36 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Honda Element

Failure Date: 12/27/2013

I hit a deer last December and the olny reason the insurance company did not total it was because the air bags did not deploy. There was just about $10,000 worth of damage to my car. After waiting a month and a half, traveling 18 hours & spending an extra $200 for travel to go get my car I finally got it back. Also, my car does not idle like it should. It will also go dead when I come to a stop. It doesn't happen all the time but it will happen in the middle of traffic and I will be stuck there for a few minutes.

37 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Honda Element

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

The car shut down while driving and came to an instant stop. The first time this happened the vehicle shut down completely while pulling into a business. Thankfully there was no one behind me. It has been maybe a year from the first incident and now the car will flash off and on within a nano second while driving at different speeds and also while coming to a stop and turning corners. The headlights also dim at different times while driving. This is very scary and will eventually cause an accident. I will be making an appointment with the local dealer ASAP. I am hoping that by getting the ignition recall completed this will fix the issue.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Honda Element

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

Heavy snow conditions (CT Feb. 6, 2015) car transmission light appeared, pulled over, read manual which instructed driver to proceed moderately, without rapid acceleration, to either a service garage or safe place. Drove home (4. 5 miles) but drive is steep. Some wheel slippage then car stalled and would not start. Towed February 6 to champagne motors of mansfield, CT. Researched problem on line and discovered a recall for tcm that was not performed on car. Champagne could not do repairs and car ended up at Honda of manchester,CT. After 4 weeks called Honda to mention the recall (nhsta # 11v-395) and service clerk said their repairs had nothing to do with the problem unless I was shifting from d-n-r to rock the car in snow. I said I was in drive up a hill, slipped, shifted to n then r to back up, then d, and it failed. Dealer never checked for open recalls when car (bought used) was purchased. Not sure if they are required to by law.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Honda Element

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

Keyless remote will not work for any doors. Key will not allow you to manually turn without getting stuck or jammed on the driver's side (from the outside). The door will only lock if you crawl through from the passenger side and lock it manually. This is inconvenient, unacceptable and a common problem among Honda Element owners. This issue should cause a recall for Honda to fix.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Honda Element

Failure Date: 03/16/2011

Hit a speed bump and the gage needles fell off the tech and speedometer. Now there is a glaring light where the needles use to be making it very hard to see. Especialy at night. Honda admits there is a defect but will not fix unless I pay for everything.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Honda Element

Failure Date: 08/28/2010

Drove car on a 6 hr trip with one stop for gas during daylight hours therefore there was no need to turn headlights on. When reaching destination, headlights had turned on by themselves although the headlight switch on the steering column remained in the 'off' position and was never turned on by the driver that day. Car headlight warning would not sound when car was turned off and door open even though the lights remained on. Removed headlight fuse that night. The next day, inserted fuse and headlights were still on. Took to Honda dealership who replaced headlight relay but that same day headlights continued to turn on by themselves while car was turned off. Dealership replaced entire fuse box to fix the problem. Less than one week later, while driving the car will not go over3,000 rpm. Took to dealership who stated that the vtech sensor for oil pressure needed to be replaced. Was bought new in Aug 2006 so only has been driven by one owner for 4 years with dealer recommended maintenance performed.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Honda Element

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

Tachometer and speedometer needles randomly fell off. I was just driving down the road, and the tachometer needle fell off, and about a week later, the speedometer needle did the same. I took off the bezel and it seems that the plastic shaft that holds the needle in place was cracked in several places, that negatively affected its ability to hold on to the metal shaft in the cluster. This is nothing that was done to the car, this is a manufacturer's defect. This should be covered under recall, since I can't drive the car and know exactly how fast I'm going.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Honda Element

The consumer also stated there was a persistent clicking sound coming from the front passenger seat. In addition, a malfunctioning radio console was replaced. Air bags and cruise control stopped working. Air bags is a safety issue and brought to dealer. Cable reel assembly in steering column was bad. Dealer said I had to pay for new assembly and labor.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Honda Element

Failure Date: 11/26/2007

I replaced the tires on my new 2008 Honda Element on 10/21/2007 at 869 miles since the tires that the came with the vehicle had poor traction in rain. A month later, the tpms light came on and I took it to the dealer on 11/26/2007 at 1056 miles. Honda of seattle concluded that the system just needed a reset and proceeded with doing so. Several days later, the tpms light came on again so I took it to Honda of seattle on 12/05/2007 at 1161 miles. They found that one tire sensor was not sending out a signal so it was replaced. Several weeks later the tpms sensor came on again so it was taken to Honda of seattle on 01/04/2008 at 1840 miles. This time Honda of seattle replaced another tpms sensor and the tpms receiver unit, however the tpms light was still on. At this time, Honda of seattle concluded that the new tires that were installed (elsewhere) had too much carbon in them thus blocking the signals from tpms sensors and therefore the problem would not resolve itself until the tires were replaced. Five years later, since I was wanting to replace the tires again, I took it to Honda of seattle to confirm their previous diagnosis that the tires were a problem. Now they stated that the tpms light was on due to the failure of all four sensors related to water corrosion. They replaced all four sensors on 09/25/2012 at 28206 miles. Shortly thereafter, the tpms light came on again and Honda of seattle found that one of the new tpms sensors had failed so they replaced it on 10/03/2012 at 28317 miles. After that, with no light coming for weeks, I felt comfortable that the tpms problem was finally corrected and replaced all four tires on 10/20/2012 at 28518 miles. However on 11/11/2012 the tpms light came on again and the car was taken to Honda of seattle on 11/14/2012 at 28691 miles. Two of the new sensors had failed again and were replaced.
