Assist problems of the 2018 Honda Odyssey - part 1

On 7/28/26, my 2018 Honda Odyssey began displaying the following warning lights and system messages on the dash: •adaptive cruise control (acc) system error •lane keeping assist system (lkas) error •auto high beam system error •collision mitigation braking system / forward collision error these errors were present before I replaced the 12v battery. I had the battery tested at that time and it failed a load test, so I replaced it, expecting the adas-related errors to resolve. After the battery replacement, the original errors remained, and additional warning lights appeared, including a transmission system problem indicator and a brake system warning light. I disconnected the negative battery terminal for approximately 10 minutes in an attempt to reset the modules, then reconnected it. After reconnection and a period of idling, further warning lights appeared that had not been present immediately after the battery swap. I have not been in a collision, and there was no impact to the windshield, front bumper, or brake components at any point during this period. The vehicle’s brake pedal feel has remained normal. Because these errors were present before the battery was replaced, the battery does not appear to be the root cause, and the underlying issue affecting the acc, lkas, auto high beam, and collision mitigation systems remains unresolved. I have seen reports from other Honda owners describing similar cascading adas and system warning lights on comparable Honda models.

Failure of the forward-looking multipurpose camera after a simple battery change. Many safety features are now inoperative including emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, among others. Ultimately, a routine maintenance item (battery replacement) is causing the failure of vehicle safety systems.

The multipurpose camera has failed. I went online saw tons of people with same issues happening right after the warranty period. Even with extended warranty they dont want to help .

My 2018 Honda Odyssey ex-l has an ongoing Honda sensing failure. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and forward collision warning cannot be activated using their controls. No dashboard warning lights or error messages are displayed. Honda of lake jackson stated that it could not perform further diagnostics. These driver-assistance and safety features remain unavailable during normal vehicle operation. I am reporting the problem because multiple Honda sensing functions cannot be turned on or used.

Safety features disabled after battery change. Warning lights not cleared after driving the car as they should. Front mounted safety camera does not function properly and this is critical for safety. Multiple people have reported the same thing [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Lights are going off like crazy, ran the code and says it needs a recalibration. Nothing happened to have warrant this.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey with just under 59,000 miles is showing the following warnings: - acc - adaptive cruise control problem - collision mitigation system problem - auto high-beam problem - road departure mitigation system problem - lane keep assist problem. Using a code scanner, the ecu reports error u3000-49, which seems related to the multi-purpose camera unit used for all these functions. Given that this camera is used in the various safety features listed above, the current condition presents an unsafe condition for my vehicle, which has less than 59,000 miles of being driven.

When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of lane keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "brake system" light remained on in the amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk.

Paid $210 for Honda to run a diagnostic to tell me my multi purpose camera has a failure. This has caused 11 error lights to be displayed.

Upon further investigation, lots of 2018 Honda Odysseys are experiencing the same problem I am. There is a leak coming in from the top of the van in the rear that causes water to leak through and overtime damages the control unit in the back. Damage to this causes my power lift gate to completely stop working, my passenger drive door to stop working, and a bunch of features like the front collision warning, the lane departure, sensors, fog lights, so on to fail and go on and off. I had problems here and there with it but it wasn’t until it rained 4 days straight that I made the connection with the leak and started trying to figure out the problem. I took it to the Honda dealership to get diagnosed and they confirmed this problem. We have not been in any accidents to cause body damage to the vehicle.

Every time I park the car outside in the sun these components fail and it starts working once the car is left to cool in shade … this happens even in milder temperature mid 60 to 70 deg f.

Camera projector fail and 6 warning ?? lights came on, very common issue.

Since November 2025, multiple safety warning lights have illuminated upon starting the vehicle, indicating malfunctions within the forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist systems. Two separate dealerships, reseda Honda and woodland hills Honda, conducted independent diagnostic tests. Both service centers confirmed the root cause is an internal failure of the front multipurpose camera. Consequently, the vehicle has lost critical active safety features, leaving the occupants unprotected and significantly compromising the vehicle's safety on the road.

5 major safety systems are automatically disabled and on further troubleshooting by the dealer, all these issues are pointing to a faulty front collision avoidance camera. The cost to replace and recalibrate the camera is upwards of $2400. This is absolutely ridiculous and seems like a safety recall issue.

The sensor/computer/camera on the windshield overheats and causes it to fail mines at 100,000 and its a $1600 repair dealer said because the windshield sits in sun while driving etc and the sensor overheats and melts the inside of the computer soldering. Unacceptable so much for my safety features all gone I dont have the money to replace.

The adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane keep assist and other safety features have stopped working as indicated by errors displayed on dashboard. Suspect front camera is malfunctioning but has not been confirmed by independent service center. At first, this seemed to be an intermittent issue, but now the error messages appear every time the car is used.

The monocular camera behind the front windshield has failed resulting in all safety functions related to it (adaptive cruise, lane assist, blind spot, etc. ) failing to work.

The multipurpose camera failed bring down all driver assistance functionality including lane keep assist, emergency brake, auto high beam, parking sensors, cruise control, etc. Fix is outrageously high $2500+. Internet search finds this to be a very common issue and deserves a recall.

