Power steering pump is failing to provide assistance at low engine speeds every time the vehicle is operated (not intermittent). Condition makes it difficult and slow to manuever the vehicle during parking lot type maneuvers. The first time I experienced the condition was while parallel parking in the city during a time of heavy traffic. Note: power steering reservoir was replaced under warranty after one year of ownership due to air ingestion problem. Vehicle is a one owner and I can confirm that only Honda power steering fluid has ever been used.
When driving at low speeds(under 10 mph) power steering fails. Very difficult to maneuver in and out of parking spaces. Took car to mechanic, had to have power steering pump replaced. Mileage 51000. Called Honda dealer, was told Honda is aware this is a weakness.
The filter in power steering fluid reservoir clogged. This caused the power steering fluid to aerate. The service technician stated that the aerated fluid will cause the power steering pump to fail, losing power steering.
Power steering pump failing on 2007 Honda odessey 50000 miles. Have done some internet research and apparently this is a wide spread problem with this model year.
