While driving at a normal speed (55mph) on I-5 north in bellingham, wa when the sunroof on my Honda Cr-v imploded. It sounded like a very loud gunshot. The shock of the incident startled my passenger and I and I immediately began looking her over to see if there was any blood. I looked up and saw very small shards of glass falling through the sunroof and a large hole. It was fortunate those shards did not cause damage. I immediately closed the sunroof and exited the highway. There were no rocks in the car, very little glass entered the car and a large hole was in the sunroof. The dealer did not believe it was due to a glass defect, he felt that something large had hit the car. This was not possible- we were on a clear highway and there was no sign of anything in the car or on the sunroof that would explaijn the damage. I do not want other people to have this experience- it is frightening and could lead to accidents.

Equipment problem #2

Driving in mild foggy conditions, going 44 mph. My crv dash had the brake warning flashing and locked up my brakes. There was nothing in front of me do cause this. There was a car behind me that could of hit me. Everything in my car flew off the seats and it jarred my neck and back. My lowered back has been hurting and I am seriously concerned for my safety in this vehcle.

Equipment problem #3

10/8/2025 the steering wheel was sticking. Honda mechanic said it was the left drive shaft. They ordered part and said would be a 2 hour repair. 10/16/2025 took vehicle back into shop for repair at 10:30 a,m. Vehicle not ready until 5:15p. M. We drove out and steering wheel still sticking. Went back manager drove it and said might be some part that needs greasing but he would check with the Honda corporation. And get back to us. 10/23/2025 service advisor called us and said it was the power steering rack. Repair bill would be $4400. 00. 10/27/2025 we talked to service advisor to see who manager talked to regarding this repair. Service advisor said manager would call us on 10/28/2025. We did not receive a call and did not receive a call on 10/20/2025. 10/30/2025 we filed a complaint with Honda corporation. Our vehicle is available for inspection. What we have read about this kind of recall is that steering wheel could permanently stick possibly causing an accident. The fact the manager said it was the power steering rack has not been confirmed . Some Hondas have been recalled for the power steering rack. Vehicle has not been inspected by any dealer or mechanic. This sticking issue started about 9/1/2025. . There were no warning lamps or messages.

Equipment problem #4

I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving my [2022 Honda crv], which is currently under warranty. On [xxx], while my wife was driving along the [xxx] from soldotna to anchorage, alaska, the sunroof of my vehicle spontaneously exploded without any external impact or provocation. At the time of the incident: the temperature was approximately 65°f, eliminating thermal stress as a factor. There were no other vehicles nearby and no overhead obstructions. A thule rooftop cargo carrier was mounted above the sunroof, providing a physical barrier that would have prevented any object from striking the glass. The vehicle has fewer than 30,000 miles and is less than three years old, qualifying it for coverage under Honda’s new vehicle limited warranty. The explosion resulted in shattered glass raining into the top, creating a hazardous situation while driving. This incident appears consistent with other reports and complaints involving spontaneous sunroof explosions in Honda vehicles, some of which have led to legal action and consumer s information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #5

Hi, I've owned this vehicle brand new, 21 miles. I purchased from the dealership. It now has a blown head gasket at 85 k miles. I've spoken to 3 dealerships that have said this is a common problem. I obviously do a lot of driving early morning and late night. This could have been a big safety issue in the dark. I've done all my services on time and even earlier than needed. I hope you can do research on this. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #6

When I drive my car will slow down by itself about 10mph without me taking foot off acceleration. It’s very unsafe, as my car will randomly slow down, causing people to possibly rear end me, making me scared to drive it. My taillights were also flashing. Took it to Honda dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. The problem persisted so I told them I needed to bring it back. They told me they never got it to slow down for them, but the lights flashed. They told me it was the body control module and charged me almost $900. A month later it is still slowing down by itself randomly. No warning lights ever come on.

Equipment problem #7

I purchased a brand new Honda crv 2022 ,VIN [xxx] , on [xxx] in herson's Honda rockville dealership, maryland. Shortly after the purchase the navigation system started to malfunction creating putting me in a danger on the road. After 10 minutes of driving the map goes blurred then screen gets saturated, the map gets smeared. It creates unsafe driving experience. I have addressed this issue to the Honda service center several times in 2022 and 2023 separately and during each routine oil change. There was no successful solution so far. I feel very unsafe and discouraged to drive this car with this ongoing issue. Specially with the kids in the car. I had several situations of losing the control of direction while on the highway due to map getting unclear. In March and April 2024 I reached out to american Honda, they created a case, sent me a survey, sent me to the service center but did not provide any solution. There was no written solution by the side of american Honda, only phone calls advising this is a software issue with apple and android and told me to wait for the software update. It has been two years, no solution. This problem substantially impairs the car's value or use. I have only driven it 17,000. 00 miles since I don't feel safe driving long distances in it. Equipment problem #8

