1 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2025

Defective recalled-replacement fuel pump? NHTSA campaign # 23v858000 “fuel pump failure can cause engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. ” my 2018 Honda Accord hybrid had gotten 50 mpg in September & October of 2024 – as it had been getting consistently, reliably for the past six years. Also, I have always driven 545 miles per tank of gas consistently, reliably for the past six years. My original fuel pump, which was recalled (NHTSA #23v858000), never failed and operated perfectly efficiently for six years. In December 2024 I observed the NHTSA fuel-pump-recall and had the “perfect” original fuel pump replaced. As soon as the “new” fuel pump was installed at the dealership, my mpg dropped to 39mpg and miles-driven-per-tank of gas dropped to 445 miles! shocking! my 2018 Accord hybrid lost 100 miles of driving range, and mpg dropped to non-hybrid performance! this leaves me to question the safety of the new recall-replacement fuel pump. Also, since the “new” replacement fuel pump was installed, my high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack has been “kicking-in” more frequently to assist the less efficient new fuel pump. This causes the gas engine to rev longer at high rpms whenever I start the car in order to constantly recharge the hv lithium ion batteries that must assist the less efficient new fuel pump . It appears to be a precarious cycle of decline for both the fuel pump and hvli batteries! help! I would like NHTSA to determine: 1. Is the replacement fuel pump “failing” from the time of installation? 2. Was a “new” fuel pump actually installed, or was a “defective part replaced in the original recalled fuel pump? 3. Is the replacement fuel pump not designed technologically as the original fuel pump? 4. How safe is the “new fuel pump”? 5. Are other Honda hybrid owners who had their fuel pumps replaced under # 23v858000 complaining of poor performance? is this a serious indication of rapid replacement (new) fuel pump failure?.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2024

My husband recently get this car with a loan. We been with the car for almost 3 months. Recently I was driving my daugthers to school on the highway. My car start acting up. My car start shaking like it was gonna turn off on 45 miles. After that happend I find out the it was a recall on my Honda Accord 2018 fuel pump. I went to a Honda dealer and until this time no one can help me.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2021

The fuel pumps, made by supplier denso, were "exposed to production solvent drying for longer periods of time" during manufacturing, According to the NHTSA recall report, which could cause surface cracking and excessive fuel absorption and eventually cause the impeller to become deformed and fail. The fuel pumps on vehicles produced outside limited dates given on the report do not have the problem. This recall did not include the 2018 Honda Accord models even though they are having the exact same issues. My car is stalling the emissions warning light is on along with the adaptive cruise control, lane departure, and the collision mitigation. I feel this should be included in the recall the put in place last year being that is is the same issues. My vehicle would stall in a parking spot at my home when I'm first starting it. It would flash a warning like a car is in front of me randomly when nothing is there. I haven't got into a wreak but I free that I may be in one if this issue isn't fixed and being that this was an issue with previous models I shouldn't have to come out of pocket. I brought this car brand new off the lot. There is no reason why I should be changing the fuel injector 3 years later.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2020

Purchased in may 2019. Currently < 50,000 miles. All service performed at Honda dealership. Several weeks ago began to notice gasoline smell in the cabin while driving. Didn't think much of it, though it was coming from the outside/other vehicles. Check engine light came on last week. Took the vehicle to the dealership for service, was told the fuel injector needs to be replaced, cylinder 3 issue. Last resort was to do a fuel injector cleaning service, had that done. Two days later, while driving 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle would no longer accelerate. Immediately pulled over without incident but could have been very bad. I am not convinced the fuel pump problems that required a recall for many 2018 Accords with 2. 0t engines are not also impacting 1. 5t engines.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2020

I recently financed a vehicle thru american finance corporation via vandergriff Honda (1104 w I-20 ; arlington, texas 76017). Shortly after purchase a recall repair was required for my vehicle. This work was done and completed on June 30th, 2020. I picked up the vehicle on July 1st, 2020 from the service center. On July 9th, 2020 the vehicle shuttered and stalled in a residential parking lot. I phoned Honda roadside assistance giving my vehicle id and location, thereafter a tow truck arrived and towed to the vehicle to rusty wallis Honda. I was contacted by lisa (service advisor) who informed that they had received my vehicle from overnight and that "they were able to start my vehicle". She also stated that if the issue turns out to be the battery, that vandergriff Honda would be responsible since this purchase was within 30days. The next call I received I was informed that issue was not the battery, but rather a "gas issue". At that moment I informed her that the recall repair that was completed on June 30th was the "fuel pump motor". with this information noted that since that was a recall repair( the fuel pump motor) that repair was under warranty and that they would update me on the continuing repair. I was contacted the next day by and informed me that a fuel injector rail part that was needed is being ordered, however because it was satuday that this part would not be in stock until tueday July 14, 2020. on July 15th I called into the service department. Upon speaking to a gentleman by the name of dylan who answered the telephone. Dylan explained to me that my car was still disabled and that he would look into this matter (asking for a 30 -40 minutes for an update for me. This was 19 hours ago. I was reaching out to this agency to inquire of my options and rights that apply to this contract.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2020

In January ,I made a right turn into traffic and the car completely stalled on me and stop running. I put it in park and restarted it. This was a very frightening experience, and I felt like I put myself and 2 other passengers in danger. I took it into my dealer coggin Honda in fort pierce florida to be checked. They found no obvious reason for this stall. Sometime later, I read about the recall on the fuel pump that described my event exactly as I had experiencd it. When I checked the recall, my VIN # 1hgcv1f59ja132632 is not included in the recall. I have contacted my dealer and your public relations that said they can not repair my car because its not on the list. I have safely driven Hondas for many years but with this situation I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and hesitate to trade it in for someone else to drive. Can you help me and give my dealer permission to repair or replace this fuel pump at your expense as it should be on the recall list ?.
