2023 Honda Passport trailsport rear a/c is blowing warm air and will not get cold. If rear ac is not blowing any cold air than it will be sure that front ac will follow, this should be a manufacturer defect recall because there are many same model with the exact same problem.

Over the past two weeks we have been experiencing issues with the auto idle stop device on my 2025 Honda Passport. This has resulted in being temporarily stalled at several busy intersections. I have reported this issue to a Honda dealership where the issue was verified and it is scheduled for a starter replacement when the part is received from back order.

My car has 22,000 miles in it, and maybe around 19,000 miles my starter was already weak. I barely use my car, and one time I used it and my car won't start at all. I almost got stranded. Luckily it turned on, and I was near my house. This could've happen in the middle of nowhere and get me stranded. I don't feel safe driving this now if im not sure. I thought this was supposed to be a reliable car!.
The starter motor on my 2022 Honda Passport failed, causing a complete 'no-restart' condition after entering auto idle-stop mode. The vehicle previously received the mandatory pgm-fi idle-stop software update under Honda service bulletin 23-008, proving that the software fix does not protect the hardware from failing. The dealership diagnosed a failed starter but stated that my 2022 model is excluded from the 10-year starter warranty extension under service bulletin 23-009, leaving me to pay out-of-pocket for a known defect. I am filing this to support the ongoing NHTSA engineering analysis regarding Honda auto idle-stop system failures, as the defect creates a dangerous stall risk at intersections.

My 2026 Honda Passport trailsport elite has twice applied its brakes on its own, with no obstacle, vehicle, or hazard in front of me to justify braking. On July 13, 2026, at approximately 5:36 p. M. , I was driving in evening traffic when the vehicle suddenly braked hard on its own. Nothing was in front of me. The car behind me nearly rear-ended me and had to brake sharply to avoid a collision, and the driver reacted with road rage. On July 16, 2026, at approximately 6:03 p. M. , my young son was in the vehicle with me. While I was driving in traffic, the vehicle again braked on its own with no obstacle ahead. A sedan behind me nearly rear-ended me. This sudden, uncommanded braking happens without warning while I am driving in traffic and has nearly caused a rear-end collision on both occasions. It is terrifying and I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle, especially with my child. The same vehicle also has ongoing electrical and drive-power failures (loss of power while driving, repeated stalling in reverse, and complete no-start events) that I have reported separately. Three dealerships have been unable to identify or correct the problems. No crash has occurred yet, but only because the drivers behind me reacted in time. The vehicle is available for inspection.
4th occurrence. Car fails to start. The instrument display reads: auto engine idle stop system problem. Electrical system including radio, a/c etc were working. (including the car alarm which begins honking the horn as soon as I open the door) repeated attempts to start the car failed to do anything except to annoy anyone within earshot as the horn kept honking! roadside assistance was not able to get the car started either so it was towed to the dealer. I've had the car into the Honda dealer for recalls but this problem has not been solved.

On July 11, 2026, while driving, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple system failures. The dashboard illuminated with numerous warning lights, including a flashing check engine light, indicating multiple system malfunctions. The vehicle was towed to the dealer due to the severity of the issue. It is currently at the dealership for inspection and diagnosis. I have not yet received a diagnosis or confirmation of the failed component(s) from the dealer. No warning lights, messages, or symptoms appeared prior to the sudden failure. The abrupt illumination of multiple warning lights while driving created a significant safety concern regarding the reliability of critical vehicle systems.
For several months before the failure, the auto idle stop (engine stop-start) system became progressively slower to restart the engine after stopping. Each restart sounded sluggish, as though the starter was dragging, and the vehicle would remain stopped for several extra seconds before moving. This occurred repeatedly at traffic lights and other stops creating a safety concern as drivers behind me expected my vehicle to begin moving when traffic started. The unexpected delay increased the risk of being rear-ended or causing confusion in traffic. The failure eventually became complete. While stopped on a two-lane road waiting for another vehicle to turn left into a driveway, the engine shut off as expected with the auto idle stop system engaged but did not restart when I released the brake. Instead, the vehicle entered what appeared to be a neutral state and could not be driven. I was unable to restart the vehicle for several minutes, leaving it disabled in the travel lane while other vehicles had to drive around it. This created a safety hazard because the vehicle was stranded in an active roadway. The vehicle had not previously displayed any warning messages related to this condition. Looking back, the progressively slower and dragging engine restarts appear to have been warning signs before the complete failure to restart. The vehicle is scheduled for inspection the Honda dealership this week. The failed components should be available for inspection if requested.
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Passport. The contact stated that on several occasions, the auto start/stop intermittently failed to operate and the vehicle shut off while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that a battery warning light was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact was forced to manually turn off the feature each time after starting the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact's husband discovered NHTSA action number: ea25004; and associated the failure with the action number. The husband also associated the failure with the fuel injector or a possible software update. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,800.
I drive the car with the engine-idle-at-stop function disengaged. Several times when slowing down, but still moving, the car shifts into park; the ac and radio remain on. I have to press engine start to start the engine. Several other times when already stopped, such as at a red light or in traffic, waiting to make a turn, the engine shuts off and the car shifts into park. I have to press the engine start button to turn the car back on. I am getting honked and hollered at in traffic, and could easily be vulnerable to being rear-ended when my moving car suddently turns off ad stops running (winds up in park). A non-dealer ran diagnostics and found no history of any error codes, and the system worked when they drove it. The day before the non-dealer had the car, it shut off 2 times in about 2 miles. He said the new battery is fine, the alternator is fine, and they do not know what to troubleshoot. No lights light up prior to the incidents, but they light up momentarily during it is the "charging system indicator" and the "malfunction indicator lamp" that light up. The new battery is one week old and installed as per the owner's manual and was checked by a 3rd party today. These events have occurred with both the original and new batteries. All of this has been over the past few months, with most incidents - an escalation - the past couple of weeks.
Got to red light, auto stop idled down car, when going to move car shut off and stalled out. Also happened two times in a drive thru. All times messages popped up auto stop interruption and vehicle in accessory mode.
While waiting at a stoplight, the car was in auto idle stop system mode. When the light turned green, I stepped on gas pedal and the vehicle shut off. The brake was hard and I could not turn off the vehicle for a minute. I opened the drivers side and passenger front door and closed, then was able to turn off vehicle. After a few seconds, I was able to start vehicle with push start button. The vehicle has sounded sluggish when starting up lately but battery tested good.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Passport. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle with the push-to-start feature, the adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation brake system, and lane keeping assist system, and the high beam messages were displayed on the instrument panel. An audible alarm sounded while the messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the multipurpose camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost, and because the parts were on back order. Upon further investigation, the contact stated that the windshield heat exposure might have caused the failure in the hotter weatehr. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,078.

