The head gaskets and turbo supercharger goes out at a certain amount of miles.
The day I purchased the vehicle from the dealer, every warning light began cycling on including the automatic emergency braking failure, engine system failure and others. I immediately took the car back to the dealer and they supposedly repaired it. When the car was returned to me, I drove it for less than a week and the same thing happened again. When the light came on, the car’s auto braking and cruise control stopped working. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was the head gaskets, which they fixed. When I got the car back again, I drove it for 2 days and it did the same thing again, this time all of the warning codes came on. This time, I had a total engine failure because the timing chain broke. The dealer took almost two months to replace the engine and it cost us almost $6,000. I got the car back last Saturday. Today, driving home from work, the automatic brake system failure warning came on again and the car won’t automatically brake and cruise control wouldn’t work. This is exactly what happened last time. I am afraid to drive this car because I don’t know if the brakes will fail and the system currently isn’t working. We are taking it back to the dealer which will likely cost us more money. We are stuck with this car and cannot get rid of it because we owe more money on it then it is worth because of replacing the engine.
Car keeps throwing cylinder 2 misfire, replaced all spark plugs, fuel indicators and still having issues. Think it’s the ecm/pcm is bad or there’s a bad connection.
Infotainment center continually freezes. When it does, backup camera does not work. I have tried software updates but it has gotten worse. It is also very slow to reboot so again, no backup camera during that time.
The dashboard on the vehicle lights up with multiple error notifications. This puts the vehicle in limp mode. Indicates emissions errors, check engine, lane mitigation, brakes, control system. Per different customers this fault is being caused by either faulty fuel injector, miss fire, bad ignition coils, damage head gaskets, or turbo mechanism faulty. My vehicle has 70,000 miles and others in the chat have less miles that are having similar problems. Head gaskets should not fail so soon with proper maintenance. My obd2 scan code is miss fire which could indicate faulty spark plugs, coil, injector or headgasket. For a vehicle at 70,000 miles this shouldn't happen. Vehicle has been maintained as the manufacturer recommendations.
I have bought this car new in 2018, the issue that I’m having is that . . I’ll be driving on the highway or local my car will brake on its own without any hazards in front of it . It’s very dangerous it almost caused me an accident on the highway .
A supplemental restraint warning came on dashboard, I noticed other Accord owners are experiencing the same this light has to do with possibly airbags or seatbelts making it possibly unsafe to drive.
All warning lights are on the dash. Came on while driving.
A 2018 Honda Accord suddenly displayed multiple dashboard warning messages at the same time after previously operating normally. The warnings include: emission system problem (avoid heavy acceleration), tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, electric power steering system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation braking system problem, and road departure mitigation system problem. These alerts appeared simultaneously when the vehicle was started, even though the car had been driven the night before without any issues. The vehicle still starts and runs, but the number of system warnings suggests a possible electrical, sensor, or control module issue affecting multiple vehicle systems.
Head gasket caused multiple issues with coolant burning quickly. Multiple ignition coils also got damaged and had to be replaced. Though the underlying issue with the gasket was not addressed by the dealership. The head gasket is currently broken and does not function at all and the car has only driven 84000 miles.
The high-pressure fuel pump on my 2018 Honda Accord failed even though the vehicle had previously been repaired under a recall for the same issue. While driving, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, including the check engine light and other system warnings. The vehicle began running rough and lost power, creating a dangerous driving condition, especially in traffic. This is the second occurrence of fuel system failure despite the recall repair being completed. The recurrence of this issue raises serious safety concerns, as sudden power loss or engine malfunction while driving increases the risk of an accident. The vehicle is currently not safe to drive due to the risk of stalling or loss of power. The problem appears to be related to the high-pressure fuel pump system that was previously addressed under recall.
Everytime I try to turn my wheel it’ll get stiff and the notification will pop up saying “electric power steering system” but then it’ll go back to normal and when I start the car it sounds like it doesn’t want to start at all and like the cords are trying to connect because they start making a ticking sound. I’ve had issues with electrical before to where the airbags and lane assist had to be fixed but the issues seems to keep circling back around. Something going on with the electrical in the car and I have only had it for about a year and a half.
