2 Driveshaft problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/23/2021

Received a recall notice from Honda for the driveshafts premature failure on the 2014 Accord models. This failure is related to premature corrosion of the driveshafts. Then we received notice that the vehicle recall was canceled because " we don't live in a snow area and that no corrosion should have occurred. This is nebraska! plenty of salt and snow! and when the vehicle was in for regular service in July, the mechanic showed me the axles and "strongly advised a replacement" even before we had received any recalls from the manufacturer. I reached out to the local Honda dealer and they stated that there was a recall for driveshafts and provide me with the recall website. So I submitted the required information to the Honda recall web site. This included the service information, appropriate invoices and the original recall sheet. 6 weeks later, Honda customer service called me and stated there would not be any reimbursement for the replacement of the defective drive shafts. They based their decision on the assumption that nebraska was not a snow state nor would corrosion be a factor. Given the number o f Honda's on the streets in nebraska, I just can't believe my vehicle is the only one with defective driveshafts. I have the bill and the first hand look at the defects to prove differently. I believe Honda should expand the recall to include nebraska and this is a serious safety issue.

3 Driveshaft problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/19/2021

My car is subject to NHTSA recall number20v-769. The Honda dealer will not repair it unless I pay another $1,500 for parts. My dealer said this was a "money grab" by Honda and all related parts and labor at 4. 5 hours. I should not have to pay for a recall because my driveshaft needs to be replaced.

4 Driveshaft problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/14/2021

While making a left turn at low speed (10 mph) and getting back up to speed on the highway (55mph speed limit), the vehicle lost the power connection to the wheels. The engine was revving as the gas pedal was being depressed, but the car was slowing down. Shifting the transmission to different gears (from d to d2, d1) did nothing. The highway was 2 lanes and there was not a lot of traffic, so luckily the 2 cars behind me were able to brake and switch lanes around me without causing an accident, while I was able to maneuver the vehicle from the left lane to the right shoulder. Evaluation by an ase certified shop at a luther dealership revealed that the drive shaft (drivers side) snapped into two pieces at the junction that is inside a rubber component. The shop disclosed to me that there are two recalls out for this exact issue by Honda motor company, but my specific vehicle is not part of the recall. There are two separate recalls related to this problem per consumer reports. The 2013 through 2015 Honda Accord sedans are part of recall #20v769. The 2013-2015 Acura ilx, 2013 Acura ilx hybrid, 2012 Honda civic hybrid, and 2007-2014 Honda fit vehicles are part of recall #20v770.

7 Driveshaft problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/25/2009

I bought the car in summer of 06 and the dealer stated it was under Honda warranty for 7 years or 100k miles. 2 months later I started having transmission problems (car wouldn't shift into higher gear or it would slip out of gear totally). The dealer stated that the warranty was not a Honda extended warranty but a 30 day lot warranty. After much complaining about the transmission and j. R. Ham (the sales mgr who lied about the warranty) they replaced the drive shaft and the problem seemed to be fixed. I now am having the same problem and now the car is slipping more violently in and out of gears. It is now undrivable and it regularly slips in and out of gear making it undriveable.
