Purchased a 2000 Honda Accord with about 60,000miles on it. After about 15,000 miles the transmission begins shifting very hard from 1st-2nd. At approx. 130,000 miles the car begins to shake and not shift out of first, with my rpm soaring to over 3500. The mechanic tells me the lower bands are "burnt up" to the tune of 1200$. That is just to have the bands replaced, and with all the problems I am hearing with transmissions going out a 2nd and 3rd time on these year model Hondas it is hard to invest 1200 dollars into something that might go out again.

2002 Honda Accord with 115,000 miles; 15000 over warranty; check engine light came on last wk. ; while on interstate car began to shake. Took in and Honda reports it needs new transmission. Reports no longer under warranty. Problem this problem is a recurring problem that puts those that continue to drive these cars in danger. Because of the high number of complaints; not to mention the fact that the 2000 and 2001 models have been recalled and have the same exact transmission as the 2002, this vehicle should be recalled. I am ashamed that Honda is not standing behind their product!!!.

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. When she drove over 50 mph the vehicle was shaking. The tires were rotated and aligned; however, that didn't correct the problem. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle wasn't included in recall 04v176000. The current and failure mileages were 130,000.

I own and drive a '98 Honda Accord ex 4-cylinder with automatic transmission. The transmission had been having a rough shift in the 2nd gear for about 1 year when driving the car from stationary to moving. But the car was running fine on the higher gears. I was able to drive on highways till few weeks ago. Around the 15th of Dec 2007 I suddenly started to have vibrations in the car and strange hitting noises came from the engine when driving on the highway. The car felt dragging on the highway (i270s) which panicked me and I have to give more gas to pull to safety. The car still rust, but I'm not using it for about a month now because of fear of getting into an accident because I have heard cases with similar transmission issues where the car down shifts to 2nd gear suddenly on a highway without any warning, which will lead to an accident with the car coming behind me. Dealer says that to fix this problem, the transmission needs to be replaced with a cost of around $3200. I referred the case to american Honda, but they refused to do anything to resolve this safety issue. The current mileage on my car is around 105000 but the problem started when it had around 93000 miles. The 90000 mile service was done at the right time and the transmission oil was changed at that time using genuine Honda manufactured transmission oil. I also have changed engine oil regular and done all maintenance as per the schedules provided in the '98 Honda Accord manual. The car had been under professional care all through the time I owned. This transmission related issue is a real safety issue which was addressed in the 2001, 2002 and 2003 Honda Accords by voluntary recalls by Honda motor corporation. Honda had changed the transmissions on these cars to resolve this issue. But that recall needs to be extended to the 1998 model cars as well because the Accord model had been completely redesigned in 1998 when, I believe, this problem had originally started.

1) the vehicle shakes at high speed. 2) the vehicle at slow speed sounds like the wheel bearings are grinding themselves down
3) the vehicle vibrates at slow and high speed but more so at high speed when pressing the brake peddle
4) the vehicle was brought to the dealership 3 times for these problems with the drive train and the brakes. Still after the third time of having new brakes and wheel bearing the vehicle continues to vibrate to such a manner as I feel it highly unsafe.

I was driving back from sf to our home in santa rosa, and I noticed smoke streaming from the top of the steering column. Then the odometer dropped from 65 to 0, went back to 65, then fluctuated. As I took the exit off the freeway, the car was losing power, and jerked when I gave it gas. I pulled over and called the tow truck. The engine did not start when the tow truck driver tried it, although it cranked. The car was towed to marin Honda. They tested and found the electrical portion of the ignition switch had failed. They replaced it but at the same time the d4(trans gear selection)light began to flash. The service advisor said that it's a completely different problem, and that we should take the car back to the mechanic who replaced the trans fluid 7 weeks ago. (my wife told the customer service advisor that we had the trans work done a couple of months ago when it fact it was just changing fluid as part of regular maintenance). Marin Honda charged us $205 for the replacement of ignition switch. The d4 starts flashing when the engine is started and shift to any one of gears. And it makes a big clunk and the whole car shakes when the gear is shifted to reverse or drive. I called marin Honda cust advisor and told him it must be related to ignition switch replacement, but he's adamant that it has nothing to do with it. When we checked your website and looked under "recall" for 1999 Accord, we found it had ignition sw recalls in three different years, 2002, 2003, and 2005. Ignition switch(2002), cylinder wear, collar, plate latch(2003), interlock function(2005). Could trans range sensor ckt malfunction be caused by heat from the ignition wiring burning out?.

