The contact attempted to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road. The contact’s vehicle crashed into a metal wall several times. The contact sustained injuries to the left shoulder and his neck. In addition, the contact sustained multiple bruises and bumps. The contact received medical treatment from the contact’s primary care physician. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. An independent mechanic connected a scanner to the black box, and the vehicle's computer displayed a warning. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the vehicle was condemned total loss. A police report was filed. The contact obtained the black box and was seeking assistance with collecting the stored data. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
My car has been sending several warnings including: brake system: electric parking brake system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation braking system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, supplemental restraint system problem, and power steering reduction problem. My car is not even 100,000 miles yet. I have had all maintenance done on time and recently had brakes replaced. I have changed my battery and tires twice within the 6 years of owning the car. It seems this is a regular complaint for such low mileage. I was a Toyota person but switched to Honda for their safety performance, and now I am regretting that. I read that this is the turbo needing to be changed. This part should be recalled if it is failing soon. A person who just bought a car should not be paying $4500 in repairs already. I had the fuel pump recall replacement done, and had the brakes done. I am changing the spark plugs and ignition coils next week. Honda needs to do something about this and I am looking to join in the class action suit against them, if they do not correct the issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the messages "electrical parking brake system failure”, “parking brake not available", and "abs”, “vsa failure" were displayed on the instrument panel. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to drive as intended and was towed to a local independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the abs module needed to be replaced and reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was contacted. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v430000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,750.
Honda Accord 2019 could not start after parked in garage for 6 weeks. Instrument panel showing: 1) brake hold system problem 2) brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. 3) electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. 4) electric power steering system problem. Steering assist reduced.
I was driving on a city street at about 30mph. There was no one in front of me or behind me. Nothing in the road. The orange rectangular brake light came on for no reason, kept flashing and it felt as if the brakes were automatically being pumped, slowing the car down to a compete stop. In addition, I had no control of the steering. It was very dangerous situation which could have resulted in accident or injury.
The automatic braking system will alert/engage when going down hills, despite there being no traffic in the road. The blindsplot warning will also alert when there is no traffic.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed inadvertently, and the contact was jolted forward. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
I was driving on the freeway going around 50 mph and out of nowhere the car slammed on brakes so hard that it slammed me in my seat. No cars were in front or behind me. So there were no accidents that occurred from this incident. But it certainly did scare me.
The automatic braking occurs when there are no impediments to forward motion. It has occurred on a periodic basis at least 15 times.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle stalled; the contact waited several minutes for the vehicle to return back to normal operation. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The brake warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the place of residence. A dealer was contacted however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,480.
I was driving about 35 mph with nothing in front of me and suddenly, the “brake” warning came on and the automatic brake engaged. There was a car behind me, but thankfully far enough behind that a rear end collision did not occur. I’m very concerned. I think the system is called cmbs (collision mitigation braking system). I would just as soon not have to have it!.
Emergency front collision braking system activates out of nowhere, causing the car to suddenly brake with no warning, although there is nothing in front of the vehicle. Now all the mitigation system lights are on, and the braking system is no longer working. I took it to Honda to repair it twice within the year, and now it happened again, almost causing an accident.
The car detects something in the road even though there is nothing in front of the car. When it detects, it applies emergency brakes. This has almost caused me to be rear ended a couple of times.
Vehicle has applied brakes automatically for no apparent reason at least 10 times in the 4 years we have owned the vehicle. 2 of those incidents was entering a freeway under acceleration from a on ramp putting us in a dangerous situation. It did not completely stop us before it released the braking system. It has also happened when exiting the freeway onto a off ramp numerous times automatically applying the brakes when nothing is in front of us or beside us. Last time it happened was last week while driving down a divided highway with no vehicle beside me or anywhere close in front of me a car was behind me and had to slow down. My car automatically applied the brakes and slowed me down and would not accelerate for about 10 seconds then they released and I was able to accelerate back to normal speed. To not it does not slam the brakes on and lock them up but it does start to slow you down quickly before allowing you to accelerate again. In the wrong situation this could cause a accident or a string of accidents.
The car brakes hard while your driving and there is nothing infront of you without warning and hurts your stomach with the seatbelt. Also when passing over a train track the car beside me went over it and the rail got detected and made the car stop hard. I was with my girlfriend and she is pregnant and the seatbelt got stuck for a moment and since it broke over the train tracks and the force made us fly forward and the seatbelts hurt our stomach but good thing there was no accident or anyone behind me.
