Blown head gasket. Engine lost power and forced me to pull over. The problem is well documented with this generation of Honda 1. 5t engines, Honda dealership confirmed problem and second opinion from independent shop also confirmed, citing they had another Honda with the same 1. 5t engine with the same blown head gasket issue. No clear warnings prior to event, all the dashboard lights flashed on when car lost power.

While driving my vehicle suddenly would not accelerate above 20 mph and warning lights all over the dash lit up (check engine, abs brake system, adaptive cruise control, vehicle stability, power steering, hill assist, and brake hold). I took it for a diagnostic, it gave a code for cylinder 3 misfire. I got a tune up the next day along with a fuel system cleaning just to be safe. After about 35 miles of driving I had the same issue 2 days after the tune up, this time no warning lights. I took it back to the shop and this time the spark plug in cylinder 4 was bad. I believe I am at the beginning of what many others have complained about with these same symptoms. This problem makes operation of my vehicle unsafe and uncertain, at any time this issue can kick in and now you are limping along at 20 mph while cars zoom all around you. While trying to get the vehicle to the shop I created traffic buildups and was almost hit multiple times due to the vehicles diminished acceleration.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The stated that the vehicle was taken for the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number 25v422000 (power train). The contact stated that after the recall repair was completed, the vehicle was not apart of the recall. The dealer advised the the when alignment was not apart of the recall repair and would be at the owners expense. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed that the alignment was part of the recall. The contact stated that while driving after the repair, the vehicle began to swerve uncontrollably, the vehicle felt loose and an adjustment has to be made while driving to straighten the steering wheel. The vehicle was not returned again to the dealer however the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed as being severely misaligned. The contact believed that the recall repair was not properly repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,965.

Blown head gasket after multiple spark plug replacements for misfires.
Vehicle: 2019 Honda Accord sport 1. 5l VIN: [xxx] mileage: approximately 122,497 my vehicle experienced a cylinder head gasket failure accompanied by coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders, injector-related issues, fuel trim failures, and cylinder misfires as diagnosed by an authorized Honda dealership. Prior to diagnosis, the vehicle experienced engine performance concerns associated with the misfire condition. The dealership documented historical misfire events and coolant intrusion into the combustion chambers. I am submitting this complaint because I am concerned that injector-related issues, engine misfires, coolant intrusion, and cylinder head gasket failures may represent a recurring condition affecting similarly equipped vehicles. Engine misfires and coolant intrusion can potentially result in reduced engine performance, loss of power, unexpected vehicle behavior, or engine failure while the vehicle is being operated. I request that NHTSA review this issue and determine whether a broader investigation is warranted. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
All lights on head dash are on , all components are not working properly or effected because of this. (engine light brake light abs light tire light traction control light , sensors out all) while driving vechile reduces power does not operate randomly , have to pull over shut the car off and turn it back on. Has high vibrations lot of shaking, stauling. I have had it looked at with multiple shops and dealer . Everybody is playing a guessing game and can not pin point what exactly it is . Was told it was spark plugs and coils, alternator , fuel injectors. All have been repaired, and still have all lights on dash and still facing every problem listed after repairs. Been inspected by manufacturer. Say not been resolved was told if it wasn’t what was already fixed they don’t know and that this is very common right now . It first April 2026 (3) times. May 2 times 2026.
While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle experienced a sudden jerking and a catastrophic loss of motive power (limp mode). Simultaneously, multiple safety systems failed, including the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation. The vehicle became a road hazard in active traffic. A certified Honda dealership technician inspected the vehicle and confirmed a premature head gasket failure with coolant intrusion into cylinders 2 and 3. The engine is non-drivable and the vehicle is at 84,000 miles. Despite the documented nature of this design defect and its current litigation, american Honda motor CO. Has denied any assistance. The vehicle also has an open safety recall (24-009) for a fuel pump failure which presents identical safety symptoms.
I was driving down the highway, and the dash started to flash a message about the vehicle being unsafe to drive, stop driving immediately, call dealer. I was able to stop and then turn left across traffic with limited power; and continued to make my way back to work thinking I could probably get to my parking lot. The dash continued to display warning lights, starting with brake failure, then parking brake failure, and then the whole series of possible failures. I continued to drive about one mile. I shut the power off an powered up twice thinking that might reset the sensors; but they continued to fail. As I continued to drive there was limited power to the throttle, and I eventually coasted through a red light and into my work parking lot where the vehicle shut down entirely, and eventually fully locked up (couldn't start or event put in neutral to push). I had the vehicle towed to back to the dealer, and they diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission cooler. Of note, I had purchased the vehicle brand new less than 3 weeks before this incident and the vehicle had less than 600 total miles on it. There were no prior signs of trouble or warning lights.

