2006 Honda Odyssey. Sliding door has been stiff intermittently (which we lubricated) and on a few occasions door would not close until warmed up in garage. On June 5th, 2010 husband opened door and door fell completely off track and would have landed on ground if he had not caught it. Contacted Honda canada told hadn't heard of problem. 15 minute internet search reveals 10 others with same year and model who have suffered same incident. Took it to dealer will replace the roller/hinge which broke- approx $230. 00 to fix (not covered under extended warranty). Huge safety concern that this part can break and let car door fall down-imagine it had been on one of my kids aged 5 and 6.

My 2006 Honda Odyssey. The passenger side electric sliding door fell off of the hinge. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the door was not covered under the warranty and told me that I was responsible for the repair cost. The Honda manufacturer has not been contacted. The failure mileage was 48,000. The drive side squeaks, creaks, rattles, and clunks it sounds like it is also get ready to fall off.
Left (driver's side) sliding door on Honda Odyssey will not close or lock. Had to drive to the dealer with the door constantly opening and my children inside the car. My friend sat on the back seat to try to keep the door closed. I do think this is a safety issue since this happened out of the blue without any warning at all. The dealer said that "Honda does not see it as a safety issue". I see the door property closing as a safety issue since it is a family car with children involved. I see it as a safety issue just like I see seat belts as a safety issue. I think there is something wrong with this problem, it is unsafe.

I would like to report a safety issue with the Honda Odyssey minivan. The metal hinges on the driver and passenger door do a terrible job at keeping the doors open. I make sure that the door is in the detente position. It doesn't matter. A slight gust of wind or if the car is on an incline, the doors will slam shut on their own. Itt smashed & broke a bone in my left hand. It slammed close on my shins before that many times. I am frightened for fear of severe injury to some body part being slammed into the door of guests and being sued. I make a point to have my whole body leaning on the door if it needs to stay open for some purpose now. This is really a safety issue for the whole family. I know other owners have the same experience. I have never driven another car that I was afraid the front door would slam shut on me - without warning - before this. I am the owner of a 2003 Honda Odyssey. I have been having trouble with the ignition switch. I am able to remove the key without the van being placed in park. I do not have to struggle the least amount to get the key to come out; it slips right out of the ignition whether the van is in park or in gear without hesitation. This has occurred accidentally on a few occasions only to be realized when I return to my vehicle. After the first incident, I tried to duplicate it with knowledge and sure enough, the key came right out while the van was still in driving gear.

