My car is stationary, took it in to have air bags replaced, dealership calls and says that my rack and pinion needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,300. How long before this goes out completely or what do I do in this case? I can't afford it.

The rack & pinion assembly has failed three times since owning the vehicle -- 8/17/2013 (53,031mi), 1/19/16 (87,263mi) and 10/12/16 (99,460mi).
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the steering wheel became abnormally difficult to maneuver . The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that there was a leak from the rack and pinion, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000. Kmj.