I live in a rural area about 10 miles south of albany NY. I am retired and am not employed, so most of my driving is done in the daytime. However, last November I was driving home in the dark from a medical appointment. I encountered heavy wet snow as I left a suburban area (glenmont, NY) where there are street lights on the main highway, route 9w. My headlights were on and I could see fine until I left glenmont, and entered my home area selkirk, NY. I was still on route 9w, but selkirk at this point only has street lights at main intersections. The snow had become wet and heavy and it was difficult to see. I realized my headlights were not on in this extremely slippery, heavy snow which now was coming down more heavily. Rte 9w is a 2-lane nys highway which eventually turns into a 4-lane highway again with limited street lighting. I drove about 5 miles with the only lighting I had from the pickup truck which was in front of me. There is no place to safely turn off on rte 9w once I am in selkirk. When I reached my turnoff from rte 9w I was again on a 2 lane, unlit road to my home for approximately 2 miles. How I got home safely was short of a miracle. My car was only a year old at this point. Honda will do nothing about this. I paid short of $45,000 for this Honda crv touring model. I tell everyone I know not to buy a Honda. The dealer doesn't stand behind their product nor does the company. This is the first and only Honda I have ever owned. I also had a problem with my car battery this year. The car at that point only had 9,000 miles on it. Four times I tried to pull out of my garage an my battery was dead. I had to call my husband to come home from where he was each time because I had important medical problems. I have an incurable gi problem and leukemia and each of my appts were related to one of these medical conditions. Aaa was called 3 times and we were told we would exhaust our 4 road calls if we called them again. My husband went to the dealer with my car b.

Equipment problem #9

The automatic emergency warning light came on 4 times when there was no reason it should have come on bc there was no chance of a collision. Two of those times the automatic braking system was activated. This was dangerous. The dealer said there is no recall and nothing they can do. In addition, many warnings appeared on the dash one after another… tire press monitor problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system prob, vehicle stability assist prob, adaptive cruise control prob, collision mitigation system prob, road depart. Sys prob, electric parking brake problem, low brake fluid, and warned to stop ASAP and put on brake.

Equipment problem #10

My body control module failed and has been confirmed by the dealer. They are replacing it this morning. It’s been failing for close to a year I didn’t realize. It would set off the tire pressure monitor, caused the battery to die and turn on the brights. 3 days ago the alarm kept going off and turning the dashboard on. When I drove it to the dealer, multiple electronic systems were not working correctly. For a - barely- 3 year old car this isn’t a component that should be going bad!.

Equipment problem #11

My vehicle was parked in my closed garage. My car's sunroof shattered when I came back to the car to drive it out for the evening. The incident happened in my closed garage. I took it to the dealership and the dealership said that they have no idea what happened. They didn't look too much into a diagnosis and just stated it could be environmental reasons even though it was in my closed garage. I contacted Honda and let them know about it and they refused to look more into it as well. They said since they don't know the reason, its environmental. I think this is a safety issue since it could be related to faulty glass or improper installation, maybe a defect. I also think it was improper for Honda to not investigate the issue on their side and figure out a proper diagnosis. I think this is very dangerous since I could have taken out the car and opened the sunroof headliner and glass could have been in my face and disrupted my driving.

Equipment problem #12

We received a important safety recall notice from Honda regarding this vehicle. On February 26, 2024, we called the service center at Honda of kirkland, where we purchased the vehicle. Honda of kirkland is located in kirkland, wa. We were informed that the earliest the service center at Honda of kirkland could remedy the recall related to the 12-volt batter cable harness, which increases the risk of a fire and/or injury in a crash, was July 31, 2024. This is 156-days after we first contacted Honda of kirkland for a repair appointment. We wish to file this complaint against Honda of kirkland, so we can get an appointment within the 60-day window stated on the safety recall notice.

Equipment problem #13

I received a recall notice in January 2024 from Honda informing me of a safety recall. My vehicle is under recall because “the 12 battery cable harness does not contain a fuse on the positive power circuit………. ” I have contacted my local Honda dealer 3 separate times since January and each time I am told that there are no parts available, and that my name is on their waiting list to be repaired as available parts come in. I’ve complained that 6 months is excessive to have to wait for a recall repair part. The Honda dealer, in this case, barber Honda in bakersfield, CA, says that there is nothing they can do but simply apologize on behalf of Honda. It is completely ridiculous!.

