Takata recall. Honda refuses to come to my climate controlled garage and replace my recalled passager side air bag activator-seems maybe discrimination- age related. Maybe- or maybe just mean.
Tl- the contact owned a 2008 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving about 55 mph, the contact lost control and the vehicle crashed into a guard rail and flipped over a couple of times without warning. All the air bags deployed except the driver's side air bag. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was totaled and was towed away by the insurance company. The failure mileage was about 100,000. Fe.
Takata recall I was driving at about 15 to 20 miles an hour in a empty parking lot an went over a parking curb. The drivers side airbag opened up and hit my chest causing minor powder burns to my right arm and a small cut. The car had no damage and came to imediate stop before another curb in the lot.
Recall was dated 5/23/2016 to replace the passenger side air bag. I was notified this past summer that the parts were not available but I would be notified late summer/fall of 2016. It is now 1/11/2017 and I have not received a notification from them to replace the air bag. This is not acceptable since I can not have a passenger ride along until this is fixed. I would like this fixed ASAP or know what kind of compensation can be made. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. While driving 10 mph, the front passenger side air bag deployed inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 121,000.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags) for the front passenger side air bag; however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Addendum: reference odi number: 10748966. As of 6/19/2016 my Honda Civic has a recall for the passenger side airbag (VIN verified). I am not suppose to let anyone sit in the passenger seat until a Honda dealer fixes it. So now I have no airbag and no seat belt on the driver's side (because it deployed without any reason). . . I also have a loaded time bomb on the passenger side that Honda wants to fix. . . But still no recall on the driver's airbag because Honda doesn't think it needs to be recalled. Why isn't the NHTSA making Honda recall 2008 Honda Civics for the driver side airbag? does someone have to die first? my god, the driver side airbag is ticking time bomb! vr.
Takata recall: the dealership is not calling me to replace the passenger side airbag and/or piece that needs replacing. This is our family vehicle and we need the vehicle to travel from tucson, az to lodi, CA for the christmas holiday, 2016. It is dangerous to have a passenger in the front seat. It was supposed to be remedied by fall, 2016. I am ready to sue Honda!! I need an immediate fix for the vehicle or a replacement vehicle to use until my vehicle is fixed. Honda is not offering to give me a replacement vehicle!!!! I cannot put a passenger in my vehicle for fear of causing their death if there should be a vehicle accident. What am I supposed to do now? I have contacted Honda, gone repeatedly to safercar. Gov, and I am getting no response! help please!.
The recall notice for this passenger side airbag problem recommends not having anyone sit in the passenger seat. It has been 9 months since this recall was announced and my local Honda dealer informs me that Honda still has no solution to the problem. Literally this defect can kill a person in the event of a low speed accident that triggers the airbag. This is a life and death matter and Honda has not fixed it in 9 months! in addition to making my car less safe, this defect presumably lowers the resale value of my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. While driving 35 mph, the driver side air bag inadvertently deployed. As a result, the contact became unconscious and crashed into a pole. The contact sustained a whiplash that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.
Ran over a shallow pot hole on a city street. The car was going 10-15 miles per hour (5 feet after a complete stop at a stop sign). The car was traveling straight across a one way stop. The driver's side air bag exploded (did not deploy) and seat belt stopped retracting. Damage was also noted to the base of windshield on the driver's side.
My son was driving my 2008 Honda Civic to college on highway 44 heading west at approximately 2:10 pm toward joplin mo. While driving west on 44, the driver side airbag suddenly deployed. My son said he heard a loud bang and his head was pushed back into the headrest. When the airbag deployed he immediately slammed on the brakes and ended off the road on the left side in the median. He was shocked and over whelmed that this occurred because he did not hit anything. A helpful person stopped and helped remove the deployed airbag. Soon afterward, state police arrived after another motorist called and confirmed no damage occurred to the car to warrant deployment of an airbag. My son then continued on to joplin. The following day, my son took the car to the Honda dealership in joplin. After inspection, the dealership claimed that a small hole in the front fender cause the airbag to deploy. . . They found grass and debris from the highway median around the damaged area. They were very uncooperative and more willing to blame the cause on my son rather than a defective airbag system that is known to be a problem in several other models. Indeed, while they are concerned about the cause and looking for other reasons. Meanwhile, we are more concerned and lucky that my son did not get killed in this incident! what about other sons, daughters and loved ones driving these time bombs. . . Are they going to be this lucky? the car suffered no collision and yet the airbag deployed which is the fact the Honda dealership is ignoring. I am more inclined to believe the airbag system is defective considering the history of the airbag systems. What more will it take for this issue to be resolved, more airbag deployments and more deaths? sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 15 mph, there was a loud noise and the driver side air bag exploded with force impacting the driver. The air bag exploded emitting a substance in the interior of the vehicle. The driver was able to merge to the side of the road near the contact's residence. The driver sustained major injuries to the hands, face, a broken wrist, clavicle and a herniated disk. The contact sustained abrasions and cuts. The contact and the driver both received medical attention. A police report was not filed. The insurance adjustor had the vehicle taken to an authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis of the air bag failure. The contact was also waiting for a response from the manufacturer to inspect and diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,950.