The forward facing camera that controls the adas system has failed leaving all of the adas system disabled while we drive. This all came after a certified windshield replacement by safelite where they reinstalled it and calibrated it (according to them) but failed after their short warranty period. Unfortunately simply replacing the part is not an option as it requires calibration and special tools to get the vehicle to accept it, all while being charged by Honda an arm & leg to get.

Suddenly the van gave me 5 different warnings as below. 1. Adaptive cruise control problem. 2. Lane keep asist problem 3. Collision mitigation system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Auto high-beam problem on top of these, 'brake system' light also turned on.

I have an intermittent set of warnings on Honda Odyssey 2018 "lane keeping assist problem" "adaptive cruise control problem" "collision mitigation system problem" "road departure mitigation system problem" all at the same time will appear on the dashboard. I had brought it up to the dealership when under warranty and they were unable to resolve it. It comes and goes at random.

Vehicle is indicating all sensing system not working such as lane keeping assist system, collision mitigation braking system, road departure warning system, adaptive cruise control and others. Honda installed a cheap product on this vehicle when it was originally manufactured and is double dipping by selling us in a 7 year period another set of the same cheap product . Dealer is quoting me $3,139. 80 to replace a radar and a camera both at the same time.

Driving on the freeway my lane keeping assistance, automatic emergency breaking, and adaptive cruise control warnings were flashing. The prompts keep my focus off the road as the beeps and flashing orange lights cannot be disabled. During my drive, the multicamera on the windshield seems to be malfunctions and often I would get a signal of on coming traffic and my steering wheel would vibrate to prompt me to move. This can be extremely terrifying and sometimes caused me to swerve, potentially hitting other cars. The multicamera needs to be recalled and fixed.

The windshield monocular camera is completely non functional causing several dashboard errors to appear. It very disheartening as this is such a known issue within the Honda Odyssey community and very expensive to replace and get calibrated after replacement. This should be recalled since so many are having this issue. Clearly this is a fault of Honda. It seems that the camera can get too hot being in the windshield and just doesn't work. A big reason why I wanted this vehicle was because of these sensors. Now I can't use them.

2018 Odyssey elite with 43k miles. Apparently, the front facing camera failed and if the camera fails -- which seems to have been reported by many other owners -- it's about a $1700 fix from a dealer. Not only should the camera not fail, but this is happening to cars that are low miles, low use, and the failure affects all camera-related safety features of the vehicle: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, parking collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Front facing camera malfunctioning, and it is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction causing 5 different warning lights to show up on dashboard. Including 1. ) auto high beam problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigation problem. The issue has been confirmed by the dealer. There were no warning lights prior to the random malfunction. I have not had wind shield replaced (which I have read could mean a calibration of the camera issue), nor has there been any accidents taken place. My safety is at risk as I am unable to use these features while driving unless the front camera is replaced.

The Honda sense front facing camera has went out on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. The camera is currently still installed in my van and if it is necessary to replace to keep it from draining the battery I will request that the faulty part be provided to me. This camera being faulty causes the loss of cruise control, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, lane keep assist and emergency breaking. This issue is also causing a drain on the battery, which impacts other items due to low voltage. My van is currently at the dealership and I am being told that I will have to purchase a new camera which will be around $1500. The following lights are on; breaks, acc and lkas. These items first appeared within a few weeks of having the rear camera recall completed. Based on my research this is a common problem and just like the rear camera recall, Honda should have to replace this camera as well. The date provided is the date it was officially diagnosed by Honda, the lights appeared in 10/2024 and all of the functions were lost around that time.

Multipurpose front camera controlling multiple vehicle safety features had internal failure. Dealer required replacement of camera and calibration. Multiple warning lights came on dashboard to alert of issue. Faulty camera was diagnosed by Honda dealer and is with dealer currently.

Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warnin, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance lights came on and won't go away. Sometime the car won't reverse when put in reverse.

Driving vehicle on the road, the suite of driver assistance system suddenly failed including lkas, front collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure as well as brake system light. I took the car to the dealership which indicated the front camera had catastrophically failed. This issue seems to be a recurring issue in all models of Odyssey minivans. The issue seems to appear for recent and older vans and is well documented in online forums. It should be a safety recall from Honda compared to other recalls on same vehicle.

Started my car and got all these warning lights acc problem, collision mitigation problem, lake keep assist problem, auto high beam problem. From reading forums online this is a common issue for Honda Odysseys 2018-2023. The camera is faulty. This should have a recall.

They ran the diagnostics and stated that the fault was "internal electronic failure of multipurpose camera unit/internal failure of multipurpose camera". We had to replace the multipurpose camera and have the new one re-calibrated.

Vehicle started to display acc problem, lkas problem, trnsmission system problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto lights problem and blind spot info system problem recently around September 19,2024 and disabled all the safety features mentioned on the vehicle while it is in motion. This is a huge safety issue and could cause severe problem for many drivers and passengers in case of serious accidents which could be avoided if those systems are functioning properly. Upon researching the issue, this is very common problem for many of similar vehicles and it seems to be related to the monocular camera on the windshield. I strongly urge for quick investigation on this matter and have Honda motors to do a recall for replacing faulty camera as it could impact many lives.
