1 Starter problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

Car would not start intermittently for about a month. Several times it took over 15 minutes to get the car to start. Dealership states after analysis that it is the starter. They said it is not the starter switch, alternator or battery. A new starter installed will cost over $700. This is happening to many Honda cars that I've researched on the internet, but Honda has no recall on this issue. Something fishy about that.

2 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

The car is progressively getting more difficult to start with about 15 tries. I had it diagnosed for the starter and it tested fine. Also the alternator, batter and fob battery checked out fine.

3 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/22/2020

Hello, the car won't start. It's a keyless start button. Button, panel, music, lights and all start. Everything's normal but the car won't start or turn over. I lower the handbrake, press down on the brake and press the starter button but can't get the engine to start. It has started after numerous tries. But the problem persists. I can't reliably expect to start the car. Please advise as I see many complaints posted on the web.

4 Starter problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

2016 Honda Fit with approximately 44,000 miles. Problem started to occur in early December of 2019 and has continued for the past 2 months. Problem is that the car is unable to start. On numerous attempts to start the car, when the key is turned all systems are powered, but the engine won't crank. Battery has been replaced twice to ensure it's not the battery. There is no corrosion on any of the electrical cables. There are multiple accounts online of other Honda Fit owners encountering premature starter failure. Contacted Honda and they informed me it was my responsibility to repair the vehicle despite the vehicle being relatively new.

5 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

My key ignition light went on starting 9/2019. I went to the dealer and had to get the electrical panel related to the ignition and starter replaced. It might be related to the recall of the 2013-14 model where the front panel had to be replaced.

6 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

When starting the vehicle, a noise could sometimes be heard when the engine was turning over. Here is a video of the noise (I did not make this video, this came from another person who has the same issue with a 2015 Fit. His is a push button start. Mine is a key start. ): https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=dihldjfgqja recently, the noise has stopped, but when starting the car, the dash will turn on, lights, ac, etc. . . But the engine will not turn over. I sometimes have to attempt to start the car multiple times before the engine actually turns over. This appears to be a common issue in the 2015 Honda Fit, with many people starting to experience it between about 35k and 50k miles. The car not starting has been going on for a couple weeks, the engine noise was going on for months. Here are links of others complaining of the same issue: https://www. Carcomplaints. 7 Starter problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/23/2019

While driving the radio, dash lights, head lights, and power steering cuts out for a moment then comes back on. This started occasionally 3 months ago with just the radio and dash lights and has progressed to several times in a row and now includes the head lights and power steering. There is no predictability to when or how many times it will happen. Once it happened when I was coming off the highway going around the ramp at a good speed, the electrical went out I lost power steering and almost hit the guard rail it came back on just in time for me to regain control. Took it to Honda dealer with my complaints; they did a multi point inspection and checked faults-no faults stored. Also checked wiring and connectors-all ok. Told me it was probably the after market starter, I should be fine, to contact the starter people as it is most likely their product issue and not Honda's, then sent me home charging me over an hour of labor. A few days later it cut out 12 times in less than 3 mile; I had to find a gas station to pull over in as I did not feel safe driving the car. Turned it off & let it sit for a few minutes, started it again & had no further issues until the following day when it happened another 8 times in a row. Contacted the car starter company told them what was going on; they removed the starter. But told me he looked it up online & discovered this has happened to other Honda Fits & is most likely related to a faulty alternator. Another issue related with this alternator problem is dead batteries which has happened to me as well & am on my 3rd battery with in 6 years! the car starter guy said he was concerned with my safety & to have it looked at by my mechanic and have them look at the alternator. Well 2 days later the check engine light came on & is in the garage today; not the Honda dealership.

8 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

While driving on the interstate at appx 65 miles per hour during the evening of 2/14, all the warning lights on the instrument panel briefly lit then shut-off. The engine also shut down causing me to pull to the side of the road and attempt to restart. After depressing the electronic ignition button about 10 times, the vehicle finally started. This vehicle has been experiencing issues with not starting since 02/02. The dealer replaced the start button on 2/5 and replaced the starter on 2/12. Even after those replacements, the car still has issues starting.

9 Starter problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

I need a new starter. I bought my 2016 Honda Fit used 5 months ago. It now has 43,900 miles. A 3 year old car with this mileage should not need to have the starter replaced. I tried 2-3 times to start my car but it wouldn't start. No clicking noise, no noise at all. I thought it was a dead battery and when jumped it started right away. Several more times it wouldn't start the first time but the 2nd and 3rd time trying it turned over and started. My neighbor told me it could be electrical. This has happened at least 10-15 times and after trying 3-4 times it starts right up. I finally took my car to my mechanic when tested he said it was the starter and said I needed a new one. It will cost $500. 00 for the new part plus labor. Well over $700. 00 dollars. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty. I will have to pay $44. 00 because the extended warranty only allows "at cost" for parts. Another thing, after going through the car wash or after a rain storm the inside of the door panels are full of water but luckily the water doesn't enter the car as I've read on other complaints about this model Honda. One more thing while I'm complaining. . . A lot of highway road noise. For the price Honda could and should be making a much better vehicle. On the plus side, it is easy to drive, maneuver and park.

10 Starter problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Similar issue to the others, have the right hand circular lcd panel of the dash which has progressively become worse and is locked, glitched or completely out most of the time when driving or stationary. Started when the car was just out of warranty in 2018 but is now unbearable. Includes odometer, fuel gauge (safety issue), fuel economy and other trip information. Also have had the often mentioned intermittent non-starting issue which was solved with a new starter with less than 35,000 miles on the car.

15 Starter problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

The starter in all of these vehicles goes bad very fast. Stating with an odd sound of metal to metal on cold starts (due to the starter not retracting fast enough) 5 people that live near me have all had the same problem my car is now doing it again with a 3 year old replacement denso oem Honda starter, Honda needs to fix this. . .
