Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1998 Honda Civic

Three problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1998 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2000

Backing out of parking space consumer shifted gear into reverse and vehicle suddenly accelerated backwards at a high rate of speed with foot still on brakes, causing vehicle to run into a bakery store.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 05/30/1998

While driving at 40 mph, the throttle stuck, causing engine to race and vehicle would not decrease speed when applying brakes.

3 Speed Control Linkage problem

Accelerator pedal sticks slightly at intial acceleration. Yh.
