36 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/21/2023

The steering after a few miles, feels sticky. The steering wheel will softly jerk on the highway. Almost feels like adjusting for lane departure, but I am not departing the lane. This also causes lane keeping to feel jerky. Also, the android auto when plugged in and apps being used will turn off the radio or the sound system. Thank you.

37 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/18/2023

On or about October 18, 2023, while backing out of driveway, I heard a warning beep and a meesage popped up on the instument panel- lane keeping assist system malfunction, see your dealer. About that same time, my steering began to get a "sticky" feeling to it, as if the steering was hesitant to respond to slight movement of the steering wheel. This occurs after the vehicle has been on the road for 10 to 15 minutes. It will also stick whenever the vehicle is stopped for more than a few seconds (I. E, at a traffic light or stop sign). While driving on a highway in a straight line, the steering is also hesitant, as if momentarily "stuck". This will cause a "jerk" in the steering wheel. The problem has been persistent for a month now,and prio to this, the steering was very smooth and consistent for the first 9 months of operation. I bought this vehicle brand new from the dealer. I took it to the dealer I purchased it from, and they claimed they could not duplicate the problem. As soon as I departed the dealership, the problem was still there.

38 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/15/2023

Steering becomes sticky while driving at any speed. The steering wheel freezes or locks making it harder to control. Added pressure to turn the wheel can cause the steering to unstick and jerk the vehicle suddenly. Th sticking does not occur immediately after the car has been parked for a long period of time (overnight) and only happens once the vehicle has warmed and has been driven for around 10-15 minutes after starting. In addition to the sticking, there is a noticeable clicking sound coming from the wheels when turning at low speeds. Currently awaiting feedback from dealership.

39 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

Steering is sticky not smooth when making left or right turns on highway and side roads.

40 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

I am writing to express concern about the steering of my 2024 Honda Cr-v (sport touring trim). The vehicle was purchased new in September, with about 3,800 miles accumulated so far. When driving at 40 mph or higher in a straight line, there is persistent resistance in the steering wheel. It sticks when making slight straight line corrections. I included lane driving assistance in the "problem parts" section here not knowing if there is a connection. Not only is there resistance, but frequently the steering will suddenly jerk to either side. This is very slight and has not caused a major straight line deviation, but I know this should not occur and for all I know can get worse. I have repeated these circumstances while using and not using any lane assistance. No warning lamps or messages have appeared. I am taking the vehicle to my dealer during the week of 12/11, so no inspections as of yet. I have read NHTSA is investigating nearly identical complaints with 2022-23 models and wanted to add my concerns about the '24 model year.

41 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/22/2023

Three times the car braked automatically although there was no reason; traffic was consistent and there was no stop sign or stopped/slowing traffic. Several times (more than two/ less than six) the car auto corrected with lane assistance due to either shadows from telephone wires onto the road, or, pavement variations due to construction (on the interstate).

42 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/27/2023

The radar sensor was stolen in July 2023. A Honda dealer confirmed this. Two representatives of the dealer indicated the sensor can be stolen in minutes without tools from the 2017 crv and Honda placed the sensor elsewhere in later model crvs to reduce its vulnerability to theft. Warning lights indicate 5 Honda-installed safety features no longer work without the sensor: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, a collision mitigation system, a road departure mitigation system, and automatic high beams. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When the sensor is stolen, it is sometimes yanked out quickly (my case), damaging other radar parts. The dealer mentioned above told me replacement of the sensor and repair of the radar would cost about $2700. There are unfortunately strong disincentives to repair the radar, with the result that 5 safety features no longer work: the high repair cost, coupled with the distinct likelihood of another theft given shortages of the sensor and its value, discourage repair. Further, the fact that theft claims with insurers often result in rate increases and many folks have high deductibles discourage repair. American Honda motor company, inc. Has refused to provide financial assistance despite its poor engineering having essentially caused the 2017 model theft problem, and despite Honda’s correction of this defect in later year crvs. Honda also has failed to create a “kit” for 2017 crv owners to secure the radar sensor against theft. :.

