1) new wheel bearing at 10,768 miles
2) new transmission and removal/replacement of same shift cable at 10,791 miles (service tech acknowledges the noise on the work ticket)
3) rotate and balance of tires due to a serious vibration problem in the steering wheel at 10,791 miles
4) resurfacing of original rotors, 4-wheel alignment due to noise at 11,002 miles
5) replacement of old rotors with new rotors and brake pads at 11,184 miles. We cannot understand why all this work has been performed on our vehicle if everyone now states that they cannot hear the grinding noise. We have made multiple good faith attempts (5 logged which includes the final attempt, and 1 not logged), to have our car repaired correctly. At this time, we are only left with the route of arbitration procedures or be left with a substandard Honda product.

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. While driving between 5-60 mph, the transmission would shift into second gear. The contact heard a whining noise coming from the engine compartment. When the accelerator pedal was released and gently reapplied, the transmission would shift back into the proper gear. The vehicle was repaired for NHTSA campaign id number 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission) in 2004. The failure occurred before and after the recall repair was performed. The failure was not duplicated or repaired by the dealer. The current mileage was 117,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

I bought a pre owned certified 2001 Honda Accord with 60k miles on it for a little over market value because I believe in Honda products. At approx. 70k miles the transmission failed and was replaced by the dealer with a remanufactured trans. I was told only a limited 12/12 warranty was being issued for this and that if trans failed outside of the warranty extension I would be out of luck. Currently the vehicle has 82k miles and is showing signs of tranny problems again. The vehicle on occasions will downshift with a thump when decelerating into 2nd and 1st gear and there is a whirling sound which is only audiable when the vehicle is in gear. I have taken my vehicle back to the dealer that installed the reman unit, however they continue to dispute my claims saying that the noise is being made by a faulty wheel bearing. As you can see this makes it difficult to document my complaints regarding this issue if the dealer will not address it. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on how this issue can be resolved. Thanks

While shifting gears vehicle will not move. A loud noise was heard coming from underneath the vehicle. Consumer drove the vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that transmission needed to be replaced due to worn out parts.

I purchased my $34,000 2003 Accord on may 13, 2003 from route 23 Honda in pomton plains, NJ. After purchasing it, I noticed that the plastic/glass moldings around the doors were were very deformed. Three moldings have been fixed after 2 times being in for service, and one has yet to be fixed(waiting for part). The radio was making a squeaking noise and deformed looking, and they replaced the entire unit. On the right front tire well, there was a molding that was never screwed in properly, and began to hang down, which was replaced. The shifter has a loose stitch on it, which is becoming very sharp and can possibly cut someone. The part was put on order 3 months ago, but I was never notified of it's arrival. The driver side windshield wiper nozzle sprays directly into the wiper arm. This was brought in for service 4 times, and finally another dealership(sussex Honda) ordered a new nozzle which will hopefully work. The car has a slight burning smell when I park the car after driving. I brought this to Honda's attention, but of course they didn't find anything wrong with it. The car also has a slight grinding feeling that can mostly be felt between 1500 and 2500 rpms. I brought this into service 4 times and they couldn't find anything wrong(again). Along with that, when I put the car in drive, after about 20 feet it makes a horrible grinding noise and feeling in the gears. The car also seems to lack the power that it should have. I know this because I had a 2003 Accord lx v6 coupe, and then traded it in for a 2003 Accord ex v6 coupe. The lx had a lot more power than the ex. Also the lx had no wiper problems, grinding problems, or other problems that I have with the ex. Overall I have found 10 defects with my car within the first month of having it. After all of these problems, and having the dealership and the Honda service center hotline treat me as if I was making up these problems and that it was my fault for having these problems I will never buy another Honda again!.
Noticed lurching and trasnmission slipping. The car was having difficulty changing gears. Next day I had car checked out was advised that transmission fluid was black( burnt) and the motor mount was also weak. The following day I took the car to ed voyles Honda for my 45,000 mile/3 yr service. I was then advised by service advisor, jim vartiak, that large metal pieces came out when the trasnmission fluid was being drianed and was a sign of deterioration of the trasnmission. After my service on 10-28-02 I went to work. On my commute back, I heard a loud noise and then the check engine light came on while I was on the expressway. The vehicle was not accelerating well, the gears were not shifting. When I got to my destination I noticed that I was parked . When I put the car in reverse the engine had to be reved up to make the slightest move. It took several minutes to move three feet. The next morning, 10-30-02, the car was driving about 40 mph then sudddenly dropped to 10 mph during a busy hour approx. 7:30 am. At times the Honda Accord would not even move at all and then it would suddenly jot out. I made it home, but the car is completely immoble the transmission is gone. The worst part is there was no help offered for a resolution. I have made calls and also written to America Honda motor CO. , inc, but I have not yet recieved any response from my. Correspondence. After coming to a stop at a stop sign, the car would not move when I pressed on the gas pedal. Was forced to downshift to make the car move; d3/d4 were not working and engine merely revved as though I was in neutral. Problem occurs intermittently. Dealer was unable to find problem and did not repair. Two months later, the transmission has blown out completely and most gears do not work or produce loud griding noises along with severe jolting. The customer contended the brakes were sometimes inoperative/noisy/rubbing and did not stop the car. The customer also had multiple complaints of service at the dealership. The transmission did not shift properly. Dealership was unable to duplicate abnormal shifting operations. The engine ran rough and the engine check light illuminated, engine had normal noise. Other complaints included the tcs light on, door ajar light, brake light and seat belt light all illuminated while driving. License plate bracket came off. Twisted seat belts, rear door, bumper and dash panel replacement.
The vehicle's transmission produced a clicking sound when shifting gears. The dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission made noise while the vehicle was in park. The vehicle would rattle as the vehicle was shifted. The service dealer stated that this was a common problem.
When shifting to reverse, loud thump comes from under car. Upon initial startup, engine makes loud thump, motor seems to shift or move, creak or tapping noise coming from front supsension or frame of car when moving forward from complete stop, dealer could not find problem.

