36 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/29/2023

I purchased my Honda vehicle in canada and legally imported it to the united states. I was contacted by my canadian dealership and advised that there is a recall related to the seat belts. Honda describes the recall int he following terms: "due to an improperly manufactured seat belt buckle channel, the driver and front passenger seat belt buckles may fail to latch, or may unlatch unexpectedly. An unlatched seat belt buckle may increase the risk of potential injury in the event of an accident. To resolve this issue, the affected vehicles will have both front seat belt buckles serviced by either replacing thebutton or, in some cases, the replacing the buckle assembly. " the canadian recall number is p27/p28. There is an identical u. S. Recall listed on the NHTSA website as "part 573 safety recall report, 23v-158. " the service department at sheehy Honda in alexandria, virginia told me they could not do the recall and they gave me conflicting information about what I need to do to get the recall work done at their dealership. One week has passed and their service manager has not responded to an email I sent seeking information on how to get the recall work done. I don't feel comfortable driving around with this defect, which endangers my family's safety, and I don't think Honda is following through on its obligation to complete the recall work.

41 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/05/2023

On February 5 2023, I attempted to buckle the front passenger seat belt on the referenced vehicle. The buckle would not latch in the assembly. We brought the vehicle to our local mechanic and it was determined that the latch mechanism was defective. I heard on the news that a recall was issued for 2018 Honda crv's for a defective seat belt latching mechanism on March 9. 2023. I was informed that my VIN was not included in the recall and Honda stated they would not cover the repair. Either this is a striking coincidence or the recall class is not complete and needs to be expanded. I read the reason for the recall was that the parts were not made to specification. Has it been determined specifically whether the defective parts were n.

42 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/14/2022

I had buckled in my seat belt, and then started my car. The “seat belt unfastened” indicator turned off. After driving a few yards, the seat belt spontaneously popped out of its socket. The seat belt warning light and alert sound then turned on and I stopped and clicked my seat belt back in the socket. It appears that I may not have “clicked” my seat belt into the socket the first time. There may be a defect here with the seat belt warning light. If the seat belt “male” makes sufficient contact with the seat belt “female”, the warning light turns off. But really, the warning light should only go off if the male clicks and locks into the female.

45 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/14/2022

When buckling my 3 kids in this newly purchased car I noticed the middle seat belt latch and the driver side passenger latches are flipped which results in seatbelts crisscrossing when both buckled. This means this supposedly “5 seater” car cannot safely buckle each seat making it a 4 seater car. Problem can be fixed if the belt buckles are flipped around.

46 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/23/2022

All 5 automatic door locks failed to open causing me to be locked inside the car. After many minutes and retrying the key fob I was able to exit via the front passenger door. Later that same day once returning home I was locked out of all 5 doors. The car was towed and the left front door and right rear door actuators were replaced. These had previously been recalled and replaced on extended warrenty in 2015. The failure of the locks this last week are acutally the Honda approved replacements. The problem was reproduced by the repairing garage. Odd sounds from the doors had been heard prior to the breakdown.

47 Seat Belt problem of the 2001 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/21/2022

The srs light has come on in our 2001 Honda Cr-v. Diagnostics at the dealership revealed that the control module is defective, and Honda does not cover its replacement. This is a safety issue, as the airbags will not deploy with the srs light on. Honda should be responsible for this. Please issue a recall. It appears this issue has been occurring for several years.

48 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/30/2021

When I put my child’s car set in the middle, or anyone sitting in my back middle seat the person sitting on the left hand side can not buckle there seat belt because the way that the buckles are put in it has to cross over the buckle for the middle seat. I brought it to the dealership they said there is nothing they can do to fix it that’s how all the models are made. It’s not safe and not convenient. I only realized this recently when I had my most recent child and actually needed to use all 3 seats with car seats.

50 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/06/2021

I was driving and stopped for traffic, however, I was rear ended and resulted in a 4-car pileup. Upon being rear ended and pushed fast toward the car in front and crashing the car in front, the airbags did not deploy. I had a passenger as well. During the accident the driver seatbelt did not lock, however, the passenger one did lock to prevent harm.

51 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/19/2021

The seat belt clips in the back seat that are placed together I feel are backwards. If you look in the backseat behind the driver's seat, that buckle and clip for the middle passengers seat should be flipped around. When utilizing the middle seat belt, it has to go around the seat belt to the left. This to me is a big safety concern as it adds extra pressure to the seatbelt buckling in, should there be an accident. Plus it makes it hard for the person to the left to buckle in their belt because the other seatbelt is in the way. I hope this issue can be fixed and may need to even be a recall.

52 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/08/2021

Seat belt buckles on the left side and the middle will make the seat belts cross over each other.

