2 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/15/2025

After vehicle was shut down for about 5 to 10 minutes while in a store, all lights on the dashboard came on with warnings that most all safety related systems had "problems" (tire monitoring system, emissions system, brake system, brake hold, power steering , variable steering assist problem, hill start assist, adaptative cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure) vehicle would otherwise run fine and could be driven home. Emergency brake still seems to operate. This has happened twice in the last six months and renders the vehicle less safe to operate without these systems fully functional.

3 Assist problem of the 2025 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

I changed lanes without using my blinker and the car fought against me on the freeway it caused me fear and concern, I questioned dealer I was told it was okay by dealer he said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

4 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

To whom it may concern, I am reporting a serious safety concern with my 2017 Honda Cr-v related to the fuel/propulsion system. While driving, the vehicle will suddenly stop accelerating. At the same time, multiple warning messages appear on the dash, including alerts that the driver assist system, cruise control, and brake system are not functioning, along with other system warnings. This issue happens without warning and has occurred multiple times. It creates a dangerous situation, especially at highway speeds or in traffic, since the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate and several critical safety systems appear disabled. I am very concerned that this may be a defect in the fuel/propulsion system or an associated electrical/control system that could pose a risk to myself, my passengers, and other drivers. Please advise on the next steps for inspection and resolution.

5 Assist problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

My vehicle has had a worsening issue with the steering wheel sticking, especially when driving on winding roads. It is most pronounced when the steering wheel is turned to the left. Instead of smoothly returning to center, the steering wheel sticks in the left position and has to be forced right to center or to turn back right. Obviously having steering that is stuck or that has to be forced can be dangerous, especially at highway speeds. It also sometimes makes a knocking sound when turned all the way to the left. I have not had the vehicle inspected yet, but I have contacted Honda and my local dealership about the issue and am able to bring the vehicle in for inspection. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or anything similar.

6 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/30/2025

Vehicle is currently in the shop due to safety sensors and cameras. The car has less than 70k miles and is excellent condition. But when I started my car all the sensors did not work.

7 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

The lane keeping assist system problem contact your dealer keeps appearing on my dashboard when I start the car and pull away.

8 Assist problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/05/2025

February 5, the car infront of me swerved to avoid a 2x4 in the road and I tried to do the same but my lane assist beeped and took control and forced me to run it over now I am going through another insurance claim because my electrical system is broken now due to the new damage. Since my last accident, even my passengers can feel when the car resists my steering and when I try to correct it by turning the steering wheel slightly more, it just lets go and causes me to have to correct the over maneuver. I drive 60+ miles a day and I feel my car resist my steering too often, I do not feel comfortable. I purposely since my last accident don't even have my lane features turned on and it still over corrects.

9 Assist problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/03/2025

Steering sticks and will not return to center without correction. I am told there is a recall for 2022 models for this same issue.

10 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Yesterday, my car was working fine. This afternoon October 1, 2024, when I turned on the engine I saw a prompt “cmbs problem” on the screen. Warning signs/lamps lit up as well, 1. Adaptive control cruise problem, road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, and auto high beam problem. I have not contacted the dealership about this current issue because I plan to go to the dealership to do my oil change this coming Saturday 10/05/2024. Just an fyi, they still haven’t addressed my recall ( the 2017-22 fuel pump mtr saf recall exp2). At this time, no injury happened, but I am definitely scared of my safety using my car.

11 Assist problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/16/2024

Last September my lane assistance caused me to hydroplane and spin out of control. My airbag was deployed and I was injured. I was on the outside left lane, the roads were a little wet from a past rain event, I felt the car run over a slick spot and its wasn't until my lane assist beeped and turned my wheel and I instantly began spinning, I hit a concrete wall. Prior to this I experienced my lane assist feeling sticky or like it drives to autosteer itself too much. I expressed this to my insurance and they said I couldnt prove it and did nothing about it. 2 weeks ago, my car braked to a complete stop because someone was on the sidewalk to the left and I was almost rear ended. Last week, the car infront of me swerved to avoid a 2x4 in the road and I tried to do the same but my lane assist beeped and took control and forced me to run it over now I am going through another insurance claim because my electrical system is broken now due to the new damage.

12 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

On [xxx], I parked on a slight incline at an open market. There was nothing wrong with the steering when I parked the car. It was dry and sunny. When I returned to the car an hour later, the power steering was out and all sensor lights were flashing: hill assist, lane assist, cruise control, brakes, tire pressure, emergency brake, and others I can't recall at this point. Someone was getting into their car next to mine and helped maneuver the car out of the spot so it could be towed. I am told by the dealer, the power steering rack needs to be replaced -- $4000. My car has 56k miles on it, has never been in an accident and has always and only been serviced by autonation Honda in clearwater. There appears to be a recall on this part but when I enter my VIN, it indicates the recall doesn't apply to my car even though it's a recall on 2018 crvs. The dealer indicates the part is backordered indefinitely and cannot provide timeline. I am waiting for Honda good will program to evaluate whether they will help with rental car and expense of repair. Meantime, I have no car and cannot conduct business or even evacuate if a hurricane comes through. It's been 2 weeks now with no help from the dealer. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

Multiple warning/error messages are being displayed on the dashboard.

