general problems of the 2019 Honda Accord - part 2

While driving with girlfriend. On a 30 mph street,in avon,mass. Suddenly my car brakes in gaged, with bright “brakes” on dashboard. Pulsed brakes,slowing me down to right side. Pulled right over, scared obviously!! my car was bought oct-2019. Only 14,000 miles on it. Mint condition,so when this happened. Was very shocked, not as others before me. This, really has me driving defensive. Waiting, for another episode. Not enjoying,the driving experience!!????.

Driving auto and suddenly word brake appears across screen. This is 3time has appeared. Auto will attempt to stop on its own, pulls to right each time. Scheduled 6/17 at dealer. I was in car alone.

There have been two incidents where my 2019 Honda Accord braked extremely hard and it was out of my control. The first incident was while I was exiting a highway on a rainy night at approximately 30mph, I had cars behind me that had to brake extremely hard due to my braking system which could have caused a rear end collision. The second incident was while I was driving approximately 50mph on a small two lane highway, I had other cars behind that had to swerve to avoid a collision once again. My car also detects many crack repairs on the highway as lane lines and attempts to depart the actual lane. I have to force the steering wheel to stay in the accurate lane. Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe driving my own car.

Aeb was applied three times without need since I have owned the car (purchased used in may 2022). All three times were not warranted and I was nearly rear ended once. First time occurred while merging onto a highway. The aeb system appeared to confuse the concrete dividing wall (which ends at the merge point) and braked unexpectedly. I was nearly rear ended. Second instance occurred while traveling at highway speed on a two lane freeway. I was in the left lane and a vehicle in the right lane began to slowly approach the dividing line (never crossed) and the aeb system activated. Third instance occurred when changing lanes on a two lane highway (right lane to left lane). Car braked suddenly for no reason. It appeared to confuse a large black patch (fresh road repair) in the middle of the road with an obstruction. No other cars were present.

My Honda Accord has randomly started breaking by itself. I was not pressing the brake just the gas as I was driving and it wouldn’t go as I pressed the gas again . The dash flicked off and came back on and it allowed me to go as I pressed the gas . This could result in a bad accident if it happens on the freeway at 60+ mph. I’m very nervous to drive this car as I have 2 children in it often as well. Please make other 2019 Honda Accord owners known as well as this could happen to them too.

I was driving on a local urban street, probably 20 mph, when car suddenly braked hard for no reason. My foot was not on the brake at the time, and there was not a car or potential collision in front of me to trigger this. I reported the problem to the dealer, and they performed a software update. They weren't able to tell me if it was a general update or one specific to this problem.

Rear brakes have been changed out 3x since 2019 car only have 60k miles . Vehicle have been worked on by Honda there’s nothing they can do but replace the brakes and charge me since it’s an “wear and tear” component.

On March 22, 2022, while at a stop light the brake pedal started going towards floor. As I was driving, the brake light system came on and went off a couple of times. I called the dealership and the car was taken in on Saturday, March 26th, 2022. When they moved the car, they told me the brakes felt squishy. On Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, I received a call from dealership. I was told the car didn't throw any codes and Honda would not let them fix the brake booster. I was then told, my Accord had a test booster put on it by Honda. I was never notified of this before purchasing car. Had I been told, I would not have bought car. I was told this is normal for the brake system to do, per Honda of north America. If this is normal, how come it started 2 weeks ago and not 3 years ago?? there is something wrong with the brakes on this car and I would like the booster to be replaced. I've been in contact with stirling Honda in longview wa who tried to get Honda to approve booster replacement. I've also been in contact with Honda of burlington, wa as they called to see if I was going to return car or buy it(I'm leasing). Honda of burlington has been less than helpful. Been told, Honda will not replace and there's nothing wrong with the car. Brake pedal should not be going to floor. When I start car, brake pedal will go to approximately 1" from floor. I've also had issues with car braking on freeway. . . There isn't a car in front of me. I have a picture of brake pedal going to floor while my car is parked in my driveway. It is on my cell phone and am not able to attach to this complaint. Can email if needed.

