Takata recall may 23,2016 manufacturer recall numberka5 NHTSA recall number16v-346 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary american Honda motor CO. , inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 Honda Civic vehicles. According to the equipment defect notifications (16e-042 and 16e-043) filed by takata, the propellant wafers in some of the subject inflators may degrade over time, which could lead to over-aggressive combustion in the event the airbag is activated. Overly aggressive combustion creates excessive internal pressure when the inflator is activated, which may cause the inflator body to rupture. Honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed. Safety risk in the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material possibly causing injury to vehicle occupant. Remedy the remedy parts needed to conduct passenger frontal airbag inflator recalls will become available in late summer/fall of 2016. Takata inflators - we have not received notification from manufacturer for airbag recall and fix.

4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

Takata recall (drivers side airbag): on January 10, 2017 at approximately 11am, driver started vehicle, pulled out of a parking lot, drove about 10 feet and the drivers side airbag deployed. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, nor did driver hit or run into any object on the road. Weather conditions were about 35-40 degrees, partly sunny skies. Vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealer, who stated the computer system shows impact conditions caused the drivers side airbag sensors to fire the airbag. After reporting the incident to my insurance company, the insurance adjuster inspected the vehicle at the Honda dealer, reporting the issue as "electronic failure". The adjuster's report also states there was no impact that caused the airbag to deploy. There is a recall for the passenger airbag inflator (NHTSA recall # 16v-346), which was replaced at no cost. However, the drivers airbag inflator is not covered (estimate of repair approx. $3,200). If the driver were 5 more minutes down the road, driver would have been on a 45 mph road. If anyone else has had an issue with the drivers side airbag, please inform the NHTSA.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2016

Takata inflators: the following is concerning my 2008 Honda Civic and Honda's failure in their recall campaign: 23 may 2016: Honda issues recall concerning vehicles in my model year and suggest I check my VIN against their database of recalled vehicles to see if my specific vehicle is affected. 27 may 2016: I contact Honda with VIN to see if my vehicle is affected. I am told that it is not. 27 July 2016: receive letter in mail saying a recall was issued on my vehicle on 23 may. 28 July 2016: I contact Honda again and they confirm that there is a recall on my vehicle. I was told that their system had not updated the new information when I called 4 days after the recall was issued. In the days immediately following a recall issue is most likely when consumers are to check to see if their product is affected. If databases are not updated to reflect current information, many consumers, like myself, may have been driving around for the past two months with dangerous air bags even though they did their do diligence to research their vehicles. Honda's suggestion to check your VIN against their recall database was an insufficient solution to the airbag issue. Honda's failure to update recall databases (until sometime after 27 may 2016) following the issue of their recall on 23 may 2016 was dangerously negligent.

7 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

It sure if it is a takayuki inflators recall - but the notice from Honda indicated that the repair would be available later summer or fall. It is now late December and I have lost the use of my front passenger seat with no update as to when this will be rectified. I have owned 6 Hondas and this may be the last. It is pathetic that we cannot even get an update. I want a car where all the seats are usable!!!.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2016

I purchased a 2008 Honda Civic in April of 2016, after I was in an accident where both of my front air bags deployed. Shortly after purchasing the 2008 Honda Civic I discovered there was a front passenger airbag recall. I immediately called my local Honda dealership. They took down my information and said that they would call me when the airbag can be fixed. The recall letter states in the event of a passenger frontal airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, potentially resulting in injury to vehicle occupants. The risk of such occurrence increases over time. it has now been a year since I reported the recall and have yet to be contacted to have it fixed. Due to my recent accident where both airbags deployed, I fear that I am in danger and this is the car that I have to drive daily. I have tried contacting Honda about my concerns and they have not responded. I just want them to buy my unsafe car back from me so that I can buy a safe vehicle to drive.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

The air bag light (srs light) has been coming on and off for about a month. The Honda dealer said it was a code 32-10, an open in the front passenger' side airbag inflator. Need to replace the floor wiring harness per sb 10-001, the srs portion of the floor harness has a poor crimp in it. That is on the dealer work order. The Honda dealer said the car is out of warranty, and the repair is about $1300. 00. This is not a wear item, wiring harness should not fail and cause a safety issue, inoperative air bag. Thank you for reviewing. I believe Honda has a ongoing problem that needs addressing. Also, I've requested the faulty wiring harness. If you would like to see it, please contact me.

10 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (carbone Honda in bennington, vermont) in 2013 where it was diagnosed that the driver side curtain air bag failed. The dealer reprogrammed the air bag system; however, the failure recurred. Since that time, the vehicle was included in the takata recall for the passenger side air bag. The vehicle received the repair; however, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that due to an opening on the driver side curtain air bag's first inflator, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and the air bag failed. The driver side curtain air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 06206996. The approximate failure mileage was 162,178.
