My 2004 Honda odyessy aoutomatic power sliding door opened while driving onthe highway going 55 mph. It also opened while driving 35 mph. It opens on its own whenever it wants and will not close or lock completely. I have contacted Honda corp and they state that I have to pay the $100's or more to get diagnosed. I feel it is a safety issue!! and should be fixed for free. An automatic door that opens on its own is a safety issue. I have contacted the dealership I bought it from and they state I should pay for it as well. I am not the only owner with the same issue. A kid could fall out when the door opens or if I get in an accident and that door opens the person sitting there would be dead!!! I have video taped it opening while driving!.

Our 2007 Honda odessey was working perfectly until yesterday when the hatch shut on me. It knocked me out for a minute. I don't know what happened that it just stopped working but it just missed our new puppy who was in my arms at the time.
Sliding doors don't open/close as they should trapping people inside.
While driving on the highway my passenger side power door kept opening and closing on its own. I tried to manually shut it and it still will not completely shut. The same happens with the driver side power door.
Left and right sliding doors do not properly latch to close door completely. Doors open while driving when navigating a turn or going uphill then close when coming to a stop or going downhill. Unsecured objects inlcuding humans can be thrown from vehicle or crushed resulting in injury or death.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the sliding doors on the right and left of the vehicle failed. The safety mechanism failed to keep the doors in the open position after it was unlocked. The doors failed continuously when it was cold and ice formed on the vehicle causing the door latches to remain unlocked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated there was no failure since it only occurred during frigid temperatures. A representative with the manufacturer inspected the vehicle and found no failures within the doors. The representative also added lubrication to the doors. The failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 12,800.

Sliding rear doors fail to open or close. One must remove fuse #13 to reset the door. In the even of an accident or emergency, passengers sitting in the re rear seats could be trapped in the vehicule. Dealer repair quotes are in the $400 - $600 range. But the removal of a fuse resets the doors. Something is not right here. This happens several times a year and has been happening for the last 5 years.
2006 Honda Odyssey automatic sliding (right) door partially opens then jams causing passengers to be trap in the vehicle. The door has to be cycled several times before it will open. Service tech stated this is a known issue. I believe this problem is a severe safety issue.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Odyssey. Upon parking the vehicle he was unable to unlock any of the doors. The anti theft system began to sound after repeated attempts to exit the vehicle. The incident was reported to the police who informed him to move the key back and forth inside of the ignition which allowed the doors to unlock and the contact to exit the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure and the computer system was reset. The failure and current mileages were 5,120. Updated 01/14/lj.
The driver side electric sliding door will not close all the way.
2010 Honda Odyssey now has 19,000 miles on it. Purchased in April, 2010. At least four separate times since purchase in various types of weather (cold, hot, mild, wet, snow) the front passenger has been unable to exit the vehicle due to the door latch not disengaging. The button was pushed to unlock. The door locks appeared to unlock (the stem went up). However, the door was still locked. After trying various things like reinserting the key, turning on/off the engine, activating the unlock feature on the keyless entry button, the door finally would unlock and open. As a side note, when exiting the van I always receive a slight static shock.
Without any warning the engine light and the tcs light came on in my van, I was told by the dealer just from that information "OH you need a new transmission" I had Honda perform all required servicing on the vehicle as defined yet it still failed. Also my van has the same ignition issue (key can be removed without the vehicle in park) that Honda recalled cars for, yet when I contacted my dealer he said it's not part of the recall so they would not fix it. I guess it's unsafe in a car but safe in a van.
1. No known events leading to failure. 2. Sliding doors fail to open/close. It has occurred several times. Consequences include failure to exit the vehicle in an emergency 3. Taken to dealer several times and parts replaced and failure occurs again.
You can remove the ignition key from the ignition switch when the vehicle is in gears other than p (park).
2008 Honda Odyssey rear tailgate struts failed and the rear door free falls shut. The car is only 28 months old.
My 2003 Honda Odyssey keys haven't been able to open my driver's side door for almost a year. A few weeks ago I started having the same problems with my ignition. It's getting harder every day and taking more time to trick my key into the ignition lock. If I don't wiggle it in perfectly it will get stuck half way in and I have to trick it back out of the lock. I have an appointment at the Honda dealership tomorrow to fix whatever the problem is but he said to plan on at least $500 for new cylinders and/or ignition, plus possibly new keys. I'm really frustrated with this because it looks like so many people are having this problem so it must be a defect.
My 2006 Honda Odyssey's electrical system completely died. I had two dog crates in the back of the minivan with dogs in them. The doors had been locked prior to the failure occurring. Once the electrical system died, I had no way to open the tailgate in order to get the dogs out of the car. I was unable to reach the emergency release because it was blocked by the dog crates. There is no outside key access for the tailgate nor a manual release in the driver's compartment.
The driver side rear sliding door on my 2005 Honda Odyssey opened while I was driving down the road at 55 mph. If this is not a safety issue, I don't know what is!!!!!!.
There were no events or issues leading up to the event. While traveling at a speed of approx 35 mph the latch on the slider door (driver's side) became disengaged and the slider door opened. The door was properly closed and and locked. The slider failed to close after that. Put the vehicle in for replacement of latch.
2005 Honda Odyssey liftgate struts failed. Opened the rear liftgate to remove something from the trunk and the liftgate did not stay up. Now everytime I try and open the liftgate, I would need to open with one hand and remove items or put items inside with the other hand.
Automatic sliding doors do not operate correctly. The passenger side power sliding door closes but not quite all the way, it will not "engage", or "catch". Therefore, the van thinks the door is still open (open door light is on, buzzes continually when put into gear, and interior lights stay on). However, the power sliding door indicator light is not on, so the van thinks the door is fine, but still open. I have to get out, walk around, and physically bump the rear of the door the final centimeter or so to get it flush. For some reason the back lock part isn't "catching. " this occurs almost every time the door is shut. This is a danger for any children riding in the car if the door is not engaged. Fuse #13 has been taken out so doors were reset and everything cleaned and oiled.
2009 Honda Odyssey. Rear hatch door in back will slam shut without any warning or being closed. No wind or external force caused it to slam shut very fast. Thank goodness there was no one under the hatch door when it happened. Also, rear hatch door sometimes will not stay up without being propped up to avoid from closing.