I have a misfire and all the warning lights came on. This is due to Honda having the fuel pump recalled that has damaged all the fuel injectors. It took them almost a year to get the recall parts and now myself and a ton of others are now having to pay for these fuel injectors to have a car that doesn't stall and die on the road. Honda should have taken care of this knowing it damaged the fuel injectors.
Merging from a stop into traffic and suddenly a loud bang from under car and unable to accelerate. Able to move to shoulder while coasting. Failure was found to be the passenger side driveshaft. The cvt version of my car has an open recall, but mine is a manual. Seems like an attempt to carve out part of the recall to save a buck by Honda.

Head gasket failure was diagnosed by a certified dealer. The only symptom leading up to the failure was slight hesitation when starting the vehicle. Safety issues include sudden engine power loss, engine fire, overheating, and reduced visibility from thick white smoke, and the potential loss of steering or braking power.
In Feb. 2026, I had a software recall service performed on my Honda Accord. Later that same day, a persistent error message appeared on my dash: software update not available see dealer. I contacted the dealer and they said sometimes that error message clears on its own and to wait and see. A few days later as I was leaving work, I turned my car on, put it in reverse and realized I had no propulsion or power steering. I put the car back in park and restarted it and drove it straight to the dealer where it sat for about three weeks as they tried to clear the error message. They were not able to reproduce the issue I reported with my car being on but without power. I picked up the car on 3/16/26. After leaving the dealership, it began sputtering and lurching. I could see on the powertrain display that the car was not communicating well between the engine and hybrid battery. I pulled into a parking lot and put the car in park and it began functioning normally. I called the dealer and they said to bring it back if that happened again. It has not. Tonight, I was pulling up to a red light when my car suddenly slammed on the brakes and displayed lane departure mitigation off. I attempted to restore that safety feature and realized my car had lost power. It did restore power and I was able to drive home, but I am terrified of my car since it engaged the braking system for no reason and disabled a safety feature plus losing power. During my car's time in the service department, it got a new can gateway module and telematics unit along with repeated attempts to make the software update glitch free to eliminate the persistent warning messages that had been displaying. Honda tech support was involved, and I have contacted Honda corporate with my concerns about the safety of my car but am waiting for a response. My perspective is the software recall update ruined my perfectly good car and I am worried I am going to lose power and get injured or worse.
Driving on the highway, my dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. Car started having white smoke at tail pipe. Check engine lit blink 5 times. Had 4 kids under 14 years old in car. Almost got hit trying to merge over. Turns out misfire cylinder 4. Head gasket. Only 81,000 miles. I have owed 5 months. Car currently at Honda, they want almost 4,400 to repair. But apparently, Honda is aware of these head gaskets going prematurely, in 1. 5 l. And has done nothing about it. I do not have the money to repair this car on top of how dangerous it was to be driving on the highway. When this happened.

Transmission started bucking at 50k miles, the problem has gotten substantially worse at 60k miles. Rough downshifting and upshifting in low gears. Will slam into gears 2-3 often and cause driver and passengers to lurch forward. Will cause very rough acceleration at times and causes a danger in traffic given the speed becomes unpredictable. Transmission does not know what gear to be in even after atf type 2. 0 fluid change following dealer procedure. This is putting me and other drivers at risk because I cannot control my speed when transmission is slamming in between gears. No warning lamps, undetected by cars tcu.
After recent service from local Honda dealership vehicle started to drive sluggish. Had all fluids changed and the coolant flushed when serviced at the dealership. The vehicle now displays several different alerts upon start up "emissions systems failure" brake system failure" hill assist failure" power steering failure". Vehicle was returned to dealership and it was determined the head gaskets need to be replaced due to coolant leaking. This vehicle has been maintained consistently with documentation and shouldn't have this type of failure with only 100k miles. Repairs are $4800 and this should definitely be investigated because this is common in Honda Accord model years 2018-2022.
Head gasket failed at 58k miles without overheating per assessment at Honda dealership. Safety was affected by going into limp mode instantly turning left onto 55 mph 4 lane road, no warning lights prior going into limp mode. Brief misfire occurred prior to incident, (did not know at time because it did not seem significant and no warning light). Dealer reports multiple 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5l head gasket and fuel injector failures. Unknown if manufacture would inspect. In addition fuel injector has completely failed and requires replacement per Honda dealership assessment, this occurred after dealership repaired head gasket. Waiting for final repair invoice, can and will provide upon request.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the turbo charger and the fuel pump how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? both instances I was driving and car automatically started to decelerate while I was on the busy interstate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes by a dealer has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no but Honda has been notified because there is currently a recall out for these issues that includes my year of vehicle but not my VIN. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes every system in the vehicle stated it was failing and engine light came on.