The vehicle will have the "collsion mitigation braking system problem. See your dealer" warning come on periodically. When the warning has been on, the vehicle has occasionally randomly braked hard. The warning typically goes off after the car is turned off.
The contact was driving 55 mph when he rear-ended a 2019 Honda Accord that was stopped in the middle of the road. The owner of the Honda Accord stated the vehicle abruptly stopped. The brake light illuminated, and the vehicle braked without assistance. The contact vehicle was towed, but the driver of the Honda Accord drove his vehicle from the scene of the accident. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
All of the safety and warning lights appear on my car upon starting. Collision mitigation electric parking brake brake system problem electric power system problem adaptive cruise control problem tire pressure monitoring problem system morning light comes on in my car and I’m afraid my car may shut down at any time due to all of the system, seemingly failing. It started doing it randomly and the warnings will go off so I’d ignore it but now it is more consistent and they stay on all the time. I searched online to see if anyone else had experienced this and there are many others are having the same issues.
On Thursday November 16th at around 8:00 am I was driving down la cienega blvd going around 30-40 mph. I was about to pass a green light when my 2019 Honda Accord sport started showing the brake signal on my dash. My car suddenly brakes and comes to a complete stop by itself in the middle of the road. There were no cars in front or on either side of me, no potholes or anything of that matter that would’ve caused this to happen. I am now suffering with severe neck and shoulder pain from this unexpected incident. My 1 year was also in the car with me. My car is now being inspected at the Honda dealership where it was purchased.
I was highway driving when suddenly a brake light flashed on and off and car came to an immediate stop (then go). There was no use of the brake pedal, nothing ahead of me - and fortunately no one behind be which could have resulted in a serious crash, safety was a major risk!! husband checked fluid, car is now "awaiting" inspection at a reputable diagnostic service location. Read an article about these similar defects/complaints, but the Honda dealership claims there have been no like incidents, complaints or concerns. I read otherwise that indicated such events were under investigation (cnn wire Feb 27,2002). When I called another dealership, they explained that there were not enough complaints to warrant a (safety recall). I beg to disagree!! today's date is 11/04/2023. Thank you.
Since may or June of 2023 my car has automatically breaked at random times without coming close to anything. It has happened approximately 5 times, 3 times on the freeway when I was going anywhere from 40/70 miles an hour and twice on side streets going less then 20 miles an hour. It has caused me to think I was getting rear ended due to the brakes slamming for no reason.
Car won’t start suddenly. Message says “brake system not working contact dealer”. Then says “system initializing” then goes blank. No response at all when start button is pushed.
My three year old daughter was locked in the vehicle recently which is a major safety concern and was a very terrifying experience. All door locks were malfunctioning. I was unable to gain access to her for several minutes via my key fob or manually pulling the handle/latch. It was in the 40s, after several minutes I was able to gain access through the drivers door. I struggled to undo her car seat from the front. Finally I was able to reach her and she crawled out through the front seat. I was frantic because I was unable to manually unlock the doors when the door release latching system failed. The very next morning I went to warm up the car to take my daughter to school and 10warnings displayed: tpms, brake system hold, brake system performance, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control x2, electric power steering, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation. This incident constitutes as child endangerment in the state of nc. I am terrified and afraid to drive this vehicle, because if in the event of an emergency the doors/car could malfunction again and we would not be able to exit the vehicle. Surprisingly, I took my car the next morning to a scheduled diagnostics appointment with my certified Honda dealership and they failed to identify the problem. This experience is very anxiety provoking and overwhelming to know that the one thing that is supposed to protect us and keep us safe is the one thing that failed us. Someone needs to hold Honda accountable before this defect results in bodily harm/injury and/or death. This is something that should be taken seriously as Honda has had known problems with the body control modules and safety mechanisms. I would like for NHTSA to conduct a causation survey for failure of safety mechanisms. I would like an update after investigations have been conducted. Sincerely, terror stricken and perplexed mom.
I was driving 40 mph on a street when the car's break suddenly went on and the car stopped. There wasn't another car in front of me, no animals or birds were crossing my path, the car just braked and then stopped. The car then started moving again after I pressed down on the accelerator.
The automatic braking system will deploy without anything in the road, especially going over one particular hill. Now the car will not start and says there’s an electronic braking system failure.
Rear brakes rotors and pads are wearing out quickly. Vehicle has 14,000 miles and rear brakes need to be replaced. Front brakes and rotors are wearing as normal.