Takata recall - passenger side airbag unnecessary deployment. See description in documents window.
In March of 2009, December 2010, and may 2011, my passenger side airbag and seat weight system failed as indicated by the code read by the dealer. The dealer stated it was a major problem in the Civics and was related to the side airbag wiring that has been failing. In may 2011, before my appt. To fix the wiring, an accident occured and my passenger airbag did not deploy with a passenger in the seat and was hit with sufficient force/deceleration, casing some head injuries. Honda says its not a safety issue.
My husband was in an accident where he was hit by another vehicle. The drivers side, and the steering wheel airbags deployed airbags deployed. My husband suffered numerous internal bruising , a fracture in his back and a dics that bulges in his back, he was the driver of the vehicle and all these injuries are mainly on his left side of his body where the drivers side air bag deployed. He was told from doctors that he is lucky to be alive, but his injuries could take in excess of a year to heal. He was hit in the front of the vehicle and the vehicle has been totaled due to the damage. He said that when they air bags deployed it took away his breath because the force that the air bags deployed was extreme.
I own a 2008 Honda Civic (purchased new) with under 25, 000 miles. I immediately had to have to rotors resurfaced when I took delivery of the vehicle. . . As I was driving home, I could feel the brakes pulsating when I applied the brakes. I returned to the dealer and they had to resurface the rotors then. After that, the first problem I had was with the rear wheel bearings and the left rear brakes (pads, caliper, rotor). At approximately 18k both rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced, the left rear caliper was frozen, the pads were worn due to that and the rotor needed to be resurfaced. The repairs were covered under warranty and no explanation could be given as to a reason for the premature wear. At approximately 20k, I had to have the front rotors resurfaced (both right and left) due to premature/uneven wear). Unfortunately, this was done by my own mechanic during routine maintenance and is not documented by Honda (I spoke to Honda and was told it was most likely due to "driver/road conditions and there was no way to tell since it was not repaired by a dealer). Recently, I noticed the parking brake sticking/freezing and brought the car in for service. The brake pads on the right rear, were unevenly/prematurely worn and the caliper was frozen. Both rear rotors had to be resurfaced again! these repairs were also covered under warranty, but again, no explanation could be given as to what keeps causing this premature wear of the brakes. Also, this morning, the "side air bag off" indicator light came on and now needs to go back for service again (2nd time in a week).
On April 18th 2009, the side airbag (drivers side) and side curtain airbag (drivers side) in my 2008 Honda Civic, deployed with no reason while I was stopped (not moving) and waiting for the green light at a traffic light. I had ringing in my ear for more than 16 hours and a bruised arm for more than 8 days. No one from american Honda asked me if I was ok for three weeks. Even though I took my car to the dealer right away (20 minutes after the incident happened), my car, that I bought brand new from the same dealer 10 months ago, has been sitting at dealers service to be fixed. I have been paying for the rental car and the car payment. On may 15th 2009 (after two inspections that were performed over three weeks by american Honda) the dealer gave a form titled release of all claims. The service manager told me if I signed the paper the car would be fixed and ready in two days. Insurance company also confirmed that there was no accident or any damage to the car. Below are my concerns about the above brief description of my experience: why am I supposed to sign a paper to get my car fixed that should have already been fixed and covered by the warranty? what kind of customer service and satisfaction is this? does american Honda have a right to do this to me? if they are capable of giving me a nightmare like this, what kind of rights do I have against them? how can I defend myself and start the procedure without a lawyer wanting to take the case (since it is not a big case in their words)?.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic. While driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions, the front and rear passenger side air bags were exposed from the outer liner. There was no deployment. The air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the air bags were expelling from the head liner. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 5,500 and current mileage was 7,256.