14 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

All warning signs come on at the same time on the dashboard. Car repair service explained that this is a known problem with crv and suggested that I take it to he dealer. I have disconnected and reconnected the battery and this worked in discontinuing the warning signs but this was a temporary fix since same problem reappeared within weeks. This has reoccurred several times since 2024. Appointment has been made with dealer since the danger is whether warning sign is legitimate or just an electrical problem. This happens when car is first started and prior to initial drive. Does not prevent use of the car.

15 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Multi purpose camera failure that impacts the safety features in my vehicle. Many people have reported this, however Honda still hasn’t created a recall on it. Dealership wants $1900 to replace, but this is a safety feature how is this not on Honda to handle?.

16 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/19/2024

Regularly receive loud alarms and errors when putting the vehicle in reverse that the lane departure warning system has failed and to see dealership. Error will last for around 10-20 seconds and then disappear. One dealership tried to apply a TSB directly associated with this issue which failed to fix anything. Dealerships have no idea what is causing the issue and are unable to fix the issue.

17 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

The steering grabs or feels stuck at all speeds.

18 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

On my 2023 Honda crv sport the steering wheel sticks, you have to constantly be correcting it. It is annoying and one could easily over compensate causing an accident.

19 Assist problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

While driving at highway speeds my steering wheel gets stuck to one side requiring manual assistance to move it back to center after turning.

20 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/22/2024

Steering sticks at highway speeds, particularly around curves. While driving on the highway I noticed around curves that instead of the steering wheel straightening out on it's own (or with very minimal effort) the steering would stick and I had to force it out of that stick. It was very alarming at first and frankly terrifying with how badly it was stuck. I did have the lane keep assist on so I thought maybe it was that, however I have since been driving this vehicle without the lane keep assist and although it doesn't stick as badly, it does indeed still stick. This issue occurs nearly each time I am going around a curve, sometimes when I am making slight turning maneuvers like lane switches, and rarely while going straight. The exception to that last one is when I have the lane keep assist on, then sometimes it will stick even when going straight. Now, before you start thinkin that this is somehow user error and I am unaware of how these systems are supposed to work. I was a service advisor for Honda for several years, I have driven many Hondas and many other vehicles with these types of systems; this is not supposed to happen and this is not normal. I have driven this car for just over a year and put over 20k miles on it and there is a distinct difference between normal operation and when the issue occurs. Additionally, there is a metal-on-metal clunk and what I think sounds like a very slight grind when turning the steering wheel fully to the left and right that comes from the steering box and you can feel that the steering wants to push you back in to the opposite direction. I believe that there is a connection between the steering and the lane keep assist for this issue and that it's related to service bulletin 18-103. However, I have not yet had this vehicle diagnosed at the dealership since I no longer work at Honda and I do not want to pay their diagnostic fee.

21 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/20/2024

Electronic power steering rack in bad/defective. Will not return to center naturally. Diagnosed by Honda dealership. I can no longer drive in a straight line. I'm constantly bouncing from line to line on the road. My tires are even wearing incorrectly because of this. They are so loud now. Currently it's not a safety risk but the more I drive it the worse it gets. It will eventually become a safety risk! yes, the problem has been reproduced by the dealer. I have been told part has been on order and is critical backordered with no eta. The also preformed an alignment check and a multi point inspection. No warning lights or messages. I found this problem just by driving my vehicle.

22 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

Steering sticks when going over any sort of lane departure. This is dangerous when exiting a tight offramp or coming on a tight onramp. Once the sterring wheel sticks it takes a second or two to unstick causing some near crashes for sure. Not able to get the car to replacte with a local Honda dealer went back and took the foreman for a ride and still was not able to replicate it either.

23 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/08/2024

All electrical warnings spontaneously engaged on the panel; disabling cruise control and adaptive tools (emergency braking, lane warming, 3rd party vehicle encroachment, etc). The car drives fine. Has happened 6 times in the last 2 years. Either spontaneously resets when I turn the car off and then on, or I have to disengage the battery to reset everything.

24 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/11/2024

Warning lights (lkas, collision mitigation, road departure assist and break system) suddenly went on as I was backing out of the driveway. No obstruction found on the vehicle upon checking. Cr-v was with 2328 miles on it. Informed the dealer of the issue and got it serviced immediately. I was informed that the multipurpose camera needs replacement. Service manager from the Honda dealer said that the vehicle is still drivable even with warning lights on and that the camera is on back order but the eta is unknown.

25 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/09/2024

The problem is intermittent. The lane keeping assistance seems to cause the steering to become "sticky" while freeway driving. It becomes difficult to turn the steering wheel small amounts, like its stuck, and applying extra force to steer causes over correction. I can't really pinpoint at what times it happens, but I notice it most when driving on freeways at freeway speed.

