Service Brakes Problems of Honda HR-V - part 2

The parking brake engages on and off when the car is turned off. There are 3 lights flashing -check engine light -the word “park” - the parking brake light I have had the code read and it says it is the evap canister purge valve which has already been replaced, the light went off temporarily and it’s back on again. The transmission is noisy when accelerating. The purge valve keeps going bad for no apparent reason and the parking brake randomly engaging and disengaging when the car is turned off leads me to believe there is an issue overall with the build of the car. I am worried the emergency brake will engage when driving.

While driving in the freeway trying to exiting all of sudden I feel my steering wheel move itself toward the curve and trying to break and steer itself at the same causing my vehicle to crash agaist the curve and go to on top making me loose control of steering wheel and crashing to the car infront of me, also the airbags didn't deploy at all, seatbelt did not protect me at all it was loose, I ended injur my head I requred going to the abulance to the emergency room. Police report was made and reported to my car insurance.

The braking system did not work when pushed. It is not available for inspection as it is in a totaled state. My safety was at risk as it sped into a building. It has not been attempted to be reproduced. Vehicle was inspected by police. To be inspected by insurance. There were no warning lamps of any sort.

I was turning left into a parking spot at work with my foot slightly on the break when my engine revvved and my car accelerated at face pace and my brakes were unresponsive causing me to hit a parked truck in front of me. Upon impact my vehicle kept trying to accelerate causing me to keep pushing the truck until my front right side of my car broke off. My car still kept accelerating and went across the concrete parking block and finally came to a complete stop. Once stopped I could not get the vehicle to turn off. Within minutes the engine finally died. I work inside a chemical plant right next to a highly explosive unit so this could have been catastrophic. Not to mention the people that work there were coming into work as well and could have been pinned between the two vehicles. The plant I work at has thousands of employees. Had I been leaving work and crossing the highway and this occurred I would have been killed and most likely so would have others. I exit my job onto an extremely busy highway. A police report was not filed because it was inside the plant but several people witnessed it. I had to have my vehicle towed as it was too damaged to drive. I have not contacted Honda because I have seen numerous unresolved complaints so I doubt it would help. Prior to this accident I had no problems with the vehicle. My vehicle is in this shop still as this incident just happened 2 days ago. I would like to get rid of the vehicle but then someone else may buy it and have the same issue.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Hr-v. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the "brake" warning light had intermittently flashed on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the brake calipers were leaking fluid and the calipers were serviced. No further information was available. Later while pulling into a parking space and pressing the brake pedal, the pedal extended to the floor and the vehicle crashed into a metal fireman's latter. During the crash the vehicle sustained severe front end damage but no air bags deployed, the seat belt malfunctioned and did not secure the driver. The driver sustained a fractured lumbar spine vertebrae and was transported to the hospital. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer was notified of the crash. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 5,000.

Brakes failed, air bags didn't deploy, seat belt failed, collision mitigation system failed.

Issues: sunroof leaks heavily: during the rain and in car washes, into the backseat, which is ruined now from the constant leaking this past winter 2022-23 *sunroof replaced 3/2023 continues to leak heavily weather strips: doors lacking weather strips, or the weather strips are so loose and loosely connected, it serves very little purpose, I. E. , the seal attaches loosely to widely spread intermittent hooks, these are not attached securely and leak significantly. Brought to Honda: never repaired steering: severe instability when both turning and accelleration!! very dangerous when making a left hand turn from a stopped position!! this happens daily! body parts: cheaply made, put together incorrectly by the manufacturer Honda in mexico, e. G. , Honda is completely aware of the plethora of body defects, including the sunroof. According to Honda service manager ukiah CA. Brake system: very poor, I would caution the need to slam on the brakes as they take much to long to engage.

The car randomly decides to slam on it's brakes, it's becoming more frequent as time goes on, the crv and accords of the same year are already recalled due to this issue and I'm sure the hrv will need to be added to this recall.

I purchased the vehicle on 2/17/22 and shortly afterwards started noticing problems starting with acceleration car wouldn’t go past 45 mph or lower. The car radio system has static can’t get reception; the battery died requiring a jump. On 9/21/22 and January 10, 2023 I took car to dealer about these problems and other concerns and they said couldn’t verify my concerns. On 5/9/23 I set out for my first long distance trip from vallejo CA, to las vegas nv after driving approximately 200-300 miles the dashboard light up light a christmas tree with several system problem warnings as follow: power steering system (eps) problem, road departure mitigation, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, emissions system problem, all wheel drive system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, hill start assist problem, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic brake distribution (ebd) continuously flashing, hold brake light, oil light flashing and the drivers and front passenger airbag light flashing. I had to stop in los angeles CA, Honda service center and they couldn’t do a diagnostic test that day and warning lights went off after technician disabled the road departure mitigation system and was told it was safe to continue on to vegas. However, all warning light as mentioned came back on and remained on. I took the car to Honda west in vegas on 5/11/23 and was told car had a misfiring code. Diagnostic test performed and multiple repair codes were detected but they couldn’t duplicate concerns, took fuel sample test and it passed, cleared dtcs performed final test verified no dtcs returned or currently present/stored and they returned car to me. On 5/15/23 left vegas and the same system warning lights came back on, stopped in los angeles again and stayed overnight and the lights were off the next morning. I took vehicle to avery green Honda after speaking to sales manager sean shahid where the car remains to date for further diagnostic testing.