44 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/18/2023

Steering wheel issue: I had a similar issue with my old 22 civic. Now it's a known and common problem, it's hard to make small adjustments. It may not be related to the speed or the use of lkas. There is no warning on the dashboard. Brake pedal: randomly I feel friction on the pedal when I press it. Like the steering wheel issue it starts to happen and disappears. No warning messages. Lkas giving false warnings, especially when going backwards.

45 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/10/2023

The vehicle starts to shift me off of the road as steering wheel gets “stuck”while driving on the interstate. Lane assist and any/all safety features were not enabled. Took my car to the Honda dealership on November 21. I was informed it is “sticky steering” and the part is on backorder indefinitely.

46 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/03/2023

New resistance in steering at highway speed trying to keep steering centered and straight. No indicators or warning lights noting issue. Noted Honda TSB 18-103, 54 vehicles only were recalled. Symptoms similar to TSB, brought to dealer, master tech diagnosed replacement of rack and gearbox, paid by extended service warranty because this vehicle not recalled by Honda. Once repaired, within the week on highway the lkas kept indicating "steering required" on a very well marked highway where I never had that issue before, and the lkas system was very noticeably not preventing steering into another lane when turn signal not used. Currently have another appointment to fix that (probably lkas reset). This entire issue could have potentially resulted in crash or injury if not diagnosed and repaired immediately.

47 Assist problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/03/2023

My 2015 crv suddenly had all the crash warning/adaptive cruise control/lane keep assist lights flashing…very alarming…so we brought it to white rock Honda for to find out what was happening?? they diagnosed our multi-purpose camera is faulty. $2193 to repair…plus $197. 12 yesterday to diagnose!? we have done nothing to cause this substantial/expensive repair. We are shocked as we are long-time Honda owners, (3 Hondas in the past 20 years) and have never experienced anything like this. ? now we are in danger all of our safety features no longer functioning. ? this this is a huge hardship for us at this time as I just began a gradual return to work this week after an illness. I need to safely rely on this car every day for my long commute from surrey to richmond. ? so as mentioned, this is a hardship that we had no part in causing – and we feel is entirely unfair. We have contacted Honda customer relations. We have forwarded the diagnostic receipt, the situation is now in mediation. -yes, available for NHTSA inspection.

48 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

I purchased this car in February 2023. The issue presented itself within 2-3 months of owning the vehicle. When backing up in the morning, the lane assist malfunction indicator comes on. If the car sits for long periods and then backs up- the indicator will come on. I have taken the car to the dealership multiple times and they do not have a fix. I called american Honda and they say the dealership is responsible for fixing and there is nothing they can do. I have recently noticed that the cross traffic sensor does not always catch and alert as well. The mechanic did say this is a common issue with crv based on their message board chat (which he showed me in August 2023) and waiting on Honda to find a fix.

49 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/10/2023

The steering of my car felt as though there was a resistance when driving it. It felt as though there was a force pushing my wheel. It resembled what it felt like if I had lane keep assist on and was trying to maintain the lane, but I did not have that feature on. It did not happen all the time, either. I could drive it one day and not experience anything but the next day, I would. I had it diagnosed by the dealership and they stated the rack and pinion is intermittently seizing and deemed my vehicle unsafe to drive. There is an active recall on my exact year, make, model car but they stated that my VIN does not match the active recall list. I was not injured but had it gone out, it could have potentially caused injury. No lights appeared on my dash and I honestly wasn't sure if something was really wrong with my car until I noticed the recall and decided to take it and have it looked at. I knew something didn't feel right but I had no idea my entire rack and pinion was bad and my car was unsafe to drive. I probably would not have taken it in had I not noticed the active recall.

