In Feb. 2026, I had a software recall service performed on my Honda Accord. Later that same day, a persistent error message appeared on my dash: software update not available see dealer. I contacted the dealer and they said sometimes that error message clears on its own and to wait and see. A few days later as I was leaving work, I turned my car on, put it in reverse and realized I had no propulsion or power steering. I put the car back in park and restarted it and drove it straight to the dealer where it sat for about three weeks as they tried to clear the error message. They were not able to reproduce the issue I reported with my car being on but without power. I picked up the car on 3/16/26. After leaving the dealership, it began sputtering and lurching. I could see on the powertrain display that the car was not communicating well between the engine and hybrid battery. I pulled into a parking lot and put the car in park and it began functioning normally. I called the dealer and they said to bring it back if that happened again. It has not. Tonight, I was pulling up to a red light when my car suddenly slammed on the brakes and displayed lane departure mitigation off. I attempted to restore that safety feature and realized my car had lost power. It did restore power and I was able to drive home, but I am terrified of my car since it engaged the braking system for no reason and disabled a safety feature plus losing power. During my car's time in the service department, it got a new can gateway module and telematics unit along with repeated attempts to make the software update glitch free to eliminate the persistent warning messages that had been displaying. Honda tech support was involved, and I have contacted Honda corporate with my concerns about the safety of my car but am waiting for a response. My perspective is the software recall update ruined my perfectly good car and I am worried I am going to lose power and get injured or worse.

Driving on the highway, my dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. Car started having white smoke at tail pipe. Check engine lit blink 5 times. Had 4 kids under 14 years old in car. Almost got hit trying to merge over. Turns out misfire cylinder 4. Head gasket. Only 81,000 miles. I have owed 5 months. Car currently at Honda, they want almost 4,400 to repair. But apparently, Honda is aware of these head gaskets going prematurely, in 1. 5 l. And has done nothing about it. I do not have the money to repair this car on top of how dangerous it was to be driving on the highway. When this happened.

Transmission started bucking at 50k miles, the problem has gotten substantially worse at 60k miles. Rough downshifting and upshifting in low gears. Will slam into gears 2-3 often and cause driver and passengers to lurch forward. Will cause very rough acceleration at times and causes a danger in traffic given the speed becomes unpredictable. Transmission does not know what gear to be in even after atf type 2. 0 fluid change following dealer procedure. This is putting me and other drivers at risk because I cannot control my speed when transmission is slamming in between gears. No warning lamps, undetected by cars tcu.

After recent service from local Honda dealership vehicle started to drive sluggish. Had all fluids changed and the coolant flushed when serviced at the dealership. The vehicle now displays several different alerts upon start up "emissions systems failure" brake system failure" hill assist failure" power steering failure". Vehicle was returned to dealership and it was determined the head gaskets need to be replaced due to coolant leaking. This vehicle has been maintained consistently with documentation and shouldn't have this type of failure with only 100k miles. Repairs are $4800 and this should definitely be investigated because this is common in Honda Accord model years 2018-2022.
Head gasket failed at 58k miles without overheating per assessment at Honda dealership. Safety was affected by going into limp mode instantly turning left onto 55 mph 4 lane road, no warning lights prior going into limp mode. Brief misfire occurred prior to incident, (did not know at time because it did not seem significant and no warning light). Dealer reports multiple 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5l head gasket and fuel injector failures. Unknown if manufacture would inspect. In addition fuel injector has completely failed and requires replacement per Honda dealership assessment, this occurred after dealership repaired head gasket. Waiting for final repair invoice, can and will provide upon request.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the turbo charger and the fuel pump how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? both instances I was driving and car automatically started to decelerate while I was on the busy interstate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes by a dealer has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no but Honda has been notified because there is currently a recall out for these issues that includes my year of vehicle but not my VIN. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes every system in the vehicle stated it was failing and engine light came on.