Car tried to start on its own, set off the alarm multiple times and killed a new battery after 6 months. Would not allow me to enter car by remote had to unplug battery. Issue with start/stop idle system, it is know issue with Honda ridgeline but having same issue with Passport.
Our 2026 Honda Passport tse suddenly stalled twice in active traffic intersections in albuquerque, nm under acceleration and during a left turn, causing a sudden loss of motive power and a severe safety hazard and a potentially life threatening situation. Telemetry logs from an aftermarket gps device installed in my vehicle captured a catastrophic voltage drop down to 10. 886v during the incident, which electrically blinded the ecu and prevented the vehicle from storing a diagnostic trouble code. The vehicle was taken to garcia Honda in albuquerque, nm who documented the symptoms ('loss of power on accel,' 'hesitates and jerks') but released the vehicle unfixed because no digital codes were present. The vehicle is currently grounded as unsafe to drive. American Honda corporate case number: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Idle stop has failed to restart on more than once occasion. Battery tested low @ 25,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Passport . The vehicle auto start stop failed when at a traffic light. The vehicle was shut down and restarted and the vehicle was able to be driven again. In another occurrence, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at the stop light. After awhile, the vehicle was able to restart and drive without issues. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however the vehicle was diagnosed with having a starter failure and burned out relay. The parts were repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 38,100.
I own a 2022 Honda Passport . The vehicle auto idle-stop system has failed to restart at a traffic light. The vehicle shuts down and eventually restarts after several manual attempts and was able to be driven again. Typically, the vehicle stops in the middle of the road at the stop light and the engine shuts down. After a while, I was able to restart and drive without issues. In the meantime I am in a stalled vehicle in the middle of high speed traffic. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with having a starter failure and two burned out relays. I have never had a problem starting the vehicle when I begin a drive. The parts were repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 38,100. Failed parts were retained by the dealer.
My 2026 Honda Passport trailsport elite (purchased new may 2025) has repeated, intermittent failures of the electrical system and drive-power (propulsion) function, beginning at ~16,700 miles. Severe symptoms first appeared in may 2026: multiple dashboard warning lights and error messages illuminating at once, and the instrument panel cutting in and out while driving. Sometimes a cascade of warnings precedes a failure; at other times the vehicle loses power or stalls with no warning at all. On July 4, 2026, the vehicle lost all drive power and shut down while I was driving ~75 mph on the highway, creating a substantial risk of a collision and of being struck by surrounding traffic. On four occasions (5/15/26, 5/22/26, 5/31/26, 7/9/26) it stalled immediately after being shifted into reverse. On multiple occasions it failed to start or had no electrical power, stranding me while traveling with my children. Additional failures: the driver's door intermittently will not lock or unlock, the exterior mirrors fail to fold and must be moved by hand, and the seat memory resets without input. Because the failures are intermittent, neither dealer could reproduce the condition on demand. The waco, TX dealer (6/1/26) could not duplicate the concern and performed no repair. The lufkin, TX dealer (6/8/26) said it could find nothing wrong, replaced the battery, and the failures continued unchanged. No specific failed component has been identified. The vehicle has been inspected only by Honda's authorized dealers. It has not been inspected by police, insurance, or an independent service center, as no crash has occurred. No crash or injury has occurred, but a vehicle that loses power at highway speed and stalls in reverse creates a substantial crash risk. The vehicle is in my possession and available for inspection upon request, along with video of several failures and dealership repair records.
The seat memory of the vehicle will reset itself every few days. This is while using the same key fob and driver profile. Android auto does not stay connected wired or wireless. This is after the vehicle has been factory reset, new cables used and phone reset. Buzzing/ grinding noise while breaking blind spot sensors do not beep while the setting is activated to beep.
On 05/05/2026 I was driving my 2026 Honda Passport, while driving I suddenly had multiple warning lights display. The following alerts popped up on my dash, electric power steering problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, trailer assist system problem, collision mitigation system problem, hill descent system problem. Once these alerts popped up, I immediately took vehicle to dealership. While in route to dealership, all of the lights reset, and the dealer completed a diagnostic and informed me that they could not find any codes or issues. On 05/06/2026c I was driving this same vehicle, traveling approximately 40 mph. While traveling all of the same lights re-appeared and I lost all steering to the vehicle, I almost crashed the vehicle and was almost hit by other vehicles, while trying to slow the vehicle, due to not having any steering to the vehicle. I was able to get the vehicle to stop, and immediately had it towed to the dealership. This vehicle has approximately 4,632 miles. The dealership has not notified me what the issue is text but this vehicle is dangerous. If this issue is not resolved or a recall conducted for this issue, people are going to get seriously injured or killed. Currently I am employed as a deputy us marshal, and was a prior police officer for 12 years. My only reason in stating this, is I have bared witness to many fatality accidents in my years as a law enforcement officer, and quite frankly I do not feel comfortable in letting my wife drive this vehicle, with my children in it. This issue is going to get people hurt.
At red light, foot on break, car in drive. Light turns green, I go to drive off. Car puts itself in neutral, dash says “shift to park”, I try to press to put it in drive, it won’t shift to “d”. I put it in park. Turned the vehicle off, car wouldn’t restart. Kept trying, wouldn’t start. Held my finger on the push to start for ~1 minute, it did not want to start at all. It was spitting trying to start, very very hesitant was in accident on 2/26/26 l front (driver side) was damaged since accident, I have had issues even though car was repaired.
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle stalled. The message to start the vehicle was displayed. The vehicle was shifted into park(p), the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that the failure had occurred ten times in the month of July. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty battery, and the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred approximately one week later. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
My instrument cluster lite up all kind of problems like road departures mitigation systems problems, transmission problems, brakes system problems, collision mitigation systems problems, auto high beams problems, lane keeping assist problems and adaptive cruise control problems.