50 Assist problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/13/2023

On highway this Honda Cr-v was hit by another vehicle 2013 doge at right rear side. Other car was sliding on the road , crossing the lanes and hitting the Cr-v. Side airbags were deployed immediately during primary collision. Cr-v didn’t stop after that. It turned left from right most lane and hit the median heavily. Lane keeping assistance, frontal collision system, automatic emergency braking did not work properly. It hit the median and all front airbags were deployed. Honda should improve the safety features when it was hit by other car in rear, Honda Cr-v should not twist and turn left & make secondary collision.

51 Assist problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/10/2023

The car intermittently slams on the brakes, often at high speeds, and the brakes sticks, leaving me potentially unable to avoid a rear-end collision. This has happened twice with no obstacle in front of the vehicle in the last month and once within the last month where an obstacle was ahead but at a far enough distance the aes should not have been triggered, let alone stick. The front sensors (behind the rear view mirror and behind the Honda logo on the grill) have been inspected for damage by the dealership and user. They are in perceivably good working condition. This problem appears to be connected to a similar malfunction with lkas, in which the system is turned off (according to the vehicle displays and verified by following owner manual instructions) and the car is driven on a surface with no lanes (I. E. A dirt road) and lkas indicates there is a lane departure. There is no option to turn either system completely off, which leaves the driver with no recourse in the event these systems malfunction.

52 Assist problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/02/2023

Eps rack is still not fixed. My dealer keeps telling me no parts when clearly they have them because I know of other people who have gotten theirs fixed. I was told next oil change we will fix it. Never happened. This car is not safe to drive. It veers all over the road and is a chore to drive. Dealership does not care. Honda does not care. Unbelievable.

53 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

Emergency braking system is activated while the car is on road in 30+ miles speed and the car lost it control. Managed to stop it after driving a car for almost a mile long and then applying the break with hard attempt. This happened twice one around 10:30 pm on Jul 29th, 2022 and the subsequent day when I try to pull my car out of drive way. I decided to call my insurance for towing the car and sent it to my regular service provider battison Honda, (address) 8700 northwest expy, oklahoma city, ok 73162.

55 Assist problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/16/2022

1. The vehicle will inadvertently and without warning, apply the brakes (phantom braking). 2. The lane keeping assist will not follow the road, especially when the road curves. The vehicle will sometimes not negotiate the required turn to stay in the lane.

56 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/09/2022

While driving the emergency brake system activates and brings my car to a complete stop. It happens intermittently. The most recent was during a trip the week of June 6,2022-it occurred approximately three times on our way home. Fortunately I saw the brake light flash and tapped the brake to avoid it from coming to a complete halt. We were traveling about 60mph! I even pulled off the road and turned the car off and back on again to see if that would help! additionally I had to turn the lane keep assist off because it malfunctioned a few weeks ago-it kept trying to pull my car outside of the lane I was in-it acted as though I was drifting out of my lane. I almost lost control of the car.

57 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/04/2022

All the warning lights were flashing on dash, brakes, powers steering , cruise control anti lock brakes ,lane departure ect. This happen on the way to work shut off car two days remained on. On the way home lights went out. Was told to bring car in for diagnostics. Made app and away it went, apon arriving to dealer , I explanied thatthe lights went out. They told me that I would have to pay 150 dollars for diagnostics. Told them I was under warranty with full coverage, didnt matter. They asked if car was running ok and I reply yes. But alittle concerning to have all lights flashing at same time. Needless to say once again lights came on a month later same thing with dealer make appointment. I think that this should be looked into because it’s not the first time this is a problem for Honda it was happening to there 2017. Please check into complaints about the warning lights.

