The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rear drivers side sliding door failed to latch securely. The contact stated that when the driver’s side sliding door was closing, the contact heard a whining sound. In addition, the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 141,565.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon opening the electronic tailgate and entering the trunk of the vehicle, an alert sounded, indicating that the tailgate was closing. After closing the tailgate, the tailgate suddenly jerked open, striking the contact. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 172,000.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon opening the driver side sliding door, the cable inside the door snapped which rendered the door inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 20v437000(latches/locks/linkage) which she linked to her failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that her vehicle was not under recall or warranty. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000 .

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while the contact pressed the button to automatically close both rear sliding doors on drive and passenger side, the doors stop halfway and would not shut close. The contact had to push the doors manually for them to shut close. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and NHTSA campaign number: 20v437000 (latches/locks/linkages) was performed but the failure continued. The dealer was contacted that stated there was nothing that could be done because NHTSA campaign number: 20v437000 (latches/locks/linkages) was already performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be taken to the dealer. The failure mileage was 33,000.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was restarted and immediately driven to the local dealer (sheehy Honda, 7434 richmond hwy, alexandria, va). The vehicle was examined, but no failure was found. Approximately nine months later, the failure recurred. While backing out of the driveway, the vehicle suddenly jerked and abruptly stopped when the transmission erroneously switched from reverse to the park position. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side sliding door was faulty. The door unlatched while driving and the vehicle automatically shut off. A software update was performed to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 80.