I had three warning lights come brake system, electronic break, and e brake. I was told at the dealership that the factory warranty ended less then two weeks ago and thus neither the diagnostics nor any of the repairs would be covered by the warranty. Even though it is obviously a factory defect. Also after a little research it became very obvious that it is a very common occurrence among hrv’s that seems to be happening anywhere from weeks to years after purchase.

While driving multiple warning lights came on stating braking system failure, collision system failure, check engine lights , emissions system problem, brake hold system failure etc. There were no lights prior. I was at highway speeds when all of this took place which could have turned out to be rather disasterous. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that this was caused by the drain of sunroof being clogged from the elements. The drainage system backed up and water entered front cabin. Dealer states this is not covered under warranty. Even though this is a near brand new car.

Steering wheel gets loose and loud clonking noise from rear of vehicle, back window shattered while car was parked with no one around. Brakes have been grinding since day of purchase.

1. The dealership assembled a new engine and pulse control module. 2. 1st issue was the car wasn’t in safe condition to drive due to knocking noise. 2nd issue is that the pedal wasn’t working properly as had to pull over to the shoulder and then the car wouldn’t leave from a parked state, brake light was on, and engine overheating. 3rd issue got car back with a smoke/cigarette/burn odor and jittering / stuttering when put in a stopped state transitioning to a moving state. 3. Yes, bill page Honda in falls church. 4. Yes 5. No warning prior to failure 07/28/car experienced loud knocking noise upon being turned on and got it towed to dealership on 07/29/22. Dealership got a new engine for the 1st issue and I picked up the car in September 2022 but upon driving it for the first time since the 1st issue, experienced pedal not functioning to accelerate and engine overheating causing me to get car towed back to dealership on 09/20/22. 10/02/22 picked up the car from the dealership and I noticed a burn / smoke odor left on the car. Let me be clear that neither I nor anyone who has stepped foot in my vehicle smokes so this was quire alarming. Also, while driving it I noticed my car started to jerk / stutter / hesitate whenever it was in a non-moving position transitioning to a moving position. 10/10/22 I returned my car back to the dealership due to the 3rd issue regarding the odor and jittering / stuttering issue. 11/30/22 picked up the car as the dealership informed me the car was ready with the issues resolved, however upon getting the car back and driving it back home I experienced the same issues and they didn’t resolve the odor problem. Even after the fact of bringing it to the dealership for the past 4 months, more issues keep surfacing making it more and more dangerous to handle my vehicle and I’m not trustworthy of it nor my dealership that’s been attempting to resolve issues under my active car warranty.

Flashing light park & red check engine appeared. Car would not move & was jerking & lunging forward. Stopped on road with heavy traffic & very concerned for my safety.

I was driving on a nevada highway and getting into an off ramp with mild traffic. I attempted to break so I could stop behind another driver and realized my breaks weren't working. I then put my entire body weight on the breaks and they failed to stop or slow down my vehicle. I ended up colliding into the vehicle ahead at 50 mph. Even with an impact of 50mph not a single airbag went off. I sustained head injuries. This could have been lethal. Myself and my passenger could have died. The breaks failed resulting in a collision and the air bags did not go off. My vehicle was totaled on the spot and I spent over 7 hours in the hospital due to my vehicles failing to keep me safe. I did reasrch and almost every other 2016 Honda hrv has a recall for the breaks and somehow mine did not when the breaks failure could have killed me.

The NHTSA should recall these brakes or open an investigation alongside the electrical system. After reading the complaints on this website, I have found these problems in my 2022 Honda Hr-v ex-l.

I heard of an ongoing investigation partaining to 2019 accords and cr-vs, so I wanted to add this information: I have a 2019 Honda Hr-v, and at least twice, the automatic breaking system has engaged erroneously/at dangerous times. The most glaring incident, I was driving in one lane at ~30 mph, and there was a left turn lane with a stationary car that I approached. I was not in the turn lane, I did not try to turn into the lane. My emergency brakes detected the car, one lane over, and unsafely slammed the brakes. I ground to a halt/5 mph, on a 30-35 mph road, and was almost rear ended. Luckily, nothing happened, but since then I have started to deactivate emergency breaking.