58 Assist problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

The car started sounding an alarm and flashing an idiotic warning message that says "adaptive cruise control problem". Yes it said "problem. " it also flashed a message that said "brake system. " I called the dealer and they instructed me how to turn off adaptive cruise control, and it did not stop the alarm and the flashing messages. They told me it was ok to drive and to bring it in to the dealer. I did that. Had to get ride so I could leave the car. The alarm stopped on the way to the dealer. The next day they told me they could not find what was wrong with the car, but it was ok to drive, and it if happened again, take a video. If they didn't know what was wrong with the car, how did they know it was safe to drive? I picked up the car and a couple days later it did the same thing. Even turning the car off and cranking it back up would not make it stop. I did stop and take videos of the flashing messages, which are attached here, and also sent them to the dealer. I took the car in and they said they got the videos, and they would now be able to fix it. The next day they said come pick it up, but said they thought it needed the front radar/camera replaced but they did not have one. They said it would be July before they could get the part. But they continued to say it is safe to drive. Since then, it had done this several more times, and I took videos again. Those are attached as well. They called today and said it would be August before they could get the parts. I strongly suspect that they do not actually know what it wrong, and that they have not done any actual microelectronic or software troubleshooting, and they are just guessing that this part will fix it. I am now forced to drive a car that is questionably safe. I mean, when an alarm sounds and a warning light flashes that says "brake system" how can it be safe to drive?.

59 Assist problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/04/2022

I was driving on a divided 4 lane road that offers a wide right side shoulder at around 43 mph. I was traveling in the right lane. The lane markings are fresh and visible. It was late afternoon and sun was shining. The road surface was dry. There were no vehicles immediately in front of or along the side of mine. I had not activated the lane keeping assist or automatic cruise control features. Only the hazard mitigation/automatic braking and road departure mitigation features were operational. The car suddenly attempted to swerve left, away from the center of the lane being utilized. The automatic braking system also activated. I was able to simply "drive through" the malfunction without incident. This was the first instance I have noted of this kind. Due to the fact that it was late afternoon, there were shadows from overhead power line being cast onto the lane being driven. I have owned previous cars that sometimes attempted to track said shadow when the lane keeping assist is activated. That was not the scenario yesterday as lkas was not selected. It was as though the sensors detected a pending pedestrian strike or other collision.

60 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/26/2022

Car will drift towards the left, when correcting this the car resists a bit then release, like it was stuck and it jerks to the right. This will happen over and over.

61 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/18/2022

When driving on the interstate with assisted cruise control and lane assist, my car has twice braked very hard when no hazards were in sight. Once, it almost came to a complete stop and had the car behind me been closer their would have been an accident - this was summer of 2021. The second time, it braked, I turned off cruise and tapped the brake and it corrected itself. In both cases, this could have been a very dangerous situation that put myself and others at risk. I thought it was happening because my windshield had been replaced and recalibrated. I had that checked twice and they found no issue with the calibration. I realized it could be a greater issue when I saw the news report on investigation of this happening on other 2019 Honda crv's. I have not taken it to the shop yet. There were no prior warnings.

62 Assist problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/04/2022

Driving down I-40 with lane keeping and cruise control on the car tries to stop when it comes up to a car on the right. Driving down a two lane road with lane keeping and cruise and it will try to stop for vehicles coming towards me but they are in their lane.

63 Assist problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/02/2022

I have a 2018 Honda Cr-v purchased 12/4/2017. During the fall/winter of 2018, the warning lights and bells came on for apparently no reason and the vehicle would barely move down the road. Turning off the vehicle and restarting it fixed the issue with the vehicle moving however the lights remained on. I took the vehicle in to be checked by the dealer at least twice, but they were unable to find any problem. At this time the only possible solution that I found from searching the problem on google was a possible loose battery connection or low voltage in batter. They reset the computer and it has continued to occur multiple times since then. Once again on Friday, February 4, 2022, I took the vehicle in for a service with the warning lights all on again. They fixed some extended warranty issues which they thought fixed the problem. However, within less than 5 minutes after starting the vehicle all the lights were on again. At this time, I again did a google search for this issue and now I am finding that 4 years later with hundreds of people continuing to have the same problem repeatedly the fix that seems to be the actual solution is to replace the fuel injectors. Yet, Honda is refusing to recognize this as their problem and forcing their customers to foot the bill for this repair that has obviously been an issue since the vehicle was purchased. When all the warning lights are on none of the vehicle safety features work and all the flashing lights and dinging bells are a major driver distraction. Nevermind when start your car and attempt to pull onto the road and the vehicle will not run over 5 miles an hour with the gas pedal to the floor. I had to pull over on the side of the road which was not wide enough for me to get out of the road and turn off my ignition and restart my car. Thankfully it would accelerate at a normal speed afterwards and I was able to get home safely.