Experiencing an ongoing issue where multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard at the same time. The lights include several safety and system warnings, making it look like many different systems in the vehicle are malfunctioning simultaneously. Even after repairs were made, the dashboard warning lights continue to stay on or return shortly after. It has become frustrating because the vehicle continues to show problems even when something has already been fixed. This is a safety concern. How can we know if something is actually malfunctioning if codes are being thrown, constantly?? we also can’t use the safety features included with the vehicle when this is happening. Having so many warning lights on at once also creates concern about the reliability and safety of the vehicle, especially since several of the warnings relate to important systems such as braking, driver assistance features, and engine performance. Repairs aren’t helping and I’m seeing sooooo many other 2018 Accord owners with the same issue, as has been documented with this site, NHTSA.
Over the past several years, there have been multiple instances where I or my wife are driving on the highway and the engine light comes on or starts flashing, and I am unable to go faster than 50 miles an hour, and the engine itself feels to be underpowered. We have taken it to the dealership for repair at least five times over the past five years and in each case they have attempted to do a repair and said the issue has been resolved, but the issue continue. At at least one of those visits, they have diagnosed the issue as an engine misfire issue. The issue has intensified from the initial symptoms, (which were as I described, but resolved by turning the car off, waiting 30 seconds to a minute and then turning the car on again) to how it is now: in addition to the check engine light, every other light and warning system has gone off when driving on the highway and the engine was unable to go faster than 40 miles an hour, and it does not resolve by restarting the car. The dealership and Honda America’s main phone line have as of yet been unable to give me a clear answer as to why this is happening or whether it can be fixed. A sudden drop in speed and power on the highway as we have experienced many times over the last five years is inherently extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The failure was intermittent. The failure had occurred while attempting to start the vehicle, while the vehicle was idling, and while the vehicle was being driven. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics, however the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was taken to an alternate independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that the failure might be a communication issue with the software. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
I am submitting this as a formal and urgent complaint regarding serious safety issues with a vehicle I recently purchased. The trunk opens on its own while I am driving, which creates an immediate safety hazard. In addition, the backup camera is malfunctioning, further increasing the risk when reversing or parking. Shortly after reporting the trunk issue, the radio also stopped working. I have contacted the dealership regarding these concerns, but no corrective action has been taken. Given that this vehicle was recently purchased and involves active safety risks, this lack of response is unacceptable. I am requesting immediate inspection and repair of these issues, as well as written confirmation of how the dealership plans to resolve this matter promptly. Please consider this issue urgent due to the safety risks involved. I look forward to your immediate response.
While driving, the power steering warning came on and the steering wheel became extremely tight, making it very difficult to turn. This has happened more than once, most recently on December 8, 2025. The loss of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was in motion and created a serious safety concern. The dealership retrieved diagnostic code c1250-52, which indicates an internal malfunction of the electric brake booster ecu. The steering issue and warning occurred again after the initial diagnosis. The system appears to fail intermittently and without warning. I have owned multiple Honda Accord vehicles over the years and have never experienced anything like this. Sudden loss of steering assist while driving is a safety defect, and similar issues have been reported by other owners of 2018–2022 Honda Accord models.
The car will have all lights on dashboard showing, car has been taken multiple times to dealership and nothing seems to be wrong but this cause all safety features to malfunction. I have talked with other Honda owners, on forums and acquaintances and they have similar issues.
All alarms are on. Breaks adaptive cruise control hill assist and all other alarms. Taken in to 2 Honda deals and serval mechanics they cannot figure out what’s wrong with it. About once a month all the alarms will clear while driving and the car sensors will start making the car drive odd. Have to fight the steering wheel to keep it straight and wheels will independently break, thinking it’s sliding but it’s not. Extremely dangerous on snowy road or wet roads.
