4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Honda Element

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

Takata inflators this is our only means of transportation to our jobs with out children one of which has a lot of medical apts. There are only 2 seats in the rear for my children's car seats, which does not allow anyone to sit back there instead of the passenger seat. I contacted Honda right away and processed an urgent claim for loaner transportation for the safety of my family while parts are on back order atleast 3 weeks. A year and a half before I had an issue with the air bag recall and this accommodation was made so I know they are able to help out. It's been a week and half and 2 calls to their customer service to follow up with the case manager that they said was to overwhelmed to get back to me. If my family is injured during this wait I will file a lawsuit in regards to this matter. When I asked to file a complaint and requested a different case manager the man told me everyone is urgent and I'll just document your complaint in the call. I will never purchase a Honda again especially if they have this many issues with a safety device and cannot ensure my families safety during this situation. This is very disappointing.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Honda Element

Failure Date: 05/04/2015

Air bags: recall 2005 Honda Element, announced: June 20 2014 Honda: a message to our customers about takata airbags 10/28/2014 revised 02/11/2015 on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, NHTSA convened a one-day workshop. Appearing on behalf of Honda was bruce smith, senior vice president, parts, service and technical division. Following is smith's statement. Getting to 100% recall completion rates: incentives and innovative ideas "due to the size of the campaigns to replace takata inflators, we also worked to increase the supply of replacement parts, and succeeded in securing three additional suppliers -- trw, daicel and autoliv -- that are now supplying us with inflators. This will help accelerate the pace of repairs in the coming months. " I received my recall notice in April 2015. The dealership set an appointment 3 weeks later, may 4, 2015. I received three emails, and one voicemail, to remind me of the appointment. 43 minutes after I brought the car, the dealer told me that they did not have the new airbag. I got them to provide me with a rental car. They offered no time-frame for when the part will arrive or when I will get my Element back. Mr. Smith, how can you get to 100% recall completion rates if you cannot provide the replacement part? to quote you from the above statement, "completion rates of about 33 percent in the 9th and 10th year of ownership. To amplify this point, let me explain that we have enlisted a special investigative firm as part of our effort to contact hard-to-reach owners of older model vehicles affected by the takata airbag inflator recall. On a number of occasions, the investigators succeeded in locating the owner, but despite best efforts to persuade them, the customer refused to bring in their car for repair. " I brought you my car seven months after the start of recall. Now what?.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Honda Element

Failure Date: 04/27/2015

There has been no crash as such--I am complaining about Honda's lack of responsiveness to the airbag inflator recall. I have been trying to get this recall taken care of for some time. Currently, a Honda dealership has my car but I can get no information from them about when the part will be in--they did not even seem familiar with the recall when I took the car in for service & showed them the letter. I do have a rental car for now, but this is not acceptable as a long-term solution. A call to customer service resulted in my being told (politely!!) that there was nothing they could do, it was a big recall, it was all in the hands of the dealership. I did receive a case number to assist in getting a better rental, but was told they would call as soon as possible--??whenever that is. I feel that I am receiving the runaround from this Honda dealership, that possibly Honda is stalling on the recall, hoping people will just get tired and give up.

12 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Honda Element

Failure Date: 02/02/2008

On February 2, 2008, my husband and I were driving from milwaukee WI to madison WI which is about 80 miles. There was no snow on the road that morning, roads were clear. All of a sudden we heard what sounded like a gun shot go off. We had no idea what it was and moved out of traffic to the shoulder to pull over. We then noticed that the side airbag that is located in the drivers seat deployed. Nothing hit us, we hit nothing. Called schlossmans Honda city that Monday they said they have never heard of this happening. I made an appointment to bring the car . The first thing they said was that I must have hit something. Then made another appointment for them to look at it and run some tests on it. Again nothing. The sensor triggered the airbag but there is no damage anywhere on my car. This repair is going to cost over $1200 Honda refuses to cover this. I have about 30,000 miles on my 2004 Element, my warranty is expired. I contacted private auto insurance, I have a $500 deductible . I have contacted Honda corporation in California and started a claim because I feel not only should they cover this repair but should check out the other sensors and airbags in my car. What if I get this one fixed and it happens again? we could have gotten into a serious accident or worse. I have researched this on the internet, seems there are several people that have had problems with Honda's airbags. They either deploy when they aren't suppose to or don't deploy in serious accidents. I believe this is Honda's responsibility to check all airbags in certain models. Currently my car is not fixed, I am still working with Honda city pete loberg, mgr. Who is doing all he can to assist me. I truly believe this is something that requires your assistance to ensure the safety of people in their cars with these airbags.