Automatic transmission emits noise ("thunk") while vehicle is moving in reverse, accompanied by abrupt shift as if not fully engaged in gear.
The day after we purchased the vehicle we noticed a loud "thump" when putting the car in reverse. This noise was heard almost every time the vehicle was shifted into reverse. Upon calling the service dept. At the dealer where the vehicle was purchased we were told this was a normal sound when shifting into reverse. The noise continued to happen & it was obvious it was not normal so we again called the dealer's service dept. Which then said it was indeed not normal & to bring it in. It apparently was a known defect in 2000 Accord v6 models. The transmission was replaced. In Aug 2000 the car would not start. It was not a battery problem as lights, etc. Worked. I tried several times to start the car & upon turning the ignition had no response. None of the dash lights indicating engine trouble remained on, although they did intially come on & then go out. I let the car sit for 15-20 mins at which time I then was able to start the car. This problem has not yet repeated itself.
Possible parking pawl failure, loud clanging noise in front engine compartment as if metal component broke. In moving shifter from drive to reverse loud transmission gear noise is evident. From reverse to drive noise is not as loud. When shifter is moved to park there seems to be more movement in vehicle as transmission gear locks into parking gear. This is not normal wear on transmission , as dealer states.
Was driving and transmission failed to shift properly. This caused vehicle to move very slowly. Can hear a buzzing noise like its trying sto shift into proper gear after gas passes through. Have taken vehicle to dealer a few times, but mechanic could not find cause of problem. Problem was getting worse.
The brakes make a loud clicking noise (similar to the sound heard when cars running over the sewer manhole cover) during the first brake when the vehicle has been parked for a while (2-3 hours) or after the gear has been shifted to reverse and back to drive. Dealer cannot find the problem.
Problems with vehicle's steering and suspension. There were steering problems, clicking noises that had run through the shifter and the steering wheel when placed into gear. There was no problem found in the steering or the suspension. The steering wheel did not return completely and when it did it would do so slowly, it also moved in circles. The brake pedal made noises when it was applied and metal like noises that had come from beneath the vehicle. The vehicle drove rough over bumps. When stepping on the brake pedal before going into gear, it felt as if the vehicle was already in park. The consumer was told that the vehicle rode rough due to too much air pressure in the tires (over 50lbs of pressure in two of the tires. The front brake pads and rack and pinion were replaced.
Consumer stated the light that illuminates the settings in the automatic shifting lever does not light when the lights are turned on at night, therefore the consumer does not know if the vehicle is in drive or reverse, also when the brakes were pressed there was a noise coming from below the shifter for the automatic transmission .