53 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/12/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2019 Honda Cr-v. Contact stated that the rear passenger's middle seat belt buckle clip failed. The contact stated that the buckle was installed in the reverse position. The contact's grand child's car seat car seat was located in the middle rear seat where the defective clip and buckle was installed. The contact used the middle passenger seat belt and clipped it into the right rear passenger's seat buckle. The contact took the vehicle to gillman Honda san benito (1801 industrial way, san benito, TX 78586, (956) 361-3700) and was informed by the mechanic that seat belt failure could not be corrected. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

54 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Very unsafe seatbelt configuration. The 2019 Honda crv is advertised as a five passenger vehicle. With the configuration of the seatbelts in the backseat the seatbelts have to crossover each other to seat five people. What I mean by crossover each other is the the actual buckle you snap the seatbelt into are reversed so in order to use the middle or fifth seat belt it has to crossover or under one of the other seatbelts into to to secure them. I spoke to the Honda dealership about the problem and they said the car was designed that was and there was nothing to correct. Essentially it is a four passenger car unless you want to risk buckling people in what appears to be an unsafe way.

55 Seat Belt problem of the 1997 Honda CR-V

56 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

1- for the engine, I can smell strong fuel inside the car cabinet. The smell sometimes is so strong that I get dizzy and I need to open the window till the car warm up. Happens while in motion, and stationary 2- for the seat built, the hook makes huge noise, and sometimes while hard breaking gets lose and left me unbuckled. You can hear the noise while stationary and the belt get's lose while braking to a full stop.

57 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

Recently purchased a 2020 Honda crv. I noticed the back seat belts (left and center) crisscross when buckled. I went back to Honda to complain and saw that all Honda crv's had this configuration. I looked up on a Honda complaint web site and found the three similar complaints. It was also a problem on the 2019 vehicles. It appears that we all believe this is a safety issue. If you have to get someone (possibly unconscious) out of the car this configuration could prove to be a problem. Here is one example of another complaint: seat belt problem #1 my husband and I were sitting in the back seat of our 2019 Cr-v and noticed that the seat belt inserts on the seat directly behind the passenger and middle seat were in the wrong position. In order to buckle the middle seat we have to pull down the strap from the top and connect one buckle directly next to the seat belt insert for the left passenger seat belt. So when we try buckling both the middle seat and the rear left passenger seat belt they are twisted around one another, making it unsafe to travel with three passengers in the back at a time. We have gone back to Honda in order to get the issue resolved but were unable to due to the fact that all of the 2019 Cr-v models were like that. We believe this is a safety issue. We often need to travel with three people in the back seat and this is truly an inconvenience for us, on top of it simply not being safe. We didn't think we'd have to check the back seat seatbelts when we purchased the vehicle, we've never had an issue like this in any of our previous cars.

58 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/28/2020

62 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

Three days ago my daughter has a car accident. Her car was hit and the other driver left the scene. Since then the airbag light is on and the seatbelt is not working. I took the car to a dealership and there's no recall. We are worried because my daughter could have been seriously hurt and the airbag didn't protect her. The car was stationary when it was hit.

65 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

While stopped in a chick fil a drive through, the seatbelt tightened down on my 11 year old and would not release. He unbuckled it, but it was wrapped around him and the belt would not allow you to pull down from the ceiling to give slack. It would not move more than an inch and was constricting his chest and waist area. I turned the car off and on and it would not release. I read the owners manual and there was no way to emergency release. I had to obtain a pair of scissors and cut the belt to get him out. It is felt this is a safety issue. He could not get out of the belt and the car was not even moving. Pictures are available.

66 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

While riding in front passenger seat, my daughter tried to pull the belt from the ceiling to loosen it. The belt would not allow her to loosen it and was locked down. She had to unbuckle it to loosen it. The car was not stopped and had not had brakes applied. We were on the interstate. This is a safety issue. It should not be locked unless there was hard braking. She was unsecured when she had to unbuckle it to loosen it.

67 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

I recently purchased a 2017 Honda Cr-v with the intent of using it as a 5 passenger vehicle. However, the rear seat belt does not allow to safely buckle 3 children in the back even though it was purchased as a 5 passenger vehicle. There are 3 seat belts provided but they cross over each other in a manner that makes the seat belts twist and does not safely buckle 3 children in at one time.

68 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/15/2019

Cannot buckle driver passenger seatbelt and middle passenger seatbelt at same time due to placement of buckles in seat.

69 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

The left, rear (behind driver) seat belt latch is in the wrong position creating a safety hazard. When three (3) passengers are on the rear seat, the belt from the center crosses over the belt from the left at the latching points; thereby creating a point of double load where the belts cross. In an accident this could be catastrophic. The problem is a design flaw that I noticed on the day specified on this form.

70 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

The left and center rear passenger seat belts cross over when buckled. This makes it impossible to have a passenger with a center child seat (except a few unusual models) and difficult to belt in 3 passengers. It seems unsafe because of the extra load on the belts in a crash. I have contacted the dealer and the dealer contacted Honda rep, I also complained to Honda customer service. They respond the official Honda national position is that the design is intentional to meet spacing requirements for outboard passenger, but no one including the engineer can verify that the design is safe in that it was crash tested this way. (the engineer states it is safe but does not know about crash testing). Can nhsta verify that this car is crash tested this way and these seat belts will protect rears seat passengers? otherwise we must treat as a 4 passenger vehicle, while it is advertised and described in the manual as 5 passenger (false advertise?). We discovered the problem on 6/5/19 after purchase and meantime were working with dealer and Honda to no avail.