Car has lost power or gone into "limp mode" while driving on multiple occasions. Car was never listed under the fuel pump recall but had all associated symptoms & problems. Had to have fuel pumps replaced in December 2023 due to car not starting because of faulty fuel pumps. Car has been properly maintenced since purchased brand new in February 2018. Currently around 121,000 miles. Car overheated this past summer, coolant seems to be leaking somewhere as just filled with coolant month ago and needed to refill with about quarter to refill to correct amount. Oil also seems to be having slow leakage problem somewhere within the engine as there is excessive oil on drip pan. Had all 4 spark plugs changed in March of 2025. Car has been going into limp mode and looses power for few seconds to minutes sometimes, almost causing multiple accidents while driving on highways. Pull over to shut off and give few minutes to restart and able to resume driving no warnings before this occurs. Randomly all dashboard lights light up 2 weeks ago and put car into limp mode, was driving on highway at high rate of speed (65mph) safety was compromised several times while this occurs. Engine seems create knocking sounds to known due to oil dilution problem. Cold weather seems to affect issues to onset more often. Also been having stalled or rough start ups in colder weather or when engine is not warmed up. Researching these issues seems to be that 2018 Honda Accords had known head gasket failure. This should become a class action lawsuit and also a recall.
The gas pedal failed to work on three separate occasions. The car essentially went into “limp” mode where the whole car stop driving out of nowhere. These models of Honda are known for the head gasket prematurely going out which has caused me car to have multiple misfires, warning lights, loss of power. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and an independent mechanic.
My vehicle is losing power while traveling on the road. All of the system lights are flashing and the gas mileage is ridiculous. It sputters uncontrollably and just stalls out and drops speed really quick. I’m really concerned for my well being. I’ve spent so much money trying to fix these issues and I don’t think it’s fair to me or any other Honda owner to have to be held responsible for something that is clearly a manufacturing issue. Although there was not a crash during this incident, it’s very dangerous and I’m terrified to drive my car but I have no other transportation right now.
All my warning lights keep coming on in dashboard and my car isn’t accelerating in cold weather after sitting overnight.
I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2018 Honda Accord equipped with the 1. 5l turbocharged engine. The vehicle has experienced repeated engine-related failures despite multiple repair attempts by an authorized Honda dealership. Problems have included dashboard warning lights, engine misfires, loss of power, fuel odor, and suspected head gasket failure. Most concerning, on September 20, 2025, while exiting a highway with my child in the vehicle, the car suddenly lost power and all dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. The vehicle became inoperable in traffic and required towing. This created a serious safety hazard and could have resulted in an accident. The vehicle has been returned to the dealership multiple times for the same or related issue on the following dates: • July 8, 2025 – mileage 80,099 • July 10, 2025 – mileage 80,101 • September 20, 2025 – mileage approximately 82,000 • October 27, 2025 – mileage 84,453 • October 28, 2025 – mileage 84,473 • April 16, 2026 – mileage 93,812 repairs have included replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump and repeated diagnostic inspections, but the issue remains unresolved. I understand many owners of Honda vehicles equipped with the 1. 5l turbocharged engine have reported similar problems involving head gasket failure, coolant intrusion, misfires, overheating, fuel system issues, and sudden loss of power. I am concerned this defect presents a significant safety risk.
When gas gets low, all the warnings come up on the dash and lkas turns off. Unable to use any features.
Headgasket blew at 73k miles out of nowhere no check engine light no smoke no warning nothing car was taken care of its whole life car locked up during headgasket failure almost causing accident on road near house called Honda to explain the mishap they were snotty and acted like they didnt care wouldn't provide repair for free or even ask me if I was ok or if I needed help. I am a part of a 1oth generation Honda group on facebook and there are alot of us who should be helpedfor this very dangerous and random mishap.
While trying to accelerate the car loses power. This has happened many times. The Honda dealership has said the system is on back order and they will call me when it’s available. It’s been months. The “jerks”a few times then the check engine light comes on then the car loses power. The dashboard lights are brake system, emission system, electric power steering, hill assist and acc system problem.
Recently bought this car a month ago. I started having problems with acceleration, as if the car was “bucking” every time I would press the gas normally at a red light or stop sign, accelerating from a stop. The vehicle wouldn’t make it up a hill while accelerating it was very hard bucking. I tried pressing the gas a little harder and the check engine light flashed and the car went into limp mode so I had to pull over. Made it back home and I was driving normally and every light you can imagine came up on the dash. I’ve heard from many others with the Accord they’ve had the same problems but once they get it fixed the problems keep happening or the vehicle blows up. I just paid full in cash for this car and my total is fix it is already at 5k to fix.