When my 2019 Honda Accord sport makes high speed changes, the brakes will automatically start aggressive braking enough to cause a rear end collision. Driving on the interstate and no cars in front of me and then suddenly the braking system aggressively brakes the car. Very dangerous.

The adas lights indacstor turn on the freeway while driving, the brake system ligth came on and the car start braking while driving several times the problem happend 5 times on 4 weeks, I took the car to the dealer they replace the brake switch but the problem still coming up days after, now the brake ligths are always on even when nobody is pressing the brake pedal.

I would like to add a comment on the "phantom braking" as I have experienced it with my car several times. I am glad to see a formal investigation has been launched. I think a way to try and replicate this issue is to attempt to pass another vehicle (that is in the adjacent lane) but ensuring you are doing this on a curved road way. . . . At some point the Accord gets "confused" when it looks liked it is "lined up" behind the other vehicle in the adjacent lane. It is real. . Please find a solution and bring this to a resolution. Feel free to contact me for further explanation. I cannot recall the exact date this incident has happened to me; hence I am putting in today's date.

Vehicle will brake suddenly even if nothing in front. It has done this several times on the highway and feel this could be an accident hazard as it could brake suddenly and cause someone to rear collide the vehicle.

Several times for no reason the aep (automatic emergency braking) light on my 2019 Honda Accord came on and the car started to stop. These events occurred in January-February 2022.

For more than the past two years I have been experiencing unexpected braking while driving my 19 Accord. There have been probably 20-30 random incidents. . . . Generally when I am changing lanes. . I think? the braking lasts for 2-3 seconds and then all returns to normal. This has happened when other cars are near and when there is no other car ahead or behind. On at least a couple occasions I received a nasty horn from the car behind me due to my unexpected braking and more than once an uncomplimentary comment from my wife about my driving skill. Several times I feared being rear ended. I explained this braking action as my failure to use the turn signal when changing lanes. Upon reconsidering and after reading the recent NHTSA alert, this is a sensor/software problem in the esc/emergency braking system. Please give this issue your prompt attention. I am the retired engineering manager of the braking system subsidiary of Honda motors.

Concern was reported to dealership 2x. Sudden breaking on freeway at 55+ mph. Since June 2019, this has happened approx. 5 times. Most recently, Feb 2022, night driving approx. 55 mph on freeway suddenly rectangle breaking alert & sound on dash with car self breaking. There was a car 3 lengths behind and luckily didn't cause an accident. Each time, grateful there was no accident. 3 of the 5 times it was at night and 2 times during the day. 4 of 5 was 55mph and 1 time <45 (non-freeway) I believe the camera is getting confused with the lines/grooves on the pavement. This is dangerous.

The automatic break system activated for a fraction of a second several times, the breaking system alerted in the dashboard. The vehicle has not been addressed. It cause a scary reaction of driver.

At approximately 16:08 est on Jan 1, 2022 I was traveling westbound on I-76 at mile marker 146. 9 wb (40°02'03. 0"n 78°29'50. 0"w) in the center lane on a straight section of road at approximately 70mph. Car mileage was 21264 at the time of the crash. The weather at the time of the crash was light rain and with temperature approximately 50f. The car suddenly and for no apparent reason began skidding / fishtailing. I tried steering to regain control of the vehicle and applying the brakes to slow down, but the car continued fishtailing. I did not feel the anti lock brakes engage at any point during the skid. I went into the left lane, and struck the center concrete barrier, causing the airbags to deploy and the car to come to rest in the left lane. 3 symptoms appeared the day of the crash which had never happened before: 1) several hours before the crash, the vehicle began handling strangely. It felt like there was either steering or brake input from the land keeping assist / adaptive cruise control / traction control systems which was "fighting" me and causing the vehicle to swerve slightly. These handling anomalies occurred randomly about 10 times immediately before the crash. 2) about 2 hours before the crash, the check engine light began flashing and there was a loss of engine power. I pulled over and restarted the car, which seemed to resolve the check engine light / power loss. 3) at one point the adaptive cruise control turned itself off and gave a message about traction conditions. To my knowledge the problem has not been confirmed or reproduced, and the vehicle has not yet been inspected by Honda, my insurer, or anyone else. As of Jan 6, the vehicle is currently in a yard near altoona PA awaiting assessment, and is available for inspection upon request. I informed Honda about the crash on Jan 6, 2022. They gave me a case number and said to work through my insurer on next steps. Honda service bulletin 21-052 may be relevant to this incident.

