The starter on this car completely died at about 56,000 miles. I was in a parking lot and the car wouldn't start at all. Honda was responsive when I reached out to ask if the part was under warranty and they gave me a $300 gift card for my trouble even though the warranty expired. My concern is that when I searched this issue online, a lot of other people with a 2015 crv have issues with the starter. I believe the part is faulty, and could be a safety risk depending on your situation. I was lucky to get stuck on my own on a warm day in a safe area. I had purchased the car certified pre-owned in 2018 and am just shocked that a part which is so vital to the basic functioning of the car would die within a few years. I wanted to make a report so that this is on record and would hopefully lead to a recall.
The car has starter issues, I've replaced battery, key battery and had mechanic look at relays, starter and push button starter, couldn't fix it. Also during rain, the car has leak problem on the roof area where the indoor lights are located. I've also noticed the wiper blades don't touch the windshield. I have tried different brands and still don't have the blades touch the windshield. I drive car to work 3 days a week and been patient about it. I purchased the vehicle used and had only 17000 miles. Bought gap insurance due to it being used car. When raining it's parked when it leaks during heavy rains. It's takes 5 to 10 attempts when trying to start. I believe the car was involved in accident but not reported. I purchased it in 2018, it has some body damage but didn't question it. Had bad tires and got new ones. Lately I've notice electrical issues when attempting to start. Look at all fuses. Still no starter fixed. Is there any way to check these issues, even Honda couldn't solve the starter problems.
Car periodically will not start auxiliary will come on click click sound takes several tries before the vehicle will start I bought the car a year ago from the dealership car is five years old I've had a 2002 or 2004 Honda crv I've never had this difficulty is there a starter or electrical recall.
This has been an ongoing issue. Car won't start at times. The most recent incident I was getting gas at wawa then got back in and car wouldn't turn over and dash board lights stated flickering and a buzzing sound was coming from under the dashboard. Then on a side street it took 3 attempts to start. I took to mechanic who changed the starter 2 different times in 2 days. And now it won't start again. Also my oil is either burning or leaking out. I have had that addressed by a mechanic as well. That too was never figured out on multiple attempts by hall Honda who reported it as not even happening. And now again there is no oil in the car. I have been diligent about maintenance and oil changes. I have broken down in this car on side streets, in public parking places and in unsafe areas. I thought I was gettting a good dependable vehicle with Honda. But I have had nothing but problems.
I am writing you because I had to have the started replaced on my Honda 2015 Cr-v. The VIN number 2hkrm3h75fh512704; va license vew4713; mileage 47,332. It is unreasonable to have a vehicle of that year and such a low mileage with starter problems and having the started replaced. The final bill for the work conducted was $727. 16, including parts, labor and taxes. I suspect that starter problems are inherited from a poor design where the starter is exposed to excessive heat from the manifold. Therefore, all Cr-vs designed in a same manner are relegated to the same flaw. Consequently, all owners of the same type of vehicle are forced to incur the unreasonable cost of having to replace the starter at such low mileage. Done.
The vehicle always seemed to have issues when idling. After 3 years, it turns out that the alternator had a bad diode. I replaced the battery after getting stuck and then followed up with a diagnostic of the starter, alternator and battery. Immediately after replacing the battery, the alternator was only charging the battery 84%. In addition, it seems that there is an issue with the batteries used by Honda and some other possible issues with the electrical system as per online blogs. To be honest, my vehicle is 38 months old and has approx 51k miles, making it out of warranty. It would also be fair to say that after having work done at the dealer through out the years that this issue should have shon up or been addressed sooner. It is also of my opinion that an extended warranty should have been issued on the electrical system.
We had bought a brand new Honda crv from o donnel Honda in ellicott city (near baltimore). We had added an accessory of a remote starter. The dealer installed the remote starter but it is not working (car has to be twice started and restarted). Dealer has told us that this is a known problematic issue with all crvs with keyless entry. We were never told about this problem while buying the car. We consider this as fraudulent practice. I am requesting dot to please help us ask Honda to resolve this issue. Either the remote starter should be reinstalled or another starter should be installed which works correctly. Please note that if this is a known error (as dealer said) then all Honda crvs should be recalled. Restarting the car twice or more damages the car and could lead to safety issues if car starter stops working sooner than expected. We rely all our car for all personal, family and business needs. If a new car breaks down due to such faulty programming, it will cause immense damage.
