5 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2016

Takata recall. I'm not sure what constitutes a timely recall or repair, but it's been 6 months since anybody has been able to sit in the front seat and I'm sick of looking like an uber driver. I'm also not convinced that the driver's side airbag is safe, and I'd rather not receive a molten hunk of metal through my neck for the sin of having a fender bender. All in all I am a very unhappy Honda owner. ,.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2014

I am having a serious issue with water leaking in through my side curtin driver side air bag when it rains. I spoke to two different dealerships and they want to take apart my whole car and both also said completely different things. It apparently is not covered under my warrant because it is a water leak but that is unfair. It is most likely destorying my air bag and that is a safety concern. Honda corporate told me they have never heard of such an issue and that their hands are tied.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

4/10/14 picked up my car from a body shop referred by victory Honda drove a couple of blocks turned left 3 to 4 seconds after the turn my drivers side airbag and the airbag in the side of my seat deployed at the same time without collision at the same time. Causing a continual ringing in my ear. Took car back to body shop they took my car back to victory Honda and told them I hit a curb. Victory Honda, Honda of America, and the insurance company for the body shop are all sticking to that story. I did not hit anything and now I am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle as the seat belts and the remaining airbags are all disconnected. Thank you for your time. 8 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

Honda Civic lx 2 door coupe. My wife and I were driving on quiet residential street looking at homes. Going slow - estimate10-12 mph - we had just been at a complete stop looking at a house. Foot was on brake - going down slight hill. Approached two metal sewer covers in middle of road - one in front of the other. Middle of car went over first cover and I pressed brake harder because road was more uneven then appeared and car sits alittle low to ground. Was about to go over second cover and passenger side airbags deployed with a load explosion. When I opened my eyes, I saw smoke and thought car was on fire. Wife was holding right arm, said it was broken (it wasn't). It took a while to realize what happened. I inspected bottom of car and engine compartment. I saw no damage and started the car - not sure if I shut it off or happened automatically. Driver seat belt was locked in position. Passenger seat belt worked. Car ran and operated normally. Airbags caused a lot of interior damage. I took pictures of road and sewer covers from different angles. While the car was between the two sewer covers, I felt a vibration come up the steering wheel. Wife felt and heard nothing. I suspect bottom of car hit edge of second cover because it's slightly elevated. Although there were no marks on asphalt pavement or metal cover. My questions are: * why did airbags deploy? why did they deploy at this speed? why only the passenger airbags? why did seat belts lock on driver side and not passenger side? I've called Honda dealership twice. No replies. Insurance inspected. Car is in Honda shop for repairs. I asked shop to provide any information on the computer at time of deployment.

9 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Took car to my mechanic for srs light on. He put it on his computer and code 32-10 comes up for "open or increased resistance in right side airbag inflater". He said to take it to Honda dealer for repair. Honda service man tells me wiring harness needs to be replaced a $1,200. 00 repair!! Honda has had many other people having the same problem. Honda even has a service bulletin out for this problem. Says floor wire harness has a poor crimp in it. This is a safety issue. Honda needs to have a recall on this!!.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

Air bag failure.

11 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

I have a 2007 Honda Civic ex with 43k miles on it. Recently my srs light came on. I went to the dealership I purchased the new car from and they diagnosed it and said I needed to replace my passenger side airbag. I find this absurd since the car is 3 years old and to top it off, I missed the warranty by 6k miles. I had the repair done because I failed my safety inspection and the cost was $595, not including the $89 fee to diagnose it. I've done some research on this problem and have noticed a slew of customer complaints with very similar problems.

12 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2010

On 2/2009 I was rear ended in my 2007 Honda Civic si during a low speed accident (5mph) the repairs completed were a new rear bumper cover and paint by a Honda dealer body shop. About 11 months later the airbag light would flick on and off on the dash. During warranty repair work to 3rd gear issues (1/2010) that I've now had multiple times, I asked that Honda look into the airbag light. They replaced what they said was a bad sensor in the rear bumper. 5 months later, on 6/22/2010 during the 3rd gear issue being fixed again, the airbag light was randomly coming on again. Once more, I asked that Honda look into this. They informed me that it was a faulty sensor again and they would have to replace it, if that didn't work, they would need to replace a flooring harness. All airbag sensor work done has been paid for by the insurance company involved in the accident on 2/2009. On 7/30/2010 while driving home from work, the side impact and side curtain airbags deployed on the drivers side, causing damage to the inside of the vehicle and minor injuries to myself (jaw pain, sore ribs, and ear ache) luckily, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pull over in a safe location. After talking to multiple people, I was advised to report this incident to the NHTSA.

13 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2008

On Wednesday, June 11, 2008 I was driving from Mar vista, CA to san leandro, CA with my 4 year old son and 20 year old sister in law. We were on the 580 w driving in the far left lane at 65mph at 11:30 am when we heard an explosion in the rear of the car. The car began veering toward the right. I tried to pull over into the emergency lane, but the car keep veering toward the right and we hit the center divide. The car was perpendicular to the divide. The air bags did not deploy. We were probably traveling at 45mph when we hit the center divide. I am very concerned that the airbags did not deploy. My car is a 2007 Honda Civic coupe ex and it had about 8300 miles. I purchased the car in July 2007. The crash caused significant damage to the front left side of my car. The car is now at a body shop and is being repaired in san leandro, CA.

14 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2008

At 25 miles per hour, the driver crossed over to oncoming traffic and hit almost head on. The impact was slightly greater on the driver side of the front of the vehicle. The drivers front airbag, the driver seat side airbag and the side curtain for both sides of the vehicle deployed.

15 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2007

I collided with an SUV. Both cars were proceeding from a full stop and probably weren't doing more than 15 mph. Although the passenger side air bag deployed, it was so slow that if there had been a passenger the bag would have been completely useless. Although the other driver's insurance paid for the repair, the cost of my repair alone came to some 4 thousand dollars, I'm told mostly due to the cost of the air bag. What's the point of a useless air-bag that costs the earth to repair and deploys so slowly as to do nothing to prevent injury in the event of an accident?.