Equipment problem #14

I didn't even receive this notice from Honda. . I got an email from carfax that I have a recall. Nhtsa: #23v-844 recall: #fgb 2020-22 Cr-v hyb 12v pos. Battery cable safety recall. This recall is from Jan. 9, 2024. This is what scares me. If the vehicle is involved in a crash to the left front fender area under certain circumstances, a short circuit to the power circuit can occur and the battery cable can overheat, increasing the risk of a fire and/or injury. All the Honda dealers say there is a backorder for these parts, and in the meantime, I'm afraid to drive my car because I'm at risk for possible injury. What is the recourse here?.

Equipment problem #15

I received a recall notice in December 2023 and took my car to the dealership (northside Honda in san antonio, TX) the following week on 12/26/23. I was told parts weren’t available yet and to wait “a couple months” before trying again. I scheduled another appointment with the dealership on 2/29/24, but was again told it’ll be “a couple months” before parts are available. I’m now scheduled for mid-April 2024 but feel unsafe driving my vehicle for several months with a known safety issue. I don’t have another vehicle I can use in the meantime.

Equipment problem #16

Overnight on August 14 - 15th, 2023, it rained heavily in my area (at least 1/2"- 1" of rain fell overnight). I went out to my car at 11:30 am on August 15,2023, to find all 4 windows and the moonroof opened. The inside of my crv hybrid touring vehicle was saturated deep with water. I took it to the dealership (motorworld in wilkes-barre, PA) to have the vehicle checked for a computer type malfunction. No codes were retained in the vehicles memory. I was informed that Hondas now have a key fob feature that will open all the windows and moonroof if the buttons are pushed in the proper sequence. I read the entire 689 page owner's manual when I purchased the car new in October, 2022, 2 sentences on page on page 183 briefly mention this "feature" to let hot air out of your vehicle. (press door unlock key one, press and hold door unlock button again and hold it within 10 seconds, and press it again and hold it within 10 seconds and your windows will all come down as well as moon roof open. There is no way to disable this feature. I do not play with my key fob, no children in home. All the seats, roof, and floor are supersaturated with rain water. This water situation can cause mold, just as if the car was in a flood, which can be extremely dangerous/ lethal to a person like me with respiratory issues. Also, electrical components may have been damaged because of a huge amount of water. Honda was notified and they said, call your insurance company and file a claim. The problem it caused me needs to be rectified by Honda and made right by them to me. Of note, the car nor the fob notifies the person that all the windows and moonroof were completely opened. So much damage occurred. Rain water also entered the heater/ ac ducts. Stagnation can lead to mold growth in them.

Equipment problem #17

On 8-1-23 my 2022 Honda crv hybrid locked me out of my car of its own volition with the keys and fob sitting inside the crv on the passenger front seat. It left me stranded until I could find someone to drive me to my house. I called avalon Honda at 11:00am and spoke to the service department. They promptly told me they couldn't fit me in for at least a week and the key fob battery was probably the problem also that they would not give me a loaner car to use when they tried to fix the problem. On 8-2-23, my 2022 crv hybrid locked me out of my car of its own volition with me having the keys and fob in my hand. My cell phone was still in the car and the car was running. The fob would not open the door. The manual key would not open the door either. I was stranded along a wooded area long road where I had no way to get help. I finally found help and used someone else's cell phone to call avalon Honda where the service manager, joe dimonte, told me that if I could get the car to them, then they would take a look at it. I was within 5 miles of their dealership where I bought the car, and they refused to help me stranded outside my vehicle, without even my cell phone or wallet to get any other help. After an hour of my car running and trying to find a way in the car, a friend came and drove me to my house to get the second fob and stopped at avalon Honda and had a new manual key cut. Neither key fob or emergency key worked and their newly cut key opened the door. Praise the lord. Drove to the avalon dealership to which again I was told they didn't have time to look at it now but would call me to let me know when they could order a new cylinder for my lock. Service manager was amazed that the emergency keys were the wrong ones but the key did work the glove compartment. In January, in arizona, the crv had some instances of problems with electronics, replaced key fob battery, and the problem seemed to be temporarily fixed. Manager damaged key hole.

Equipment problem #18

My car has rust on mos of the entire interrior of the car. Underneath the dash, the seat rails and metal pieces that attach the gas pedal and brakes.

Equipment problem #19

The sunroof exploded as I was driving. There were no cars around me. Glass blew outward and I was concerned about any cars that would follow. I took photos and then took the car into my Honda dealer. They claim a rock hit it. I know that could not have happened. The car is only 6 months old. There was no warning before it happened. If I had the sunroof open, glass could have affected me and/or my passenger. My insurance agent has also seen the photos. The sunroof is being replaced today, a month after it exploded. I had to cover the opening with plastic sheeting and painters tape to keep the area dry.

