The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked inside the garage, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact discovered that the rear hatch door had opened unintendedly and was continuously striking the garage door. After closing the hatch door, the door failed to reopen electronically or manually from the outside. The contact's spouse crawled into the rear trunk area to open the hatch door using the internal emergency release. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,756.
