions do not work from dashboard. There was a follow up software update (on same eps system) performed by dealership on June 30, 2020 that improved condition for one day, returning to same issues on the 2nd drive. Details of this update: previous version: 39990-t2f-a010 update program: 39990-t2f-a020 program part number: 39990-t2f-3050-m1in control module 39980-t2f-a014 has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Jim at the dealership confirmed the issue within 30 seconds of his investigation. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, dealership service center. Will be at dealership 2022-07-11 to 2022-07-15 (estimated) were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no prior indication until a dashboard function is used. First appeared 2022-05-17.
Car will randomly not start. Initially, the no start condition occurred once every couple of weeks. After a month or so it was happening multiple times a week. The car became so unreliable I was forced to get it repaired. Independent repair shop quoted me $350 for the starter repair (parts and labor). Multiple Honda service departments quoted me between $750 - $850 for the same repair. Each of the service managers from the three Honda dealers I spoke with told me that aftermarket starters did not perform well in this vehicle. After doing some research, this seems to be the case. I ended up replacing the starter at a Honda dealer whose service manager worked with me to get the final price to $650. This is a common problem with this vehicle and the repair cost me an extra $300 because the aftermarket starters are unreliable in this vehicle.
2014 Honda Accord on its 3rd starter replacement, my last one only lasted 2 years. This is absolutely ridiculous this isn’t a recall because of how many complaints there are on this model and the fact that this is a Honda vehicle. Very disappointed. Will never buy a Honda again.
The back-up camera is no longer working.
The eps system has an issue that caused my car to stop on the highway. I was able to move to the side of the road but the car was jerking back and forth. The engine light and tire pressure sensor also infighter.
When trying to start the vehicle, sometimes the starter functions and sometime it doesn't. The car key has to be pulled out and inserted again and maybe this will start the car. After researching on line, this seems to be a common problem, but a recall has not been issued for this. This problem happens even after installing a new battery. Thank you.
Driving home from work on an icy road, the steering failed. The car would not turn left or right, I was on a highway, driving at 55 mph and had to stop the car. The dashboard lit with a steering fault indicator, after the failure. My safety was greatly endangered by the sudden failure, with no steering control I have had the entire steering rack replaced by my local repair shop. The selling dealer was not interested in any concessions to me, nor any admission of an existing service bulletin. I have the failed steering rack in my possession.
The problem is with the ignition starter, I had it replaced in January 2022 because sometimes the car did not start when pressing the ignition starter there was a grinding noise. All other functions worked, headlights, radio, signals etc. But the car did not start. If the battery was jumped then the car started so there is power going to the car. After the replacement I had no issues until Sunday 3/27/2022 when I went to start my vehicle and got the grinding noise again. The cost was $550. 00 to put in a new starter. Now this issue is all over Honda's website with complaints, so why hasn't anything been done about it? the wires need to have protection on them because of corrosion caused by winter conditions in the north where there is salt used on the highways. I feel a recall should be done on these models.
Ignition starter, I replaced the starter in January 2022, now it is doing the same - not starting sometimes. So many complaints on this issue and still no recall, why?.
The rear view camera turns black when put in reverse.
The car randomly doesnt want to start. Its not the only time its happen. It has happened at least 15 times and I had only had this car for like 4 months.
While driving the vehicle, stalling, and braking hard the electronic power steering, vehicle stability assist, forward collision warning, antilock braking system, lane departure warning and parking brake indicator lights all activated. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who diagnosed a faulty vsa modulator control unit. When I attempted to order the part we were informed that the part is backordered 3-6 months.
Starter not working all the time. Will not start engine. Constantly doing oil changes. Battery replacements too often. Won’t start.
Starter grinds or spins at startup: the starter grinds or spins at startup resulting failure in cranking up the vehicle. This issue first appeared around 70k mileage. This is an intermittent problem that now is happening more frequently in recent times. It puts safety at risk in all emergency situations. Reference: Honda TSB 16-002.
Inexplicably and randomy, the fcw comes on the 2014 Honda Accord ex-l. It is accompanied by most the other lights in the dashboard coming on (ex. Lane departure, anti lock brakes, power steering, traction control. When you turn car off and wait, the system seems to fix itself and all is fine until it recurs. It's very scary. My mechanic diagnosed and spoke to Honda who advised replacement of Honda abs control module/modulator assembly. This is a very expensive part (approx. $1300) and unavailable at Honda. The concern is the safety situation plus the fact that this is a wide problem impacting so many other customers. . Read more...
After a minor accident, once turned off, the car would not restart for about 20 minutes. All dash lights flicker and there is a clicking sound. Insurance company will not cover assessment or any repair as they say it cannot be linked to the loss, even though I never had issues with this prior to the accident and it was reported in my accident claim. No issues show on a diagnostic test, but I continue to experience issues with the start button connection. I can hold the brake and press the start button but either have to hold it for 20 - 30 seconds while it clicks or goes dim (while you can hear things trying to happen in the engine), or the brake/start button must be applied multiple times to get it to start. I also think that power is beginning to flicker during driving and now I'm really afraid. I have 105,000 miles.
Abs module/modulator is faulty. Dashboard lights come on and anti lock brakes do not work in rainy conditions or any condition when braking hard to stop. Many people have experienced the exact same thing. The dealership confirmed that it is the abs/gas modulator.
Vehicle fails to start on intermittent bases. Dangerous situations in extreme heat in az.
