1 Body Control Module/bcm problem of the 2018 Honda HR-V

Failure Date: 12/14/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Hr-v. The contact stated that while his daughter tried to turn on the engine, the vehicle failed to start. Several warning lights were illuminated. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked overnight, the headlights would independently turn on, and the alarm would turn on independently as well. This caused the battery to fail. The contact stated that all the electrical systems would independently turn on. Most recently, the contact stated that while the vehicle was idle the engine would stall. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer. However, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle remained at the dealer and upon further investigation it was diagnosed that the body control module (bcm) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle pending repairs. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