2006 Honda Odyssey 36k miles. The rear drivers side door no longer latches closed in the back when it closes. This is a grave safety issue.
The driver side power door on my 2003 Honda Odyssey will not close all the way. It opens as I drive down the road. It is the rear latch system on the drivers side power sliding door. This is the same issue that the 1999's were having and they were recalled. This issue is extremely dangerous and in my opinion needs to be fixed ASAP.
On August 16, 2010 at 3:12pm, I received email stating: "after inspection the tire it is not on the recall list. " message was sent to mfr. On may 8, 2010: to customer service; I purchased 98t futura 2000 lte part number 8694568 2156516 and when I was on i95, I had to exit to go to the nearest dealer of tires (hoping to avoid a towing bill) being firestone tire place just off of i95 at the palm beach lakes blvd. Area in palm beach county, florida. Your tire acted like a flat tire would being on a major highway. Your tire was looking very wavy and when taken off the vehicle looked like a partial twisted pretzel. I got my vehicle re-aligned, as well as, purchased a new firestone tire! replacing tire with approx. Less than 30 days from your tire purchase. I was going out-of-town to my dad's home, a trip approx. 100 miles away one way when this happened in route. I kept the tire and at the time I thought it was an isolated defective tire and was going to write to the manufacturer for remedy. I'm just discovering that there is a recall on this particular tire and expect to be compensated for! truly yours, [xxx] and please send any mailings [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. Ignition lock failure. In 2007, our driver's side door lock ceased working, but we've worked around it. Now the ignition lock stopped working. "wear and tear" according to the dealer. This is the second incident like this on NHTSA's site.
When I opened the rear power liftgate, it got almost completely open and then unexpectedly closed while making a beeping sound. It would have closed on my head if I didn't jump out of the way fast enough. I tried it again using the remote again and then w/ the liftgate button on the dashboard and it continues to malfunction.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While the vehicle was parked the contact stated that the drivers side automatic sliding door would not close when the button engaged to close the door. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The failure also occurred on the passengers side sliding door which would not close when the button was engaged. An appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the passenger side sliding door opened while the vehicle was in motion. The contact stated that they have had problems getting both sliding doors to lock properly before the passenger door opened while they were driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer replaced both roller assemblies. The contact stated that the passenger door had not popped open but that both doors were still hard to lock. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While the contact was attempting to enter her vehicle she noticed that the front driver side door would not unlock. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and has not been serviced for the failure. The current and failure mileages were 35200.
The driver's side rear door did not latch completely causing the door to partially slide open while driving. To correct the problem the rear latch assembly was replaced. I have the defective part.
The sliding door of my Odyssey (touring) model will not close all the way. Similar to another complaint, the door gets close to being closed, but will not close either electronically or manually. The van is able to be driven with the sliding door open. This first happen at only 29k miles and continued to happen periodically until I took it to a Honda dealership who could fix the problem. The service person at the dealership (that was able to fix it) showed me that it was a design flaw of the "center roller" for the sliding door. This is a part located at the rear of the door attaching it to the van's body. There are two plastic round parts that act like ball bearing rollers, and they become out of place causing the door's alignment to be off. When this happens the door not to close all the way. The dealership service person said if Honda spent $8 more on making these round parts metal instead of plastic, the problem would not have occurred. The rest of the center roller part is made of metal. He said that one Odyssey a week comes to the dealership with this problem of the door not being able to close due to the center roller.
The rear hatch of my 2007 Honda Odyssey touring van suddenly fell on my 13 year old daughter as she was leaning into the cargo area of the van. The it appears that the struts designed to hold the door opened failed. The door weighs at least 50 pounds.
Just getting old, maybe the motor is getting weak, but the automatic doors on my 2003 Honda Odyssey have stopped latching completely. We have kids in the van, and it is a real safety issue, and from what I've read trying to fix this problem, it seems to me like this is very frequent problem worthy of a recall before something terrible happens.
Manual sliding doors broke. Both manual sliding doors broke within one month of each other. Cables apparently snapped which prevented the doors from being opened from the inside or outside. Had to have cables on both doors replaced. An expensive safety defect.
2001 Honda Odyssey:
the sliding side doors intermittently stick shut for no apparent reason, and they will not open until they decide to cooperate. This, to my mind, is a very serious safety concern as people in the vehicle would not be able to exit, and emt personnel would be greatly hindered in extracting victims of a crash. This condition can and does obtain for days at a time until, suddenly and for no apparent reason, the doors will start to operate normally.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that when depressing the lock for the rear sliding doors, the door would not shut completely. When using the manual lock, she could not determine if the doors were fully closed. The failure was previously diagnosed by the dealer, the door fuses and motor were replaced. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer nor was the manufacturer contacted. The VIN was not available when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was unknown.
The power sliding door on the driver side does not open and close. The "sliding door light" is illuminated. The passenger side sliding door works fine. (the passenger side power sliding door closes but not quite all the way, it will not "engage", or "catch". Therefore, the van thinks the door is still open (open door light is on, buzzes continually when put into gear, and interior lights stay on).
Vehicle is a 2005 Honda Odyssey ex with 89k miles. The passenger-side front power door lock failed, and also prevented the door lock from being manually unlocked. This was first noticed on December 13, 2009. There is no damage to the door, either externally or internally. The power door lock control button works correctly to open the other doors. A passenger sitting in this seat cannot open the door, and it cannot be opened from the outside -- it remained locked. I reported this to the local dealership where the vehicle was purchased, and it was stated this type of failure has never occurred before. I obtained a repair quote of approximately $200, assuming the lock actuator was at fault. I then brought the vehicle to an independent repair shop on Dec. 23, 2009; the interior door panel was removed, and it was confirmed the lock actuator had failed. The part (p/n 72115-s6a-j01) had to be ordered, and the faulty component was replaced on Jan. 4, 2010. Total cost from the independent repair shop was $120. 96. I have retained the failed component.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that left side sliding door and the right front passenger door failed to unlock intermittently. She had to climb over to the other side or turn off the vehicle and restart it to get out the vehicle. Additionally, she noticed repeated problems with the steering; the vehicle would not hold an alignment and would drift to the side. Also, periodically, there was a grinding noise when she attempted to stop, as if she were driving on gravel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership several times where the tires were rotated and alignment was performed regarding the suspension problem. The dealer also installed a seal on the door but the failure continued. In reference to the brake problem, the dealer could not duplicate the failure but did attempt repairs which did not remedy the problem. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they could not assist her. Current mileage was approximately 36,950. The failure mileage was approximately 20,500.
We have a 2001 Honda Odyssey lx. The power sliding door on the passenger side suddenly quit working and will no longer close properly. The only way we have been able to continue driving the car without the incessant alarm is to shut off the power sliding door function and try to keep it shut. There are several potentially big problems with this. Number one - the kids cannot open the door manually, it is too heavy for them. The only option they have to exit the car is on the traffic side of the vehicle. The door will suddenly become ajar when we are driving, even with the locks closed, which is also a huge safety factor. I have tried to get this problem fixed professionally numerous times and I cannot get a satisfactory answer to what the problem is. I cannot sell this car in good conscience with an issue like this.
The passenger side sliding door will not stay closed. The problem started with a few failures to close completely but eventually it did close properly. Honda service said it required a new motor (cost $600 cdn), but managed to close the door manually and showed us how to shut off the "beeping". We have avoided using that door, but this weekend a friend opened it and we could not shut it properly. We had a 6-hour drive home from the cottage. Several times on the way home the door slid open when making a turn. I managed (from the front seat) to pull the door back to almost closed. We have now taken it back to Honda -- the cost to fix will be about $600. For safety reasons, there should be a manual override to keep the doors closed.