07/28/2023 - car showed many brake system errors: electric parking brake, vehicle stability, adaptive cruise control, etc. Took to heritage Honda, bel air, MD, and got error code diagnosis of pi20-00, brake system/pedal simulator failure. Heritage "reflashed" pedal simulator and cleared code. Told ok to drive but if brake system errors showed up again, pull over to side of road and have car towed. Drove 20+ miles home. 07/29/2023 - car again showed brake system errors as on 07/28. Husband and I drove car around our development and there were no brakes, even after husband pumping and pushing down on brake pedal very hard. 07/31/2023 - flat bed towed car to martin Honda, newark, DE and got same error code. Paid to replace brake pedal simulator, pn 01469-twa-a56. Issue is that brake system did not fail safely, because failure of pedal simulator left me with no brakes. Requested Honda pay entire martin Honda invoice but Honda paid $1400 of repair. Have since requested that Honda pay remaining $1000 that I paid, plus diagnostic fee for heritage Honda, and towing charge.
The car braked on its own without any obstruction or person in front of car, which almost caused me to get rear ended.
Emergency braking did not engage when coming up to a stopped car. Nor any of the warning lights or warning sound came on.
I went to a dealer because my brake system lights came on. They said that it was the emergency nrake switch. I paid 264. 29 to have the switch replaced, only for the lights to cone back on that night. Screen Honda looked over the car and said that they cannot figure out what the issue is, since replacing the switch.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord sedan. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle kept stalling, which has almost caused an accident. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer. The contact was unsure of the diagnosis, but stated that they told him about a failure related with the brakes, one sensor and the battery. The contact stated the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Every single dash warning light is showing up on my car and I've had it looked at and claimed to be fixed but it has popped back up and I'm unaware of the problem and it's been this way since I've bought my car and I've read online a few others have had this problem.
I saw that this is already under investigation by NHTSA and want to add my name to the list. The car randomly brakes at times for no reason which I find extremely dangerous. It's never caused an accident for me, but I've had at least a dozen near misses of being rear-ended. I've tried to turn off the automatic braking but it still randomly slams on the brakes by itself. This system needs to be disabled as it's just a ticking time bomb. Your form won't let me answer the questions so I'll do it here: date: always speed: any speed mileage: since I purchased the car new.
2019 Honda Accord lx I purchased this car late September in 2022 from mclarty Honda in little rock, ar with less than 25,000 miles. To date the brakes have locked up multiple times on my way to work for no reason whatsoever and I have a witness to every time. I would be driving down hwy46 headed to sheridan, ar and the brakes would engage for no reason and completely stop my car in the middle of the road. Nothing would be in the road for it to sense/detect or whatever to even need to apply the brakes. I recorded a video of the brakes smoking like my car was on fire just yesterday morning when I got to work. I’ve called the dealership multiple times and they have no response or reason for why my car is doing this, I have even scheduled it to be repaired two times and the dealership hasn’t been able to fix the problem and it pisses me off they are even able to sell such a piece of shit vehicle. The dealership along with Honda should be held accountable, apparently they have known about this issue since 2015 and yet to do anything to correct the issue just swept it under the rug and left the consumer to deal with their problems. Whats even worse is congress has made it a law that new vehicles are required to have this worthless piece of technology installed on each vehicle, smh like they have any clue what the american people want or need lol and why is it taking so long for nhsta to get a response from Honda? this is ridiculous and the people who are in charge need to get off their butt and get something done for the people instead of their pocketbook. Real talk.
I bought this car used in August 2022. September 2022, I paid for diagnostics because every warning light was on. They returned the car and the warning lights were clear. They eventually reappeared. I called, complained and was told I would need to pay for another diagnostic. This has been an ongoing problem. The lights are: collision mitigation, braking system problem. Tpms system problem, check tire pressure. Brake system problem, brake performance may be reduced. Brake system, brake hold system problem, apply brake when stopped. Electric power steering system problem, steering assist reduced. Vehicle stability assist system problem, reduced traction and handling. Hill start assist problem, vehicle may roll upon brake release. Acc, adaptive cruise control system problem. Road departure mitigation system problem. Emission system problem, avoid heavy acceleration and high speed. When the battery is disconnected for 15 minutes, then reconnected the lights clear, only to reappear within a few miles of driving. This is very concerning. My teenager will be driving soon and this is an unacceptable safety issue.