2020 Honda Accord sport 1. 5. Routine maintenance always done on time. At 108k turn my car on after a routine 45 minute drive an hour or so previous and all warning lights come on. Tpms, brake system problem, road dept system, emissions system. Dealer reports head gasket needs replaced and 3rd cylinder misfire, coolant leak etc. Quoted $5k to repair. Only 108k miles. Honda isn’t what it used to be. Quick search reveals the 10th gen Accords and civics suffer from early failure of this product routinely. Surely a known defect worthy of recall.
My turbo and fuel injectors went out at the same time. It has been fixed, so I don't think it can be inspected my safety was put at risk. The car randomly went into limp mode on the interstate at high speeds and suddenly came to almost a complete stop yes, it was inspected by a mechanic, everyone with a 2018 Honda Accords are having this issue yes, it was inspected by a mechanic. No warning lamps or anything, just a blinking check engine light that appeared for the first time ever.
I have a blown head gasket which is a common problem with this vehicle. I have 85k miles. The car started to blow out smoke from the tailpipe which is very heavy.
City street driving speed < 35-40 mph, engine began rough idling at stop light after traveling just 1/8 mile. After driving less than 1 mile on level ground, engine slowed and would not accelerate above 20 mph. After another mile or so, increasing uphill grade caused speed to slow to 12-14 mph. Stepping on gas caused car to slow down even more, with shaking and jerky stop-start of vehicle. Maintaining 10-12 mph permitted vehicle to continue uphill climb for a few more miles so I could reach home. Downhill coasting was smooth with no gas pedal acceleration. Overnight parked in garage, and no problems driving vehicle to local independent auto mechanic. They were able to duplicate problem after 2 days and multiple test drives. Diagnosed permanent and temporary engine codes: misfires of cylinders 1 and 4 with ignition coil malfunction, misfires of cylinders 1, 2, 4, and random misfires. Also permanent codes: antilock brake ecm failure, electric power steering vehicle stability assist system malfunction, electric servo brake electric power train system malfunction. Mechanic removed coils and spark plugs, found cylinder 4 has moisture. Coils, plugs cleaned and re-installed. Honda dealer unable to duplicate problem after 3 days.

The failed component was a broken drive shaft for the driver-side front wheel. The drive shaft failed while stopped in denver traffic. The vehicle was inspected by fisher Honda, of boulder, colorado. This is a known problem, and Honda has already issued a "regional" recall for the drive shaft (recall #20v-769) for vehicles that are driven in states that use road salt in the winter. Unfortunately, even thought this vehicle was purchased and driven in nebraska the first six years, and nebraska is a heavy user of rock salt on its state highways, the state of nebraska was excluded from the region. The recall (#20v-769) states that "there have been no reports of occurrences (of the broken drive shaft) outside of the salt-belt region. " if it was not a false statement when published, it is a false statement now, as my car is outside of the 21 states referenced as the "salt belt region", and a Honda Accord forum search shows that many other people outside of the region have experienced the same failure.

The car can't start because of the recall.
Statement by american Honda regarding left and right front drive shaft recalls our 2011 Honda Accord, driven by our grandson, had experienced a possible breakage of the drive shaft, leaving him stranded on an off-ramp on the freeway. It appears Honda has had recalls for this mechanical failure on a limited number of vn numbers. I did find that there had been over 292 complaints According to NHTSA campaign number xxx. I did reach out to Honda, and with no explanation other than no recalls on this VIN [xxx [xxx] selective safety recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. My Honda is shifting harsh going into 5th gear and sometimes reverse is not available. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they are telling me I need a new transmission to the tune of $9,600. It only has 64,000 miles and the warranty recently expired. I took the car to another mechanic and he told me the same thing. There is no way that the transmission should go out at such low miles. Honda needs to step up and take care of this problem. There are many complaints about this issue but nothing is being done. I have the 7 year/100,00 mile warrany but the car is a 2018. This was the first year of the 10-speed transmission and many people are having problems. This needs to be addressed.
There is a clicking noise from both sides of the wheels and it causing to vibrate at higher speeds. Cclicking sound is more prominent when turning from left to right. I am concerned that the axles may fail as I see online that a recall has been issued for the lubricant used in manufactoring the part.

