1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

Car is under recall to replace fuel pump assembly. The service department of the first dealership I called, castle Honda in morton grove, IL, told me they would need to inspect the car first before ordering the part and would only replace it if it was damaged. I argued that that was not what the recall notice said they would do, but the rep insisted they would need to inspect the car and it might not need repair. I called a second dealership and they immediately scheduled an appointment for the repair. (my complaint is with the castle Honda dealership, not with american Honda).

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

After parking and returning to vehicle, on start up, multiple check engine lights went off. Code was read as p0303 engine cylinder 3 misfire. Car ~8000 miles, on taking to dealership was told extreme carbon buildup had caused misfires. Car was returned, functioned for a month. Issue reoccurred, fuel injectors, fuel joint pipe set, and fuel pump were replaced. Car is currently functional but it is concerning that fuel injectors have failed on a new vehicle after under 10,000 miles.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

My car suddenly started to shimmer and have a fluctuation in power as I was driving on the interstate at 60 mph. I had to move over two lanes to park on the shoulder and turn off the engine. The following warning lights were malfunction; traction control; power steering and the tire pressure light was blinking nonstop (it was on solid prior to the incident). I was not safe on the shoulder with cars flying by on the interstate. I pressed the start button and after a slight hesitation, the car started. I was able to drive a half mile on the shoulder and get off the interstate so I was in a safer location. The car's power was inconsistent as I drove this half mile. All the warming lights remained on. I had the car towed to the Honda dealer's shop. The Honda shop was able to replicate the same problem and warning lights that I reported. They said the high pressure fuel pump had failed and replaced it. They did not provide any explanation what the part failed. The car only has 12,000 miles on it and has had all the scheduled service and recalls addressed, now that the high pressure fuel pump has been replaced the car runs normal again. Exactly two weeks before this incident, the same Honda dealer shop changed my oil & filter and performed the scheduled maintenance checks and they replaced the plug top ignition coil per a safety recall. I have wondered if there could be a relationship between the failure of the high pressure fuel pump and the dealer shop having replaced the plug top ignition coil. I have the Honda dealer paperwork supporting my reports. The car's shimmering and loss of power on the interstate put me in serious danger of a car accident.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 06/07/2015

I am writing this complaint on behalf of my 78 year old mother. Approx. The beginning of June, she smelled gas when she got in the car and it was not runningr. A few days later, she could smell the gas outside, when it was also not running. She called Honda and went for an appointment. They told her that the fuel pump was damaged from "rodents eating" it and it was "leaking gas". It also had a rodent nest on it. That repair cost her $699. 52. One of the workers at the Honda dealership told her this was a common"problem due to what the plastics are now made of and the rodents are attracted to it". On June 15, she picked up the car and went home and had a friend check the filters and found another nest in the cabin filter, and changed the filter. In October, she saw evidence of mice inside the car. Again the cabin filter had mouse debris and also the engine filter. She changed both filters. She called Honda support, and told them that she caught a mouse with a trap in her car. And "ceasar" at Honda support said that they were "having problems with rodents eating wires and plastic" which we later found out were likely made from soy and apparently rodents like to eat. Then they told her to get her wires covered with a "rodent deterrent tape" and she made an appointment with Honda dealer and took her car back in. That cost her $563. 46. Honda support said the damage was not covered by the warranty. I believe that this is a significant safety issue in that gas was leaking out of my mother's car. And this is a problem that Honda has stated is known, yet they are making lots of money by not reverting back to the previous or alternative plastics!!!.