64 Assist problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

-the car is rolling right and left even during the lane keeping assistance is on. -the driver seat started to deteriorate. -the air-condition compressor start to be noisy, no enough cooling even though it was winter season. - during the moderate bad weather all driver assist system cannot operate, while my last vehicle was better ( Hyundai elantra). - remote start engine does not work properly, while other cars is working ( same model, and same distance and direction).

65 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/23/2021

All warning lights on dash show up upon starting vehicle. Used to be intermittent, now constant. When lights are on, none of the safety or advanced driving features work--eg cruise control, lane keep assist, anti lock brake, parking brake. It has been taken to the dealership twice for this issue, and dealership has tried various things from replacing battery to updating software with no effect, costing hundreds of dollars and weeks of it being in the shop. From my internet search, this problem seems widespread and I do not feel safe driving without the safety features, abs, etc.

66 Assist problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/18/2021

1. My car like many other crv's I have read about online in forums and other sites is experiencing the fuel injection failure of crv's since 2017 model. The consumer reports article from 2018 stated the 2019 model was to include a "fix" for this problem but it has not. My car has been in the shop twice in 2 weeks for this issue and now I am facing a $1,788. 00 repair at my cost to have all new fuel injectors replaced at 51,400 miles. First sign of problem showed every safety system on the car failing and warnings on every light on the dash. Only after the 2nd trip to the dealer was the fuel injection code thrown on the computer. This problem leads to stalls, cuts offs, sluggishness in traffic which all cause safety issues. 2. The automatic emergency braking system on my car has alerted on multiple occasions when there is nothing in front of me, no obstruction, or any reason to throw the brake warning on the screen. There is one particular place on my daily commute where this happens consistently even though the light is green and there is no traffic flow ahead, beside or oncoming. 3. The lane keep assist program misreads shadows from the electric or telephone lines projected onto the roadway and steers to maneuver around them. It also tends to have difficulty when the road is wet in spots from rain earlier in the day. I keep it off most of the time now because of how it reacts.

67 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

Multiple times all system warning messages flash on dashboard screen. Audible alert also dings. Vehicle operates ok but warning messages continue to flash entire time vehicle is driven. Taken to Honda dealer twice. Errors cleared and sensing radar replaced. Issue continues to happen. Disconnect of neg battery for 30 sec clears all codes but underlying issue remains.

68 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

Every earring light comes on the dashboard at the same time. This has happened several times over the past year. The car abruptly stopped when I was traveling 30mph. The orange break light flashed and the car stopped itself when coming across a metal plate in the road. Luckily there wasn't any vehicle behind me or I would have been in an accident. Dealer said several software updates were needed and the a/c control panel needed replaced. Plus and oil change was needed in order to replace the a/c control panel. I have owned the vehicle since March 2020. I have taken it to the dealer for all oil changes and servicing since I've owned the car. I told the tech last oil change about the warning light issue and he said just drive the car in next time it happened because they needed the vehicle while it was happening.

69 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/14/2021

All ada warning lights come on when vehicle is being driven. Does not seem to affect drivability but all functions are disabled. Lights have gone off on their own once other times had to cycle power on computer to reset. Problem is becoming more frequent.

70 Assist problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/16/2021

Honda sensing turns off every time there is moderate rain or snow. The radar is not blocked nor is any windshield sensor. These sensors become unavailable when they are needed the most. This has happened multiple times.
