The airbag light is on in my 2006 Honda Element. It is well known to be a fault in the design of the seatbelt latch sensor. Honda won't take responsibility and wants to charge $$$$$ to diagnose and fix. This design flaw will cause the airbags to not deploy in a crash. Lives are at risk and Honda won't fix it.

I was driving my Honda Element 2009 on a hwy in SC. The car was in motion and I had a green light and the car was moving forward when a woman who was driving in the opposite direction, made a left turn in the intersection failing to yield me the right of way. My car impacted her car on one side most likely the passenger side door and the collision was a frontal collision for my car. None of the frontal air bags in my vehicle were deployed. I hit my face on the windshield and I suffered a contusion/ light fracture on my left ribs and a head concussion. Car was purchased at a local dealership on 12/21/2016 was a used car that never was involved in a collision and had a clean title and clean history. According to Honda dealership, the car belonged to one owner only in the past. The car was taken to the dealership to get the airbags replaced in February 2017. My biggest concern why the airbags were never deployed and protected me as they were supposed?.

My son rolled our 2005 Honda Element in a relatively low speed crash, about 30 mph. Although the roof was smashed in and windshield broken, the airbags did not deploy. Luckily he was wearing a seatbelt and escaped harm, but it seems like in a wreck in which the car ended up resting on its roof, that the side curtain airbags should have deployed.
I was driving on a curvy road where it had recently rained - only driver was in vehicle. The Element SUV skid and possibly hydroplaned a little. The SUV jumped the curb and crashed into a concrete column of a freeway overpass. The front end was smashed in and the radiator was destroyed. The passenger side airbag deployed but the driver airbag did not deploy. The collision was more on the driver side and it still did not deploy the airbag. The seatbelt I had on tensed up and kept me from crashing into the steering wheel. I did bounce a little and hit my head either on the side column or the frame above the window. The airbag may have prevented that. I am shocked it did not deploy.
Was involved in a car accident on 8/22/12. I was driving a 2007 Honda Element awd at 55mph. An accident happened in front of me which resulted in me hitting a truck and a van hitting me. The airbags never deployed. . . Not one! I am upset that I bought this car because of the safety measures and when I needed them, nothing happened. Both the driver and passenger suffered very sore necks, shoulders and backs! I want a investigation done on my vehicle to see why the airbags never deployed!!! thankfully nobody was killed due to some malfunctioning airbags.

I ran head on into the side of a Mitsubishi montero going 40 mph. The passenger airbag deployed even though there wasn't a passenger. The driver airbag did not deploy. The police, firemen, paramedics, and insurance adjusters were all shocked when they saw the car with the airbag not deployed. I have a photo of the damage to the front of the car that I can e-mail to you which will show the amount of damage. I have a photo of the inside showing the passenger airbag deployed and the driver airbag intact.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Element. While driving 65 mph, the contact had to swerve to avoid hitting a deer and the left rear struts snapped causing the vehicle to roll over 250 feet. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 103,476.
Accident involving a 2005 Honda Element. A front end crash when another vehicle ran a stop sign and we hit the vehicle in the drivers side causing major damage to both vehicles. Our Honda Element sustained front end damage approximate speed 30mph. The airbag on the Element did not deploy. Have you had any other complaints on Element airbags not deploying? we only sustained minor injuries.
The car slipped on ice and hit an embankment head on and the airbags did not deploy.
I rolled my 2005 Honda Element (2x drive) on I-95 at least four times according to fhp. My front airbag did not deploy, although my windshield was crushed in. And my drivers' side airbag deployed only partially (1/4). I was extracted from the vehicle and life-flighted to shand's emergency room in jacksonville, florida. I suffered multiple contusions; internal bleeding and severely fractured sternum. Had my drivers side airbag deployed, I probably would have been spared much of this trauma. I have thoroughly documented with pictures to support my claim, and my insurance adjuster also confirms this. I am awaiting the florida highway patrol's report.
While sitting behind a car waiting to make a left hand turn 2006 Honda Element was struck from behind by a car traveling approx. 45 mph. 2006 Element then struck the car in front of it. My 2006 Honda Element was involved in an accident. My front end impacted the passenger side of the other vehicle. The entire front end of the Element was crushed and part of the frame damaged beyond repair. The driver's airbag failed to deploy while the passenger's airbag did inflate. Driver has suffered bruising in the chest area from the seat belt. Car is currently in an autobody shop in arlington waiting for the insurance company to declare it unrepairable.

Driver ran into stopped car in front of him. Speed was sufficient to flatten the car up to the front of the engine - little damage behind that. Car is 2006 Honda Element. Air bag did not deploy. Safety belt did not lock up quickly - driver struck the steering wheel, and chest was bruised by top of steering wheel. Passenger seat moved to the full forward position, almost touching the dashboard. No significant injuries resulted, but safety systems did not work as expected.
2005 Honda Element's air bag inadvertently deployed. The consumer was exiting a parking lot and partially drove over a curb with the right front tire. As the tire rolled off the curb the passenger's side air bag deployed. There were no injuries. The consumer drove the vehicle tot he closest Honda dealer. After running the diagnostic test the technician informed the consumer that the air bags should not have deployed. The vehicle was taken back to the sales dealer who claimed that when the vehicle whet over the curd, the vehicle scraped the bracket for the step rail, which activated the sensor and the air bag,. The dealer denied any responsibility.
I was driving my Honda Element down a fairly busy street at 45 miles an hour. A man pulled out of a strip mall parking lot right in front of me. Although I honked my horn and slammed on the brakes, I could not avoid hitting him. My car has extreme front end damage and it was a high impact crash, however the air bags did not deploy. I am still waiting to hear if it will be determined to be totaled, but if it isn't, I do not feel safe driving this car in the future.
I own a 2003 Honda Element and was involved in an accident where I hit a pickup truck and both vehicles were total losses. The drivers side airbag did not deploy even though it was a frontal impact which pushed the front of the vehicle in by 24 inches and bent the frame - the passenger airbag did deploy even though no other passengers were in the vehicle. I reported the problem twice to Honda America but they are refusing to acknowledge a problem exists.
During a 45 mph frontal collision front air bags did not deploy. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
While driving 30 mph vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy. The driver sustained severe neck and spinal injuries.
While driving 45 mph consumer swerved to avoid rear ending another vehicle, and hit a phone pole dead center. Upon impact, only the passenger's side air bag deployed. The passenger side air bag was reinstalled by the dealership. Also while driving at 45 mph consumer swerved to avoid hitting a motorist who pulled in front of him. . Consumer's vehicle hit the other vehicle on the front driver's side. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy.