At approximately [xxx]. Pacific, I was traveling southbound in the fastrak lane of the [xxx] departing from pleasant hill, California headed to pleasanton, California. As I began to accelerate, the engine began to sputter. Immediately, the check engine light flashed on, then the dashboard reported a number of issues ranging from brake failure, tpms failure, power assisted steering failure, vehicle stability assist failure and a number of other issues that I have never encountered since purchasing the vehicle. The sudden deceleration almost resulted in other cars impacting my car as this occurred during the morning commute. I was able to safely navigate off of the freeway. I was on speakerphone with Honda when this occurred. Had I not acted swiftly, a potential high speed rear end collision was likely to have occurred. I immediately took the car to concord Honda. The team at concord Honda performed a diagnosis and advised me that my head gasket was leaking water into the combustion chamber which resulted in the sudden loss of power. I was and continue to be dissatisfied with the handling of this issue by Honda as my car has never been handled by another mechanic. My car has a perfect or near perfect maintenance record and should not have a blown head gasket at 80k miles especially since my car is meticulously maintained and serviced by concord Honda. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
This car came with problem and I want to this if Honda can fix it for free since its they mistake.
Emission system, low acceleration to the point it becomes a safety hazard in the freeway, I almost got rear ended twice, the car jolts, it stops out of no where, head gasket issues at only 65k. Maintenance was kept up but there’s a facebook group called Honda sport 2018 to 22 on these models of the same issue “christmas tree lights”.
Head gasket blown.
- year: 2018 - make: Honda - model: Accord sport 1. 5 turbo - vehicle identification number : 1hgcv1f34ja089316 I am writing to report a safety concern with my 2018 Honda Accord sport 1. 5 turbo. The vehicle has developed a head gasket problem, which has resulted in significant engine issues. Additionally, I have experienced fuel injector problems, leading to decreased fuel efficiency and rough engine performance. Despite following the recommended maintenance schedule and addressing the issues with the dealer, the problems persist. I have been quoted $7,800 for repairs, which is unacceptable given the vehicle's age and mileage (currently 114,848 miles). I am concerned about the safety and reliability of the vehicle, especially when driving on the highway. The vehicle's blown head gasket has caused ¹: - loss of power, leading to potential safety issues on the road - engine hesitation and shutdown while driving, which can increase the risk of accidents I request that NHTSA investigate this matter further and take necessary actions to address the recurring issues with the 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5 turbo engine. I would appreciate guidance on potential next steps to resolve this issue and ensure the vehicle's safety and reliability. - repair estimates and records from the dealer - maintenance records, including oil changes and fuel system cleanings - correspondence with Honda dealership and corporate office other owners have reported similar issues with the 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5 turbo, including fuel injector problems and blown head gaskets ² ³ ?. Please help us. Investigate this issue and help us the consumers.
All lights on dash are on at the same time.
I own a 2018 Honda Accord sport. About 2–3 months ago, the car began having repeated engine misfires (p0301), hesitation, and stalling while driving. At the same time, multiple dashboard warnings appear, including steering assist reduced, brake system problem, collision mitigation braking system problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, emission system problem, and hill start assist problem, these failures occur suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, creating a serious risk of loss of engine power, reduced braking performance, loss of steering assist, and disabled crash-avoidance systems. I have already performed extensive maintenance: new ignition coils, a full tune-up, compression test, spark test, and battery/alternator check, yet the issues remain. Diagnostic scans also showed u0416-68 (invalid data from abs/vsa module) in addition to the misfire. This suggests not only a fuel/propulsion defect but also a possible computer/control module failure that links engine, brakes, steering, and adas systems. These conditions match known recalls for the Accord, including 23v858000 (fuel pump failure), 20v314000 (low-pressure fuel pump), and 20v771000 (bcm software issue), yet my VIN does not currently show as included. The fact that multiple critical safety systems fail simultaneously makes this a major safety hazard that could easily lead to an accident if the car stalls, loses braking, or loses steering assist in traffic. I opened a case with Honda customer service (case #15868389), but they refused to cover the repair since my VIN is not listed, despite the failures being identical to those described in the recalls. I strongly believe my vehicle should be included, and I request that NHTSA investigate whether the recall VIN range needs to be expanded.