When I drive 40mph to 60phm under light to moderate load my vehicle shakes and vibrates excessively. I have asked my local Honda dealer on any service bulletins but apparently nothing outside of my airbag. I am concerned because a lot of people report online the exact same problem. " Honda case # n012008-04-1100-403 Honda at 1-800-999-1009 NHTSA campaign id number : 04v176000 my car a 2004 Honda Accord 4 door 4 cylinder. When I am drive at a speed of about 25 mph the car trembles/shakes momentarily and then continues to gain speed. If I continue driving at about 25 mph the car trembles/shakes momentarily without warning. The same issue with trembling and shaking happens also when I drive the car at a speed of about 40 mph. This issue does not occur at any other driving speed ranges. The second gear in the automatic transmission momentarily trembled the car. I have been told by the dealership that this problem can cause gear failure and transmission lockup resulting in a crash. The driving tremble problem started happening at about 50k miles. I brought the car to the dealership and the problem could not be replicated so it was not repaired. I brought the car back at 75k, 80k, 85k, 90k. Finally at 95k the problem could be easily detected by the mechanics and they wanted to try some simple changes. First the mechanics tried fuel injector cleaners. At 97k the mechanics tried changing the erg or ekg valve. At 99k the mechanic changed the catalytic converted heat shield and changed the spark plugs. The problem continue at 101k the mechanic now tells me the problem is with the transmission and that I should think about replacing the transmission because the wear of the gears can cause a tooth to chip or gear breakage which could result in the gear failure. The gear failure can result in a transmission lockup, which could result in a crash. I am upset because the car transmission was under warranty from 80k to 100k miles and I had bought the Honda care warranty. Now it".
Is already time for someone to take real action again Honda and the problem that a lot of 05 Accord owner are having with very strong vibration from under the car. Making any trip unpleasant. I have research the web and they are hundreds of Accord owner suffering from this problem with no answer from Honda. Only answer available is According to the dealers, thatã‚s normal which is not. In my case my car is to the point that at any rpm you feel you are driving a car that has 300k miles on it when is a brand new engine. I really donã‚t want to keep wasting my time with dealers because all of them tell you something different or thatã‚s just normal. I am requesting that someone make Honda aware of this issue and to find out a solution because this vibration just seem to be getting worse everyday. -vibration happens at any time when car is idle and any gear is engaged. -when accelerating very strong vibration is felt from under the car and gas pedal and wheels. -(dealer have check alignment, rotates tires, and check pressure on tire still same problem just getting worse). This vibration makes car powerless. At point driving in highway that car becomes powerless. Gas pedal have to be pushed really hard just to get it moving. Had a few incident in which almost got hit by other car because car just wouldn't pick up properly.
I have a 1997 Honda Accord, model lx-v6, VIN 1hgce6647va026402 with automatic transmission. I was driving home from philadelphia and nearing home when after starting from a stop light in d4 (auto) the car vibrated vigorously and stalled. (the vibration and stalling was like what happens when operating a manual transmission car and releasing the clutch suddenly. ) I pulled over and started the engine from park to d4 and again I had the same problem. I repeated with d2 and the car did not stall although the engine was making some noise. I drove the car to a nearby Honda dealer, planet Honda in union, NJ and explained the troblem. The car was left at the dealer for 2 days but they were unable to give a reason for this. The noise in the engine still appears and the dealer is suggesting replacing the whole transmission. This is a safety hazard and if the problem occurred on the highway instead of a local road it could have been hazardous.

My 1998 Honda Accord lx model had atf leak at around 70,000 miles. I got the axial seal replaced and power flush the atf. Now my transmission started slipping and the car is vibrated when I shift from p to n or r or d4,3,2,1. I was told by Honda that I need to replace a new transmission. I personally think Honda should take this matter seriously. I do trust Honda for the reputation and I am trying to be patient before I am loosing my trust. I found out on the web more than 1000 complaints about Honda's transmission. I bought my 98 Honda because my 92 Honda which has 150k and it is still running find.
The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord ex. While the contact was driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake with an intense vibration. The "check engine" warning light illuminated. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure recurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the technician informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. Also, he reset the transmission code. The contact stated that the transmission had been previously replaced twice. The failure mileage was 2.

Around 6000 km, whenever I step on the gas pedal, I would feel the car shake slightly. . And an engine sound. At first, I thought I just needed an oil change, even though 6000 was a bit low km for a oil change. . . I thought maybe because I purchase the car in winter time, and it was now summer time. I took the car in for oil change, also tellign them the problem. . . And sure enough. . After the examination, they told me there was oil leak bottom of the car. . . And the whole transmission needed to be replaced. The service centre also told me that this is a very rare incident, and it is consider a defect. . And this kind of stuff only happens to cars over 600,000. Also that, if I had waited. . . All the oil could have dripped and would cause a whole engine failure. Either way. . It was not a good feeling to know that I needed to replace my transmission at 6000km.
The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact noticed an excessive vibration in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the transmission would have to be replaced. After the repair the failure continued. The transmission was replaced seven times to no avail. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000. Updated 11/22/lj.
While driving 25 mph vehicle jerked and vibrated uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that transmission needed to be replaced.
Within five days of purchasing this vehicle, owner noticed vehicle shaking and shuddering at 25 mph and 40 mph under light throttle. This condition was and is repeatable. Problem is always present at aforementioned speeds. Dealer was notified, and owner was informed that dealer would contact manufacturer regarding this problem. Owner was contacted 01/04/00 by dealer, and told that manufacturer will be shipping a complete transmission assembly to replace factory installed transmission. Dealer stated that upon their receipt of transmission, they will contact owner to schedule 2-3 day r&r of defective transmission. Owner is concerned about potential future powertrain failures due to the complexity and scope of this proceedures which will take place at dealership. Owner would expect extended powertrain warranty for this vehicle.
Automatic transmission hesitation since day 1. When accelerating from a slow or stop position, the engine hesitates, the car shakes and makes rattling noise, then sometimes stalls. The engine is not up/downshifting properly and poses serious safety conc.
While driving down the parkway, consumer stated vehicle suddenly started loosing power. Took to dealer and they stated transmission was replaced. Consumer states one week later vehicle started to vibrate, hard to switch gears, and there was a burning smell. Please provide any further information. Ts.
Honda replaced the converter and transmission, but the car still vibrates sometimes on the level but most of the time when going up hill. I am almost ready to trade the car in for a different make. The local mechanics cant seem to be able to help.
