Ignition problems of the 1999 Honda Odyssey

Four problems related to ignition have been reported for the 1999 Honda Odyssey. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

The contact owns a 1999 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the vehicle could be turned off and the key could be removed from the ignition without locking the transmission in park. The manufacturer was notified of the issue who stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 03v423000 (electrical system: ignition: switch) and offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 160,000.

2 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2003

The consumer was able to remove the key completely from the ignition, when the gear was in reverse, neutral or drive. Related investigation pe03-013.

3 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2000

Reporting a complete shutdown of vehicle when coming to a stop, vehicle towed to dealer, and informed that nothing could be found. Feel free to provide any further details.

4 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2000

Was driving approximately 55mph odometer rolled to 50,000 miles. When this happened, vehicle just stalled out. There was no prior warning of problem. Vehicle started to roll backwards. Placed vehicle in neutral & vehicle started right. Pulled to side of road & turned vehicle off. Will be taking vehicle to dealer to check out problem.