26 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/06/2024

While driving noticed the steering began sticking and was not fluid. Force was needed to control and turn the car. In addition, started getting alerts for lane keep assist malfunctioning while it was turned off and not in use. Called the dealership and they indicated it would over a week before they had an appointment available. I have 2 cars so stopped driving the Honda. Last week I decided to drive and the steering had become worse with almost a full loss of control at times. Also noted the steering column had started shaking when driving the car in reverse. The car was dropped off Sunday 10mar24 at my local Honda dealership and they have informed me the steering rack needs to be replaced and that I could come pick the car up until the part comes in. I informed the dealership I would not be picking the car up until the repair was made, as it is unsafe to drive.

27 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

After changing steering rack on this car, sometime lane keeping assitance automatically on in between highway and car try to change lane without pressing any button lane keeping assistance automaticaly on. Also loss of power on highway.

28 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

At about 14,000 miles, started experiencing issues with steering wheel. It is harder to keep a straight line. On gradual turns, steering “sticks” and doesn’t return to natural position, therefore, overcorrection is needed causing vehicle to jerk. If steering goes back to “normal”, due to initial overcorrection, staying in lane is hard potentially causing a wreck or turning vehicle upside down.

29 Assist problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/25/2023

While driving my steering wheel keeps locking up to where I can not turn my wheel. I have had 3 close calls where I could have been in a serious accident. . I have taken it to the Honda dealership 4 times (1st time was 25 days after buying it. Waa told it was fixed. It happened 6 months later. Told it was fixed again, happened 6 months after that. Was told it was something different I took it to another mechanic in town for a second opinion and they told me the steering gearbox needed to be replaced entirely) they also told me the dealership who said it was fixed did not fix it they zip tied and shrink wrapped it to hold the wires together….

30 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

My crv has difficulty in steering. I can go straight down the road and try to change lanes. It can take a strong tug to get it to change lanes. Once it loosens back up it is ok to steer. I took it to the Honda dealer and they said it was normal. I think they are avoiding a dangerous problem. If I turn on the lane keep assist it is even harder to steer. I have reported this before. Nothing gets logged I will try a different dealer after the holidays. Why should I have to lemon law a car for a common problem.

31 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/12/2023

The steering on our crv seems to do this jerky "sticky" thing on turns where it's almost fighting or stuck in a position for a split second. It's happened a few times on turns of about 20+mph. I've been noticing this happening more as of late, the car has about 8500 miles or so. It happens about every 1 of 5 trips I take on it, and I've felt it at highway speeds and on streets. I also hadn't told my wife about this because I thought it was just me noticing this, but today she called and mentioned that the steering felt sticky, and just ackward and was worried about it getting worse. So this confirms that it's not just me feeling this slight tick or stickyness in the steering. It's starting to worry me and now my wife because we bought this car as a family car because we have an 8 month old child that puts this problem front and center for us.

32 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/07/2023

The steering is very hard and sticking making it difficult to drive if you have the lane departure on the steering wheel gets locked and in position and is difficult to correct and stay in your lane . Contacted the dealer they are not sure what causing the problem but the vehicle is dangerous to steer and extra force is needed to correct any and all steering movements. Very difficult to stay in your lane especially when at speeds over 55 mph.

33 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

My Cr-v lane keep assist will pull my vehicle one way or the other jarringly violently, and will overcorrect itself the rest of the time. The result being that I have nearly totally stopped using the feature. Recently, though, I have noticed a sticking point just off of dead center when steering in either direction- at any speed. The worst part of this issue is that it causes turning to be unsmooth because the wheel doesn't turn smoothly. At any speed, I can notice the weighting of the steering wheel when I hit the (replicatible) sticking point- and then it is as if the vehicle "skips a few steering teeth" because it cause the wheel to turn a little more quickly as if to catch up to where I had intended to point the tires. This issue has persisted to the point that I googled to see if other owners were having this issue, and that's when I discovered that NHTSA had added the 2023 Cr-v to an existing complaint involving Honda civics with the same steering components. I wish to lodge my complaint in the hopes of making Honda and the NHTSA aware that this issue is also affecting 2024 Cr-vs. I am extra frustrated because I feel like my front suspension/steering components are clunking where that was not an issue over the early life of the vehicle. For reference, I have put 13000 miles on the vehicle since purchasing 07/27/2023.

34 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/28/2023

11/28 my wife was driving her 2024 Honda Cr-v on a straight road on a trip of more than an hour in cool weather when she experienced "sticky driving" and had difficulty keeping the vehicle in its lane.

35 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/24/2023

While diving on my first long trip in this vehicle, the steering seems to be hard or sticky when trying to keep the car in the middle of the road. I’m a smaller female and after long trips, it begins to be uncomfortable and I feel like I’m fighting to keep the vehicle in the middle of the road. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they evaluated the problem. They indicated that it was within specifications even without actually driving the vehicle as I had requested. The technician did say that the lane keeping system is causing the issue. It’s always on, so you are fighting it. The tech said Honda should have made it with an off position and that would have solved the issue. My concern is, during the end of a long road trip and being worn down, I may over or under compensate the and crash.