I regularly had issues with the automatic braking system. On 11/2/2020 I was driving on the highway and the braking system automatically engaged, causing me to swerve and hit a semi-truck. This resulted in a total loss to the vehicle and ongoing back pain.

Twice the brake hold system didn't hold and creeping up on vehicle in front. I stomped on the brakes and it delayed in engaging almost hitting the car in front. For several moments the brakes wouldn't respond. (where was the car going? we were stopped, brake hold engaged. ) previously the dealership checked the brake hold system, saying it was okay.

While driving the vehicle will just suddenly stop on its own there will be nothing in front of the vehicle. This has started to become a serious problem it first start happing last year but now is happening more often. When taking to the shop they find nothing wrong with the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages. I have not had any other problems with the vehicle.

Collision mitigation braking system is braking my car at least 4xs when there is nothing on the road in front of me . Luckily there wasn't a car behind me. I was driving each time about 40 miles/he. Took my car to davis Honda in burlington county on Aug. 6 2021 and they stated to me there was a piece of debri in the multi purpose camera which was cleaned out by them. Otherwise nothing came up in computer check. I believe there is a class action suit against Honda for this problem.

On 6/25/21, while driving my 2019 Honda Accord hybrid ex-l, at a speed of 30-40 mph the car displayed various warnings. I was on a major road with no where to pull over. Within about a block the car unexpectedly braked hard and slowed down from about 40 to 15 mph. I attempted to press on the gas to avoid causing an accident but, the car continued at the slower speed and did not react to my gas press. This issue then cleared and I was able to accelerate. This was very scary but to make it worse about a 1/2 block later my car veered to the left and out of my lane, again at this point I was on high alert and the veer was not correct. I was able to gain control and get the vehicle back in the correct lane. I then pulled into a parking lot(~1 block later). I tried to document all of the warnings at this time. I called randy kuehl Honda and decided to drive back roads to the dealership(~4 miles). Prior to arriving(~3. 8 miles into drive), additional warnings were displayed. I arrived at the dealership and they said that the issue was because there was a crack in my brake light and water had gotten in. But I am having a hard time accepting that because of a busted taillight it is normal/acceptable/safe for the car to brake and swerve and lose all of the indicated systems. Seems like a pretty big safety concern. I can quickly find other instances similar to mine on the internet. Below is a list of all the warnings I was able to remember. I also noticed while I was parked that the red "brake" was displayed but I did not have the parking brake on. ---initial warnings electric parking brake system problem(sp), parking brake not available brake sp brake performance may be reduced brake hold sp. Apply brake when stopped adaptive cruise control sp collision mitigation braking sp road departure mitigation sp ---later electric power steering sp vehicle stability assist sp lane keeping assist sp anti-lock brake system (abs) sp.

Rear passenger side outside brake pad wear out much faster than the other 7 brake pads on the car. It worn out completely at 33k miles and the rotor and brake pad was metal on metal, because of this both had to be replaced.

30636 miles currently, just took my Honda to dealer to get recall and they did a mpi and said my rear brakes are at 2 mm. The Accord is pretty much highways driven and shouldn't need rear brakes this soon.