I purchased this 2018 Honda Accord sport brand new from the dealership, relying on Honda’s longstanding reputation for reliability and longevity. At approximately 120,000 miles, the vehicle suffered a blown head gasket during normal driving conditions. The vehicle has been properly maintained According to Honda’s recommended schedule. I have already opened a claim with Honda corporate regarding this issue and am currently awaiting their response. Despite proper maintenance, this catastrophic engine failure occurred, suggesting a design or manufacturing defect rather than misuse. This issue presents both a safety concern and a substantial financial burden, as I am a single mother of four who depends on this vehicle for daily transportation. Based on reports from other owners, this appears to be a widespread defect affecting 10th-generation Honda Accords with the 1. 5l turbo engine, which I respectfully request NHTSA investigate.
Transmission keeps malfunctioning from 1-2 and 2-3 gear shifts. Mainly prominent on the 2-3 gear shift having issues. Severe transmission jerk and sometimes slams into the next gear. This has been happening since I bought the car at 52k miles and it is currently at 62k miles. It can be available for inspection upon request. It also jerks on downshift. The transmission fluid has been drained and filled with Honda genuine atf 2. 0 but the issue still persists after the service. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. It has put my safety at risk because in low speed traffic my speed is unpredictable and I am worried of hitting a car in front of me. It is also an issue for vehicles behind me as well because the vehicle cannot find the gear and doesn't accelerate properly. When it slams into the next gear it seems to be a severe safety hazard for me and my passengers.
I was turning into my parking space after work. The car suddenly showed every single alarm possible it started driving incredibly poorly at low speeds. I turned the car off. I let it rest for a minute. I turned it off and it was horribly slow, but it was able to pull it into the parking space. I did not call a tow truck at this time because the last time they towed into an impound lot and it took days to get it to the dealership. They tried to hold my car for ransom for thousands of dollars. This is a brand new vehicle has broken down multiple times. Honda is trying to externalize flame. The dealership takes no ownership of their faulty merchandise.

A 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5t developed an engine misfire, coolant loss, and reduced acceleration shortly after purchase from a dealership on 01/07/2026 (around 156,000 miles / $15,000). On 01/23/2026, during a Honda dealer inspection at about 157,255 miles, the technician noted misfires on startup, found the coolant overflow reservoir empty, pressure-tested the system, and confirmed coolant leaking into cylinders 3 and 4 from the head gasket. The dealer recommended head gasket replacement plus spark plugs, drive belt, and valve adjustment. I was told that continued driving could worsen the condition, leading to overheating and further engine damage. After that diagnosis, the vehicle’s drivability worsened, and it became unsafe to rely on due to misfires and loss of acceleration, especially on the highway. The selling dealership refused to assist, claiming the defect was not present at the time of sale; Honda America acknowledged the head gasket concern but denied a goodwill claim, citing the high cost of the issue and lack of NHTSA enforcement on this issue. An independent repair shop then provided a second inspection/estimate consistent with the same head-gasket repair scope. The vehicle and repair records are available for inspection. No crash or injury occurred, but the defect caused a sudden loss of power and overheating while driving; I was stuck on the highway on two occasions with my hazard lights on after acceleration completely halted. Warning symptoms (the engine light) only appeared when the car suddenly stopped accelerating. Two days after an around-$5,000 headgasket repair, drivability problems and multiple dashboard warnings appeared, including turbo-related concerns; this concern is ongoing.
My vehicle has an open safety recall 25v785 related to improper software programming of the integrated control module cpu, which can cause loss of drive power while driving. I brought the vehicle to an authorized tempe Honda dealer (8030 south autoplex loop, tempe, az 85284) to have the recall completed. The dealer confirmed the recall is a software icm update, but refused to perform the recall unless I paid approximately $981 plus tax to replace the original oem audio head unit. The dealer stated that over-the-air infotainment updates were previously declined and claimed this prevents completion of the safety recall. The recall was not completed. The vehicle remains unrepaired for a known safety defect that can result in loss of drive power while in operation. Dealer refusal was documented in writing.

