1 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Fit. When attempting to start the vehicle she noticed that the electronic power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and the steering column was locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician located an angle sensor error code. However since the technicians could not duplicate the failure, they did not make repairs. The failure mileage was 2200. The vehicle identification number unavailable. Updated 12/07/09 the manual stated to restart the engine to reset the eps and it worked after several tries. The consumer drove the vehicle about 1 mile when the power steering failed again. The power steering failed again when the mileage was 2570. The vehicle was returned to the dealer. Again there was an angle sensor error code. The eps control unit was replaced by the dealer. Updated 12/09/09. Contact says the vehicle failed again on 2/1/2010. Contact says the power steering rack was replaced by the dealer but the part still failed. Failure miles were 4444. Current miles are 4450. Contact chose not to give VIN. Aa.

2 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 03/26/2008

I experienced a safety issue with my Honda Fit vehicle (I have a 2007 non-sport model, automatic) on March 26. After stopping at an intersection, I made a right hand turn and the steering wheel seemed to lock into place. The car continued turning to the right, nearly hitting the curb. I managed to force the steering wheel to the left and straightened the car. I then realized what had happened: one of the keys on my key chain had been sticking out and got stuck in a small orifice that is located on the back side of the steering wheel, near where it meets the steering column. The orifice is just big enough to Fit a finger inside. (there is an orifice on both the left and right sides of the wheel. ) I reported this to both the Honda "800" customer service number and to my local Honda dealer in princeton, NJ.

3 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/05/2006

- the contact stated that the vehicle accelerates by itself. When he turns the steering wheel either left or right the vehicle proceeds at approximately 2-5 mph. The contact states all he has to do is turn the steering wheel slightly and the vehicle moves forward. He took the car into the dealer to have it looked at and they could not find any problems. He said they compared the vehicle to another Honda civic 07 and was told that is how these cars work. The contact is concerned that when he turns the wheel and steps on the gas pedal his speed doubles. The contact has a Honda civic ex, it is not listed as an option in the menu.