I purchased my Honda Accord sport last month and had no issues 5,000 miles on it. But as I've been driving it the brakes are not operating as they should way too sensitive and is not a smooth process as it should be the slightest pressure makes it jolt forward. On idle my rpms start to lower then go up I don't believe this should be happening. I don't know if it's a vacuum leak, fuel pump or spark plugs but there is an issue.

While driving, car automatically applies brakes. Speed will slow all the way down, almost to a stop. Multiple warning lights dealing with brake system will randomly pop up, but also leave on their own just to reoccur later on. I just got this car a month ago with only 19,xxx miles.

On 02/06/2021, after entering a gated residential community, the car suddenly brakes for no reason. No other vehicles or pedestrians were on the road. Weather was overcast. Roadway was dry. Speed was approximatley 27 mph. Neck and head injury resulted. Honda dealer could find nothing wrong after running all tests. Therefore, they said nothig was wrong with the car. I am afraid to drive this car!.

My rear brakes are bad at only 27000 miles. Front brakes are good. The same happened with my 2016 Accord.

Started hearing a squeak sound from the front drivers side brake area so I took it to the dealer for an inspection that I paid 65 dollars for and was told my brakes are fine both front and back so I go ahead and keep driving and the noise gets louder so I go back to dealership they still say after they say they checked that brakes are fine so I take them at there word not 4 days latter I am know getting a grinding sound from the front and rear of my car and my brake fluid is super low in my car and feels like I have no brakes at 30k miles.

While driving on the highway numerous warning signal pops up, the car pulls to the left and right then suddenly reduces its speed from 60 to 35 and eventually to a full stop. The car gas pedal is stiff the car won't move, this is the 3 time it happens with 7 days. It was taken to the dealership, they stated that it's fixed. However, that far from the truth. In need of some help, apparantly the 2019 Honda Accord is having this issue there should be a recall before some is killed.

Two times in the first 5000 miles I have owned this car the car has on the highway beeped quickly DE-accelerated and tried to pull my steering when there is no vehicle near me.

On three separate occasions, I have been driving and my car has applied emergency brakes for no reason. No vehicles in my immediate area, including in front of me. On the first and main occasion, I was in the left lane traveling at about 75mph. My car flashed the emergency "brake" notification on the driver information side of the dashboard, and automatically applied brakes bringing me down to about 50-55 mph before the warning went away, brakes were released and everything proceeded as normal. Cruise control was not on and there were no cars directly in front of me nor next to me. The sun was not rising nor setting, so I don't believe there to have been any sun glare affecting the radar. I had this issue again driving at night on back roads. I was driving about 35 miles an hour when the "brake" notification appeared and the car automatically applied brakes, despite nothing being in my line of travel. After this, I figured out how to disable the automatic braking and change it to just a warning. The third time this happened was again driving on the highway. I don't recall my speed, but no one was in front of me. My car flashed "brake" for no reason before disappearing. I do normally get the "brake" notification when I am approaching a slowed vehicle, but I don't get automatic braking with those as I am already applying brakes. In all three of these circumstances there has not been anyone in front of me to trigger the brake warning.

On July 7th, 2020 I was turning into a parking space at my employers. My foot was on the brake as I coasted into the parking spot. The auto suddenly lurched, accelerated, jumped the curb and hit a brick wall. My foot was on the brake the entire time. The wall is what stopped the auto. I reported this to Honda. They evaluated the auto and found no computer notifications of a malfunction and therefore no issues with the car. I no longer feel comfortable driving this auto.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the forward collision avoidance emergency automatic braking suddenly activated, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the road. During the failure the brake light was displayed. The contact indicated that no other vehicle or object was present nearby to cause the forward collision avoidance system to be activated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

On the highway going 75mph the collision mitigation beeped and locked up the brakes dropping my speed below 50mph before letting off. There was a car in the lane to the right of me on a straight section of the highway but was not moving into my lane. Luckily there was no one behind me.