When you're driving down the highway your break automatically come on. The brake light comes on it goes beep beep and the brakes slams on really hard and you can hear you the brakes grinding. And there's nothing in front of you no cars or anything and it's done that three times on me just today. It's been doing that off and on for about 2 months now.

Original tires, breaks & shocks were on the vehicle. The dealership told me they were new. I had this car for a year. The car was sold 19,000. 00 overpriced and now it's worth 13,000. 00.

Just bought this 2022 hrv awd ex back in October 2021. I already have one prior issue with the emissions problems and the brake system. When I took it to Honda they said they would take care of it and they did. Something about calibration and getting a part for my car. This morning I tried driving it when out of nowhere I get all the parking lights emissions problems and parking lights flashing and the car won’t even go faster than 10 mph while white smoke coming out of the exhaust and starts pulling and yanking it’s pretty scary when you driving and it happens out of nowhere. Now the I can’t even drive my brand new car that I bought. It shows me on the dash for me to pull over and park. Take to dealer sign on dash.

Our 2022 Hr-v continues to have a problem with the windows fogging up after driving a few miles. This happens when it is very cold outside. (below freezing) I have also had two incidents when the inside of the front windshield has had a thin layer of ice and I have had to scrap the inside before being able to drive. The front brakes seem to grab when first applied when wet or iced.

I drive my car and if I tap the break just a little bit too hard, because I have to stop quickly or at lest slow down, my breaks locks up and I skid… I’ve never had this before in any car that I have owned. And I have owned Hondas before. I told the dealership in richmond indiana and in tampa florida about this problem more than once. They both just brushed it off and told me it was normal. I have complained more than once because my brakes have locked up on me more than once. Sometimes, I am doing 35 miles an hour and while approaching a red light… I try to push down on my brakes a little bit and it may lock up. It’s not good… as I’ve said I have a many new cars and I have never had this problem.

Car parked. When I went to drive, engine light, ((p))! light and park light remained on. The car would not go into reverse. Turned car off. Turned car back on. After 15-20 mins car went into reverse. While driving on I-95 all 3 lights turned on with the park light blinking. I pulled onto shoulder. Googled causes. I checked gas cap which was on tightly. This is extremely concerning as it states there is a problem with the electrical braking system. I purchased the car on December 11th 2021 and it’s already having issues. I was driving with an infant in the car. Someone needs to investigate why this happened and how to fix it before people end up in an accident.

While driving sometimes I would have to step harder than normal on the brakes to get the vehicle to slow down for some reason felt like it wasn't responding well. I feel the fuel pump isn't running properly. When I was at a stop light and even while driving several time I would accelerate and would feel like it wasn't reasoning to me pressing on the gas pedal. Please help get this fixed almost crashed!! multiple times.

I've taken this vehicle to dealership 5 times between October 2021 and February 18, 2022. Three different times the brakes activated without my touching them. Three other times the brakes stopped the car even as I was slowing down for a stoplight. This could cause someone behind me to "rear-end" my car. I have been to my dealership four times and they could not duplicate the issue, no codes found so they could not fix it. One other was a dealership out of town. On the fourth visit to my dealership, the cameras were adjusted and front wheels aligned. After fifth visit, the service coordinator supposedly turned off vsa, but the brakes applied themselves two more times. Every time these incidents occur the indicator "brake" flashes on. I tried to scan invoices but they were too large.

I was driving into my very short driveway tonight. I have a class b (van sized RV) parked in front. As I drove in and started to brake, the car accelerated rapidly. I tried pumping the brake, but the car accelerated and hit the back of the RV, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The air bags did not deploy, but the seat belt became very tight. I took the car into a dealer in utah 4 weeks previously and they did recall work on the brakes and fuel line. The problem with the brakes was excess air in the brake lines that they had to bleed, from what I read about the recall. I don't know if this is still the problem, but something caused the brakes to fail. I am now unsure if this car will be safe to drive, even after repairs. I live in a very remote area where the nearest community of any size is 2 hours in either north or south directions. There is open livestock grazing (horses and cattle) on the two lane highway and without the ability to brake as needed, this could be deadly for me, my passengers and the livestock. Please look into this. I have never had this happen!.

Brakes make scrapping sound as if the emergency brake was on.

Leak thru rooftop and water coming thru the passenger side. Affected sensor transmission and brake system red lights turn on. Need to replace sensor transmission and rooftop.

Received dash warning "brake hold system problem" . "electric parking brake system problem parking brake not available. See your dealer".