I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey ex-l, I am the original owner. For approx 1. 5 years the left sliding passenger door has been inoperable. For the first approx. 2 months the door would not latch properly without manually slamming or bumping it shut several times. Then, it froze, and would not open. Since I have small children, I was fine with it staying shut. Suddenly, last month (Aug 7), the door popped open while I was driving with my 6 year old in the seat by the door. Thankfully, we were not on the freeway at the time & I was able to pull over. After playing with the door for several minutes, I was able to secure it and return home. The door is now frozen again. At this point, I am afraid to transport my 3 kids in this car. Honda does not seem to consider this a safety issue. We cannot get this repaired under warranty as it has expired and is not under a recall.

Electric back doors are inconsistent with either not opening/shutting all the way. Sometimes will not open at all. Not safe with children/persons in backseats for emergency situations. Honda repaired once when under certified warranty. Has happened several times after. Vehicle not under warranty and Honda dealer is charging astronomical amount to repair. Saying there could be electrical shorts and possible danger. Hope something can be done to help all of us, according to online info, several hundred similar complaints exist.

Rear sliding door rear door latch will not latch when door pulled in allowing rear of door to remain unlatched. Pulls in but then releases again allowing rear of door to stick out, indicating light for door open to stay on and interior lights stay on. Buzzer for sliding door activates as soon as vehicle placed in gear. Can pull the rear of the door open from outside the vehicles.
My 2000 Honda Odyssey automatic doors don't work. I don't trust them because it could trap my young daughter plus when they fail to close all the way seems dangerous. I know that so many people are having the same problem. Why don't you people do something about this?.
