Four problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Honda Passport. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Passport. He stated that upon starting the ignition in the driveway, the vehicle suddenly and abnormally accelerated and crashed through the garage door. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was notified. There were no injuries. The contact's insurance company was overseeing the repairs to the vehicle. This was not the first incident where the vehicle attempted to or accelerated without intent. Previously, the vehicle had been taken to the dealer on numerous occasions; however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The police arrived and a report was filed. The failure and current mileages were under 213,891.
With the brakes applied, there was a sudden power surge, gas pedal went to the floor and engine was racing. Consumer hit her son and landed in the garage. Manufacturer notified. Ts.
Engine races intermittently , car often surges when stopped in traffic one time on highway.
It surges intermittenly happened a few times before the accident in sept. The computer was reset problem happens occaisenly now . In Jan at my sate inspection appointment the dealer told me of a planned recall from Honda once they know the fix. Was supposed to happen in Jan . Told Honda about it on follow up survey after computer was reset. Have heard nothing from them.