Was operating the vehicle at about 30mph and the braking system started malfunctioning by giving me limited braking power and throwing a bunch of lights on the dash along with sudden loss of acceleration. Tried to press the pedal again and it didn’t respond I drifted to a stop in the middle a lane in the road. Had to shut vehicle off then restart to regain function. All conditions were clear outside. The dealer I bought it from has been very suspicious since the purchase. Bought as a “certified pre-owned” but have had nothing but problems in the couple weeks of owning. Such as the tpms system continuously going off saying “low tire pressure” the dealer has seen it multiple times and still can’t figure out the problem. They said they’re gonna start “throwing random parts at it” issues just continue to get worse with little to no cooperation with the dealership. Will be inspected in the morning once it’s towed in. No longer feel safe operating vehicle. Warning lamps came on after the malfunction. Then flickered on and off a few times then stayed on when I restarted the vehicle.
The vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine malfunction resulting in a no-start condition. The vehicle is currently inoperable and is available for inspection upon request. The engine failure caused the vehicle to lose power and become unreliable, creating a risk of breakdown while driving, which could have resulted in being stranded in traffic or an unsafe location and posed a risk to my personal safety and the safety of others. Yes. An independent repair facility confirmed the vehicle would not start and diagnosed the engine as failed. The vehicle was subsequently towed to another facility, where the condition was again documented. The vehicle has been inspected by independent repair facilities. The extended warranty company, route 66, reviewed the claim and denied coverage based on their assessment. No inspection by the manufacturer or law enforcement has occurred. Prior to the failure, the vehicle exhibited warning indicators and operational issues, including overheating symptoms. These issues worsened over time and ultimately resulted in complete engine failure and a no-start condition.
Complete loss of power on acceleration. Car goes limp while driving on highway or a 50 mph street - very dangerous to have loss of power when other cars are driving fast too. We have replaced the spark plugs, coils, and fuel injectors. That was a waste of time and money bc the same problem existing- loss of power again! turns out, it’s bc the head gasket has a design flaw - deep grooves between the cylinder heads and head bolts that are not strong or tight enough. I have lost all trust for Honda bc this has not been issued as a recall. After quick online research- everyone is having the same issue who has these models, this needs to be a safety recall bc Honda created a faulty head gasket design. This car is not safe bc the head gasket design, and I’m making payments on a car that I can’t even drive. Unethical for Honda to not take accountability for this! I’m driving my 03 Toyota that has over 300k miles is more reliable than this 2020 Honda - paying for a car I can’t drive makes me despise Honda for not issuing this recall.
My 2018 Honda experienced a catastrophic engine failure (blown head gasket) at only 30,012 miles. A head gasket is not a wear item and should not fail at such low mileage. I previously reported related symptoms during dealer service visits in July 2024 and August 2025, including signs consistent with cooling or engine performance issues, prior to the complete failure. The vehicle has been properly maintained, has not been abused or modified, and shows no signs of neglect. Honda has denied goodwill assistance solely due to vehicle age, despite the extremely low mileage and premature nature of the failure. This appears to be a durability defect resulting in premature engine failure well below expected service life.
Loss of power engine malfunction on 2022 Honda Accord sport 1. 5 t experiencing repeated misfire codes, fuel injector failure, and suspected head gasket coolant intrusion. Vehicle has never overheated and maintenance has been performed as required. A second Honda service center advised, they have repaired multiple Accord sport 1. 5 vehicles with the same failure pattern. Honda corporate opened case #16059306 but multiple voicemails to assigned case contact have gone unanswered. Concerned about safety due to potential engine failure or loss of power while driving.

My driver side cv axle snapped in half as I was reversing my vehicle onto my parking pad, as a result of a failure from manufacturing, the roads were treated in my area from snow we had gotten a day prior. I have always lived in a salt belt state PA and this vehicle was originally offered and sold in a salt belt state from new jersey. Never had this happen to any of my vehicles, there was no warning, no dash lights anything no sounds prior to. Had I'd been driving to work I would've been killed and potentially someone else could've been seriously injured or killed! Honda needs to extend their "recall" because there are surely a lot more vehicles affected than they like to admit. My mechanic came and showed me exactly what happened the axle rod snapped right in the middle and he told me he's had to replace a countless amount of them on my same vehicle because they all break in that spot due to a manufacture failure and he told me I needed to look into the recall!.

