Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. The contact was not experiencing any failures until the vehicle was taken to the dealer to receive a recall repair concerning the air bags. Shortly after the repair, the air bag warning light illuminated on the front passenger side. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v344000 (air bags) and was uncertain if the dealer had repaired the vehicle or if an additional air bag recall repair was required. The contact stated that the recall repair did not prevent the failure and was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

The airbag malfunction light came on intermittently. The dealer said they could only diagnose it when it was lit. It came on again near another dealer so we detoured there. They said it just needed to be reset. When I picked up the car I drove about 3 miles and the warning light came back on. I returned to the dealer. They said that there was a short in the controller board and the unit needed to be replaced. They replaced the entire airbag unit ($1300) and sent me on my way. About 2 miles from the dealership, the airbag warning light came back on. I returned to the dealer and the car remains there while they attempt to actually correct whatever is triggering the warning light.
The srs (safety restraint system) warning light came on in my 2005 Honda crv with less than 18,000 miles on it. The light will not go out. The car has never been in an accident. The Honda dealer has performed diagnostic tests that indicate that nothing is wrong and the air bags should deploy and seat belts should work in an accident. Who do I believe -- the warning light or the diagnostic tests. I don't like driving a car that has a warning light indicating something is wrong with a safety system.
