Four problems related to structure have been reported for the 2006 Honda Odyssey. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2006 Honda Odyssey based on all problems reported for the 2006 Odyssey.

1 Structure problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2010

2006 Honda Odyssey excessive vibration from engine when at idle and especially when eco mode engaged or during slow acceleration. Honda dealer states the cause to be a broken motor mount which is a special design and costs over $500 - $600. The van has only 80000 miles but that puts it past warranty. See Honda service bulletin TSB 06-083 for a more detailed report from Honda. The reason I bring this to you is the many web sight blogs with similar issues and Honda's unwillingness to help with costs and or replacements. This could become a serious safety issue if someone can't afford to replace them and if the mounts design is at fault, simple replacement will only result in future failures. If this issue is allowed to persist for too long the other mounts begin to fail and the motor dropping out becomes a real possibility. This should be a recall by Honda and a redesign of the mount should be investigated.

2 Structure problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the heater was not working and she took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer discovered that the heater pipes contained mice droppings. The dealer cleaned the heater pipes and air way four times, but they could not correct the defect. She found that the pipes were made with a chemical that attracts mice, which contracted an airborne bacteria. Her two children were treated for the bacteria. A report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that it was due to an environmental issue. They further stated that nothing could be done to remedy the issue. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.

3 Structure problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While driving 75 mph on a windy day, the contact heard a rattling noise. The noise intensified to a thumping sound and the contact pulled off the road. He discovered that the rear spoiler was hanging from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the hooks failed and the spoiler could not be defective. The current mileage is 12,780 and failure mileage was 12,400.

4 Structure problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2006

2006 Honda Odyssey. Air conditioning condenser damaged by road debris and required replacing the condenser. Dealer stated damage was caused by road hazard/debris and so was not covered by warranty. The condenser is very exposed on front bottom of vehicle with no protection from flying debris. Similar event has occurred to many owners of 2006 Odysseys. Honda should be held liable/responsible to provide a product to protect the condenser on this model. The 2008 Odyssey comes with a grill covering the condenser. So it is obvious they are aware of the old bad design.