2014 Honda Accord hybrid purchased new, completed all routine and recommended maintenance over its life. - the passenger side drive shaft failed on may 5, 2025, pulling into our driveway, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. - the driver’s side drive shaft failed on December 4, 2025, leaving a shopping center parking lot, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. Attached are photos of both driveshafts, which clearly show the similarities in the failures. I have the parts for the driver’s side in my possession and am happy to furnish them for analysis. These failures are catastrophic in that the vehicle was rendered undrivable with a loss of control without warning. This vehicle is used daily for highway commuting and had this failure occurred on the highway at 65 mph, I believe it would have caused a serious crash of this vehicle and likely caused a multi-vehicle accident given the sudden nature of the failure and the lack of control the vehicle experienced upon failure. Honda service bulletin 20-125 appears to address a very similar concern for Honda Accord “cvt models. ” the photos and inspection area listed in that bulletin seem to indicate that my car experienced a similar failure (bulletin attached); however, I was told by the dealership that my VIN was not subject to the recall. I believe the vehicle is subject to a similar defect as described in the service bulletin for other Honda Accord models and believe it should be investigated and included in the recall. These failures have cost $2,279. 47 in repair fees, approximately $400 in emergency towing and do not seem to be in line with routine maintenance or "wear and tear".
While driving my 2020 Honda Accord hybrid, VIN [xxx] , the car would start exhibiting rough engine feels, and all of the dashboard lights would come on. The car would lose power at highway speeds, and I’d have to pull over to turn the car off and on. When checking on obdii meter, getting p0301 codes. I have replaced the coils and plugs twice and still not better. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
After pulling my car in forward, my front cv axel was broke off and I had to have my car towed in to be fixed. The issue is consistent with a similar issue reported on [xxx] after reading through this, I need to know if I am at risk of further vehicle trouble now that my axel is repaired and if this is a recalled issue for my Honda Accord, then I want to ensure others can get this information right away. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On 11/19/2025, while operating my 2025 Honda Accord hybrid, I experienced a sudden and total loss of power while the vehicle was in motion. Despite pressing the accelerator, the vehicle failed to respond. I noticed the 'ready' indicator disappeared on the dashboard, signifying a powertrain system shutdown. This caused me to lose control of the vehicle's speed and positioning, resulting in a collision. I believe this incident is a direct result of the defective integrated control module (icm) software identified in NHTSA recall 25v-785 (manufacturer recall tn2), which causes the cpu to reset and cut drive power during operation.
The head gasket leaked and a piston warped. The symptom was feeling a piston misfire and then the car wouldn't go over 10 miles per hour. Our safety was compromised because we were on a busy (45mph) road and couldn't turn off quickly nor go fast to keep up with traffic. The problem has been reproduced at an independent service center. The vehicle has only been inspected by the mechanic. The previous week all the electrical systems reported a failure. That was repaired by replacing some hose that collapsed on itself. During the misfire, the check engine light flashed, but it didn't before or after (when we were driving very slowly).
This needs to be addressed. Everyone knows now that there is a high incidence of head gasket failure with Honda. The Honda head gasket class action lawsuit includes the following vehicles if equipped with 1. 5-liter or 2. 0-liter I-vtec turbocharged gasoline direct injection engines: 2018-2022 Honda Accord 2016-2022 Honda civic 2017-2022 Honda cr-v 2021-2022 Acura rdx 2019-2022 Acura tlx I got an "approximate cost" for a head gasket repair on a 2019 Honda Accord, of $3000 from the Honda dealer after previously getting a $3559 from an independent. The dealer just came back to me with an estimate of $5781. 32. I check reliability ratings before ever buying a car. It's a Honda! if they are not willing to do the right thing, maybe they should be made to? this needs to be a recall. Do you even know how many americans have been affected by this? including those that haven't complained or reported it?.
This is the second time I am reporting this same issue with my Accord. I see there is now a recall but I need this to be on file as I can't continue owning this vehicle if this continues. This is a scary situation when you are behind the whell. On 10/30/25, I was 60 miles into a trip and the car lost all power on a major highway. While almost being rear ended by cars in the left lane, I was able to get to the shoulder. Dashboard lit up with numerous error messages. (see photos). I was able to shut the car down and restart. Upon restart, the brake system light stayed on the remaining trip 50 miles home. Brake system - brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. I took it in for service and upon urging them that this was a bigger issue, they told me it was because I don't drive the car enough and it was a battery issue. Very frustrating.
The transmission in my 2004 Honda Accord v6 3. 0l is experiencing a serious safety defect. The transmission overheats while driving, begins slipping, and eventually the vehicle will not move at all. When this happens, I lose the ability to accelerate or maintain speed, creating a dangerous situation for me and other drivers. I have to pull over and wait for the transmission to cool before the car will move again. This failure matches the symptoms described in Honda’s prior transmission recall 04v176000 (overheating and gear failure due to lubrication issues). I have contacted Honda about this issue, and they opened case #16008926, but the problem is ongoing and has not been resolved. The problem is reproducible and happens repeatedly after the transmission warms up. Warning symptoms include overheating and severe slipping before total loss of movement. This is a major safety hazard because the vehicle can suddenly lose power in traffic.