2020 Honda Accord sport 1. 5. Routine maintenance always done on time. At 108k turn my car on after a routine 45 minute drive an hour or so previous and all warning lights come on. Tpms, brake system problem, road dept system, emissions system. Dealer reports head gasket needs replaced and 3rd cylinder misfire, coolant leak etc. Quoted $5k to repair. Only 108k miles. Honda isn’t what it used to be. Quick search reveals the 10th gen Accords and civics suffer from early failure of this product routinely. Surely a known defect worthy of recall.
When driving home one night the dash board in the car all of a sudden hade a lot of warning lights come on. I brought it to my mechanic to have a look at it and he suggested to change the spark plugs and the coils which was done and he cleared the codes. About two days later I went to go to work and once again all the warning lights on the the dash board come on and it wouldn't drive over 5 mph. The mechanic went deeper into the problem he said it was cylinder # 3 that had a misfire and the fuel injectors needed to be changed which was done($1,000 later). A week went buy no lights on the dash came on but it has a rough start and when you get to about 40 mph the car starts to hastate to move. This time I brought it rick case Honda to have it looked at and they are telling me it is now the head gasket on cylinder # 3 has a hair line crack and needs to be changed ($7,400) to remove and replace the head gasket. This happened over multiple weeks between bowering cars waiting for parts. Now I have find a way to pay a $7,400 bill.
My turbo and fuel injectors went out at the same time. It has been fixed, so I don't think it can be inspected my safety was put at risk. The car randomly went into limp mode on the interstate at high speeds and suddenly came to almost a complete stop yes, it was inspected by a mechanic, everyone with a 2018 Honda Accords are having this issue yes, it was inspected by a mechanic. No warning lamps or anything, just a blinking check engine light that appeared for the first time ever.
I have a blown head gasket which is a common problem with this vehicle. I have 85k miles. The car started to blow out smoke from the tailpipe which is very heavy.
City street driving speed < 35-40 mph, engine began rough idling at stop light after traveling just 1/8 mile. After driving less than 1 mile on level ground, engine slowed and would not accelerate above 20 mph. After another mile or so, increasing uphill grade caused speed to slow to 12-14 mph. Stepping on gas caused car to slow down even more, with shaking and jerky stop-start of vehicle. Maintaining 10-12 mph permitted vehicle to continue uphill climb for a few more miles so I could reach home. Downhill coasting was smooth with no gas pedal acceleration. Overnight parked in garage, and no problems driving vehicle to local independent auto mechanic. They were able to duplicate problem after 2 days and multiple test drives. Diagnosed permanent and temporary engine codes: misfires of cylinders 1 and 4 with ignition coil malfunction, misfires of cylinders 1, 2, 4, and random misfires. Also permanent codes: antilock brake ecm failure, electric power steering vehicle stability assist system malfunction, electric servo brake electric power train system malfunction. Mechanic removed coils and spark plugs, found cylinder 4 has moisture. Coils, plugs cleaned and re-installed. Honda dealer unable to duplicate problem after 3 days.
The failed component was a broken drive shaft for the driver-side front wheel. The drive shaft failed while stopped in denver traffic. The vehicle was inspected by fisher Honda, of boulder, colorado. This is a known problem, and Honda has already issued a "regional" recall for the drive shaft (recall #20v-769) for vehicles that are driven in states that use road salt in the winter. Unfortunately, even thought this vehicle was purchased and driven in nebraska the first six years, and nebraska is a heavy user of rock salt on its state highways, the state of nebraska was excluded from the region. The recall (#20v-769) states that "there have been no reports of occurrences (of the broken drive shaft) outside of the salt-belt region. " if it was not a false statement when published, it is a false statement now, as my car is outside of the 21 states referenced as the "salt belt region", and a Honda Accord forum search shows that many other people outside of the region have experienced the same failure.
I have 22 recalls in my jerry app and also on here. Have problems when first starting up and shifting just got from a dealer in ohio. The car can't start because of the recall.
Statement by american Honda regarding left and right front drive shaft recalls our 2011 Honda Accord, driven by our grandson, had experienced a possible breakage of the drive shaft, leaving him stranded on an off-ramp on the freeway. It appears Honda has had recalls for this mechanical failure on a limited number of vn numbers. I did find that there had been over 292 complaints According to NHTSA campaign number xxx. I did reach out to Honda, and with no explanation other than no recalls on this VIN [xxx [xxx] selective safety recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. My Honda is shifting harsh going into 5th gear and sometimes reverse is not available. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they are telling me I need a new transmission to the tune of $9,600. It only has 64,000 miles and the warranty recently expired. I took the car to another mechanic and he told me the same thing. There is no way that the transmission should go out at such low miles. Honda needs to step up and take care of this problem. There are many complaints about this issue but nothing is being done. I have the 7 year/100,00 mile warrany but the car is a 2018. This was the first year of the 10-speed transmission and many people are having problems. This needs to be addressed.
There is a clicking noise from both sides of the wheels and it causing to vibrate at higher speeds. Cclicking sound is more prominent when turning from left to right. I am concerned that the axles may fail as I see online that a recall has been issued for the lubricant used in manufactoring the part.