Equipment problem #20

My SUV's moonroof glass "exploded with a big loud bang" while driving at about 65 miles per hour in a central lane on March 16, 2023 at about 8:00-8:30 pm. My home was about less than 1 -1/2 to 2 miles away. I parked my car at the garage and noticed the my moonroof glass had completely shattered. My SUV had less than 4000 miles on it and still is under manufacture's warranty.

Equipment problem #21

Sun roof spontaneously exploded while driving on highway.

Equipment problem #22

Doors locks malfunctioned intermittently as it doesn't lock and a beep goes on. One has to re-opened the door for the door to lock permanently until you need to get back into the car. The problem occurred from December 1 2022 to April 15 2023. It could be any doors. It is a safety issue for myself and others. I brought the Honda touring several times to the Honda dealer and they claim it could not be reproduced. However I have multiple tapes to confirm the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I bought the car at auto fair new hampshire and the problem started after December 2022 till April 15 , 2023. Then it completely stopped . I brought up the same concern to Honda auburn and customer service Honda with video tapes and it got nowhere. The same problem started again on November 1, 2023. . . . . .

Equipment problem #23

Unknown- I did receive a letter appears to be from Honda automobile division stating a eps gearbox replacement. Nhtsa website didn't have any recalls for my 2022 Honda Cr-v. Honda dealership didn't appear knowledgeable with the recall and said they haven't had anyone else come in for the repair. Is it a legitimate recall?.

Equipment problem #24

Brakes are applied at a slow and fast speed for no reason. Also the touch screen turns off or loses view while driving and car is sluggish when you excelerate the gas peddle.

Equipment problem #25

In April 2022, my dad purchased a brand new Honda crv 2022 hybrid touring edition. This car was deemed as one of the safest cars on the market and was his main intent while buying it. A couple of weeks ago this car was the prime suspect of a fire that impacted both the car and our house. Let me break down exactly how this occurred and where the blame should fall on this situation. When I was slowly backing out of my garage, I noticed that my car was not straight and that I needed to turn my wheel in order to straighten it out. When doing so, 3/4 of my car made it out of the garage, even the side mirrors. However, the area on the top left on my wheel scratched the side of my garage. When this occurred, I did not think much of it since scratching cars is not that uncommon, especially when reversing. The worst that is expected to happen is chipping of the paint and a minor dent. But when I got out of the car to access the situation I noticed that smoke started releasing out of the area of the impact. By the time I called my dad, a little fire was also present at the area of the impact. He advised me to go inside the house and use water or other resources in order to try putting out the fire myself. So I went inside and by the time I got back, the fire had greatly increased in size. This all happened in a matter of 2 minutes! I quickly called 911 and 2 police cars came as soon as possible. The officers tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher but there was no luck. The flames have already started making its way up the side of the garage and engulfing some of the sidings. After a while, the fire department put out the fire. How can a scratch of 2-inch depth, 4-inch width, and 6-inch height cause immense damage to a car and a house! Honda needs to consider this when reviewing the architectural design of its battery position. This is a serious safety flaw that could jeopardize many lives. I was grateful that the fire did not impact me but I fear for others.

Equipment problem #26

This car, along with 3 others in my neighborhood were stolen on the same night. Why was it so easy for the thieves to steal these cars? there is a security issue that must be addressed ASAP.

Equipment problem #27

I just bought (last month) a new, 2022 Honda Cr-v-ex-l. I have always been a Honda girl, and decided it was time for a new car and bought another Honda…. . My 3rd Cr-v (I also had a pilot). Anyways, I just bought this car last month. It is a beautiful car, but I feel it’s dangerous for two reasons. The biggest concern is that the hood was redesigned from previous models that I had, and now the sides of the hood protrudes higher than the rest of the hood, making it quite difficult to see over the hood, particularly going around turns and up hills. Which is a huge safety issue. And you may be thinking, why don’t I just lift the seat……well the seat is as high as it goes (a definite flaw), so that is of no help. Secondly, the audio system is definitely a hazard. The touch screen does not always work, and you may have to push on the screen several times before getting it to work, thus distracting the driver. Additionally, when talking to people on bluetooth and one party hangs up, the phone does not go back to the radio automatically, and you have to keep touching the touchscreen to get you back to what you were on prior to the call. Definitely another safety issue. That being said, I am mostly worried about the hood issue. I do not feel safe continuing to drive my brand new Honda, which is really sad, since I buy Honda’s because of their safety ratings. If this is an issue for me, I am sure this an issue for others, and likely has already contributed to accidents. Thank-you, bernadette kuchinsky.

Equipment problem #28

I was going south bound up a hill. Less then 20 mph and was blinded by the sun. The old folks in front of me were also blinded by the sun and stopped in the middle of the hill. My automatic emergency braking system did not kick in and I ran right into them. We could have been hurt. My car is being fixed in a collision repair shop now.
