There are mutiple errors shown and the features disabled. Looks like the front camera is defective and is being reported by many people.
10/4/2023 (55k miles), the vehicle suddenly lost power at interstate speed and dropped to three cylinders. Warning lights came on disabling all automatic safety systems. I took the vehicle to a parts store and obd indicated an oil pressure sensor in vtec bank 1. After restarting the vehicle I once again had all 6 cylinders, but all safety systems failures were still indicated on the dash. I replaced the battery (5. 5 years old) and all systems returned to normal. After a the pgm-fi update for idle stop issues (recall) was performed at the dealer on 1/31/2024, two days later (2/2/2024) the previous event recurred resulting in severe loss of power and all safety systems indicating failure. I replaced the 4 month old battery under warranty believing the battery had failed prematurely. The problem did not resolve after replacing the battery and multiple restarts. I returned the car to the dealer service center on 2/3/2024 running on three cylinders and then suddenly 6 again after a restart part way there. Dealer diagnosed issue as intermittent fault p2652 rocker arm oil pressure switch b (bank 1) and replaced it at my cost but did not charge diagnoses. Operation returned to normal. ***I have driven Honda vehicles for 25 years with very few issues. Something is seriously wrong in their ecu program/electrical system that causes vehicle to suddenly lose power and safety systems due to an intermittent oil pressure sensor fault. I am a mechanical engineer with more than 18 years working in mechanical and electrical aerospace systems. Honda needs to identify the root cause of this failure mode and issue yet another recall to address the systemic hardware and software issues. Both times this occurred, I had 4 young kids in the car and could not maintain safe interstate speed or accelerate to get on the highway.
Multiple error lights come on at various times, including but not limited to road departure mitigation warning, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problems, brake hold system problem, power steering system problem. Upon first dealer inspection no problem was identified. On follow up after ongoing recurrence of the issue, dealer found multi purpose camera internal fault along with recalled fuel injector repair requirement. Estimated 2,000 to fix mp camera.
The camera on the Honda van seems to act up when either its hot outside or cold outside. Due to this, the car will show these codes, (lkas, acc, collision avoidance, auto high beam problem). Due to the camera having these isues, the collision avoidance puts myself and family at risk.
Tailgate controller issue. 2018 Honda Odyssey: a day after a day of rain, we went out shopping and stopped at a store. Getting out , we saw "tailgate controller problem" message appear on the dashboard. I tried to open/close the tailgate but it just kept latching and unlatching. I was finally able to get it to remain closed by pushing on the tailgate. After heading to another store, saw a "high-beam problem" message, and another message, so we went home. At night, I noticed the interior ceiling lights going on and off. I went to start the van, and my key fob would not unlock the door. I used the emergency key in the fob and tried opening the drivers door. . . After 45 seconds of turning left and turning right, the windows rolled down about an inch, then the door unlocked. I started the van and moved it up in the driveway and turned it off, and checked a couple of times all night to see if the lights came back on. The next morning, I had to charge the battery because it was at 3vs. I drove the van to make sure the alternator was working, and then saw messages: blinking "r" for reverse blinking "d" and no turn signals, and messages appeared: "transmission problem". "keyless start system problem","blind spot info system problem". We dropped the van off at the dealer and it would not lock with the fob, and the center dashboard console (with the navigation menu)remained on with the engine off and door closed. Dealer ordered a tailgate controller. When we asked the person at the desk, what the issue was. . . "moisture got in". I told him there is a discussion on the internet about a (design) leak in the roof causing this issue. He said, the controller is in the tailgate not in the van. But I know its on the side panel. This situation is very dangerous because a week before we had traveled with the van,out of state, on the interstate, trying to get people to airports and if these messages had appeared then, we would have had a very harrowing experience. A message is still seen.
I was driving and all of the sudden the vehicle slowly started losing power. A bunch of lights popped up on the dash and it turns out it was the camshaft and the sensor. The camshaft had been rubbing on the sensor for quite some time causing the engine to malfunction.
When driving the vehicle on September 8, 2023 lkas (lane keeping assist problem), collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem, auto high beam problem and acc (adaptive cruise control problem) came on. Pulled over and restarted the car and all warning lights remain. Transmission system problem error is now appearing with the letters blinking on the display. Turn the car off and back on until transmission problem error goes away. Vehicle going in for diagnostics early October.
Front windshield camera failure (confirmed by local Honda dealership). No known cause and no prior warnings/messages. All warning messages popped up suddenly after the car was parked for the workday. The following functions were disabled by this failure: automatic emergency breaking, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, cruise control, etc. Part to replace is "on national backorder with no known eta".
All the warning lights came on, including brakes, power steering, lane keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and others, indicating the car should be stopped immediately regardless of traffic or conditions. I do not know if the functions were also impaired or if was simply false alarms. I understand this is typical of this auromobile.
2018 Honda Odyssey - 120,738 miles at time of occurrence premature failure of the monocular camera (Honda part number 36160-thr-a04). This impacted adaptive cruise control, automatic breaking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assistance and automatic high beams. This part failed very suddenly when I was on a major highway. No warning lamps prior to failure we kept the part for inspection. The problem was confirmed by a Honda dealer and the part was replaced at my expense ($1,335. 88). Reported to american Honda who told me this was no longer under warranty. When I tried to find the part myself, it was on a long back order and I was told by many other dealers that this is a common failure.
Vehicle dash showed the following problems when parked in front of store at full stop: brake system problem, emission system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, hill start assist problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, power steering system (eps) problem, brake hold system problem. Upon driving the vehicle to get home the vehicle would not accelerate above 40 mph. (your system will not allow me to upload pictures in jpg format).
Driving on i26 traveling east into charleston, SC in second from the left lane, driving at approximately 60 mph during busy rush hour. Suddenly, a large SUV in the next lane to my left veered into my lane. I turned the wheel sharply to the right to avoid a collision, also similtaneously braking just enough to avoid a collision. I had moved approximately 1/2 a lane to the right. I turned the wheel to the left to come back into my lane. The vehicle suddenly began veering to the right and left as I was fighting to keep it under control. In the next 10-15 seconds, the van veered alternatively right and left about 5 times each until it stabilized. I was using all of my strength to keep the vehicle from taking off across lanes of traffic. I called Honda north America and was essentially dismissed as I was told to just turn off my lane mitigation system, with no explanation or apparant care about what I had gone through. I went to my local Honda dealer and explained what had happened. The service manager was concerned and told me he would get back to me. That was over a month ago and I have received no information from them. I do not know if this problem will repeat itself, or if it has ever been reported. I am quite concerned because this situation could have caused a devastation injury or fatility to my family and others.
Camera/Honda sensing failure (u3000-49 code), causing loss of safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, collision mitigation.