I purchased this 2018 Honda Accord sport brand new from the dealership, relying on Honda’s longstanding reputation for reliability and longevity. At approximately 120,000 miles, the vehicle suffered a blown head gasket during normal driving conditions. The vehicle has been properly maintained According to Honda’s recommended schedule. I have already opened a claim with Honda corporate regarding this issue and am currently awaiting their response. Despite proper maintenance, this catastrophic engine failure occurred, suggesting a design or manufacturing defect rather than misuse. This issue presents both a safety concern and a substantial financial burden, as I am a single mother of four who depends on this vehicle for daily transportation. Based on reports from other owners, this appears to be a widespread defect affecting 10th-generation Honda Accords with the 1. 5l turbo engine, which I respectfully request NHTSA investigate.
Transmission keeps malfunctioning from 1-2 and 2-3 gear shifts. Mainly prominent on the 2-3 gear shift having issues. Severe transmission jerk and sometimes slams into the next gear. This has been happening since I bought the car at 52k miles and it is currently at 62k miles. It can be available for inspection upon request. It also jerks on downshift. The transmission fluid has been drained and filled with Honda genuine atf 2. 0 but the issue still persists after the service. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. It has put my safety at risk because in low speed traffic my speed is unpredictable and I am worried of hitting a car in front of me. It is also an issue for vehicles behind me as well because the vehicle cannot find the gear and doesn't accelerate properly. When it slams into the next gear it seems to be a severe safety hazard for me and my passengers.
I was turning into my parking space after work. The car suddenly showed every single alarm possible it started driving incredibly poorly at low speeds. I turned the car off. I let it rest for a minute. I turned it off and it was horribly slow, but it was able to pull it into the parking space. I did not call a tow truck at this time because the last time they towed into an impound lot and it took days to get it to the dealership. They tried to hold my car for ransom for thousands of dollars. This is a brand new vehicle has broken down multiple times. Honda is trying to externalize flame. The dealership takes no ownership of their faulty merchandise.
A 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5t developed an engine misfire, coolant loss, and reduced acceleration shortly after purchase from a dealership on 01/07/2026 (around 156,000 miles / $15,000). On 01/23/2026, during a Honda dealer inspection at about 157,255 miles, the technician noted misfires on startup, found the coolant overflow reservoir empty, pressure-tested the system, and confirmed coolant leaking into cylinders 3 and 4 from the head gasket. The dealer recommended head gasket replacement plus spark plugs, drive belt, and valve adjustment. I was told that continued driving could worsen the condition, leading to overheating and further engine damage. After that diagnosis, the vehicle’s drivability worsened, and it became unsafe to rely on due to misfires and loss of acceleration, especially on the highway. The selling dealership refused to assist, claiming the defect was not present at the time of sale; Honda America acknowledged the head gasket concern but denied a goodwill claim, citing the high cost of the issue and lack of NHTSA enforcement on this issue. An independent repair shop then provided a second inspection/estimate consistent with the same head-gasket repair scope. The vehicle and repair records are available for inspection. No crash or injury occurred, but the defect caused a sudden loss of power and overheating while driving; I was stuck on the highway on two occasions with my hazard lights on after acceleration completely halted. Warning symptoms (the engine light) only appeared when the car suddenly stopped accelerating. Two days after an around-$5,000 headgasket repair, drivability problems and multiple dashboard warnings appeared, including turbo-related concerns; this concern is ongoing.
