Cruise Control problems of the 1996 Honda Civic

Six problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 1996 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Using cruise control, set cruise at 60mph. Cruise control worked fine. Applied foot to accelerator. Car continued to accelerate after removing foot. Applied brake and cruise control did not release. Applied clutch and engine continued to increase rotations per minute (rpm). I believe that engine rpm must have hit a threshold then disengaged.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/08/1999

While traveling the engine idled without indications and then started to take off. Consumer depressed the brakes to stop the vehicle. Please provide further information. Ak.

3 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/24/1996

I recently purchased a 1996 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. The cruise control works only intermittently, and usually it does not work. At times when going over 40 mph on the rare occasion that I have gotten the cruise control to work, it just clicks off by itself. I am disabled and must have cruise control when driving for any significant period of time. I need to know if there is a fix for this.

4 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/19/1996

Problems with cruise control.

5 Cruise Control problem

The airbag light is on, indicating that the airbag is disfunctioning and recently the horn and the cruise control stopped working too.

6 Cruise Control problem
