44 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

I contacted a Honda dealer (Honda of columbia, lexington, SC 29072) for my Odyssey van airbag recall on 10 Nov and filed the recall repair. I asked a service rep what I needed to do when the airbag were not safe. He told me that I needed to keep driving my van at my own risk while new airbags were on order! on 31 Dec, I went to the dealer and asked the status of my airbag recall fix status. They gave me the same answer that I had to drive my van at my own risk until the airbags would arrive, but did not know how long it took. This is absolutely not right! Honda car owner have to keep driving at their own risks when the safety problems are caused by the company? the company must offer an alternative car for affected customers until their cars are fixed. Waiting for 2 months or longer is not acceptable especially when the recall may cause a fatal result.

45 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

I brought my Honda Odyssey into the kuhn Honda dealership (tampa, FL) for recall with regard to the supplemental restraint system NHTSA 14v-351 and 14v-353. They made the necessary replacements of the airbags, srs modification and shift interlock. After this modification, the air bag srs light lit up and they told me I need a new srs unit. They stated they could sell me a used one for $350-400 plus installation. I told them I did not want a used srs unit and would purchase a new one from Honda. I had them install the new srs unit on December 17, 2014. In March, 2014, I received another recall notice (NHTSA recall 15v-045 stating that Honda srs units needed to be replaced and my Honda dealership would be in touch with me when they received a new srs unit for my vehicle. On June 10, 2015, kuhn Honda replaced my srs unit a second time but I did not have to pay for it this time. I should not have had to pay for it the first time back in December 2014 but they stated if I did not the car would not be safe. I have a complete compilation of recalls and dealership receipts/documentation that I have saved and can email if necessary.

49 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

I have a complaint about the way Honda officials and the Honda dealership have been handing my requests to have my airbags replaced. My car has not been involved in an accident; however, in order to send this complaint to you I had to enter an accident date. I have been trying since March 2014 to get the dealer to replace the air bags in my 2004 Honda Odyssey. According to a Honda official at 1-800-999-1009 and the official Honda website, both my driver and front passenger airbags are affected to by recall notice. However, since March I have had several contacts with the dealership and continue to get a run around. They will not replace the bags until they prove, in diagnostic tests, to be defective. I will be charged $90 for each test they find negative. It was my understanding that all airbags from this region of the country and bearing my VIN, make and model were to be replaced free of charge. I have yet to receive a paper recall notice, because according to a Honda official on 9/15/14, the delay in mailing them out is due to the lack of sufficient available replacement airbags to handle the recall notice. I have left several voice mail messages with the dealership where I purchased my vehicle, but no one has returned any of my calls. Just what am I expected to do? how long must I wait to receive proper notice from Honda officials? am I expected to pay for all of the diagnostic tests? if an airbag passes a diagnostic test there's no guarantee that it will not deploy at a future time with the same disastrous outcome we've been hearing about in the news. Is anyone advocating on our behalf?.

I received a recall notice on my 2004 Honda Odyssey and immediately called coggin Honda of orlando at the end of February 2014. At the time the service person told me that they haven't received the parts as of yet and that they will contact me. In June I called again and was given the same excuse adding that they were running behind. Last week, on October 7, 2014, I took the Odyssey in for some repairs and asked about when they were going to fix the recall of the air bags on the vehicle and once again were given the excuse of running behind. At this point I have no other choice than to make this complain. The dealer has not showed me any interest on fixing the problem. What are they waiting for? are they waiting to see if I have an accident and hoping that the air bags will function properly.

61 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2012

Drove the car about 20 yards, then placed it in park to allow the rear van doors to open for our children. When the kids got in, I placed the shift lever in drive. Immediately, both the driver and passenger airbags deployed violently. I was not in motion, was not struck by any other vehicle or object, and my foot was on the brake. An off-duty police officer was parked right behind me saw this and came to help. He noted that the airbag firing mechanisms continued to fire. "I've seen a lot of wrecks" he said "but I've never seen the airbags continue to fire. The horn continued to beep. She sustained powder burns on both arms, and was, of course shocked by the surprise. It was raining at the time of the incident. The car has not been driven further. I had minor powder burns on my arms, and our ears were ringing from the loud explosions.

62 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

During the summer of 2012 I was parked facing the sun. When I started my car the srs (air bag warning) light illuminated. As I drove the 3 miles to my home the light stayed on. Within the next two weeks the same thing happened about two times. Honda service could not find any code in the car's computer indicating that there was a problem. Again during the summer of 2014 the same thing happened once. I think this srs light illumination may be an indication that the air bag is defective. I live in and bought the car in virginia. The recent takata air bag recall is a regional recall and does not include virginia. However, one of the fatalities caused by this defect occurred in virginia in December. So hot and humid weather is not the only cause of the air bag defect. I believe my Honda Odyssey's air bags are defective and should be recalled.