After having constant issues with the idle stop and the car alarm going off in the middle of the night and day for no apparent reason I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. After supposedly fixing the idle stop, about two weeks later I was going up a ramp during a heavy traffic hour and the car completely shot down. It took me a few minutes to get it back on. I’ve had issues with this car from day one (brand new). I’m currently trying to get another car.
Radio/screen/back-up camera do not turn on or turn off randomly and unexpectedly when driving. Usually receive a crackling sound and a most off network message before black screen. Upon initial start up of vehicle, a driver sets car to reverse relying and expecting a functional view of rear camera on screen. This issue makes backing up safety features unreliable.
The infotainment screen on my 2022 Honda Passport is constantly blacking out or freezing up. In addition to no use of radio or gps when this happens, there is also no backup camera or rear cross traffic warning. This creates a safety issue. The vehicle has been to the dealer twice. While they can see the problem, they indicated there's no fault code, therefore they don't know know how to proceed with a repair. I opened a case with Honda customer service but was told they couldn't do anything and I need to talk to the service manager at the dealer, or just go to a different dealer or Honda service center.
Every so often, while waiting at a light, once I try to press the gas, the car will stall and loses power. It takes me turning the car off and back on several times before getting the car to stay on and accelerate.
Even after recall repairs the vehicle continues to randomly display error messages with vehicle systems while driving. It has been cleared several times and battery changed but continues to return. This model has serious issues with the electrical components.
My vehicle has experienced multiple dangerous incidents where it shuts down or shifts into neutral while driving. This has happened on highways, tunnels, busy on-ramps and main streets. The car loses power and requires restarting, which takes about 30 seconds. On a busy highway or street, this is enough time for a serious accident to occur if other vehicles cannot switch lanes on time. This has happened multiple times with my child in the car, and me being currently pregnant. The vehicle has never given me a warning prior. The issue appears to be related to the auto start/stop system and/or electrical drivetrain controls. The vehicle is unsafe to operate because the driver can forget to disable auto start/stop and the car can suddenly lose power in traffic. There was also a separate incident (in between the multiple incidents above) where I was on the highway, my car accelerated, brakes wouldn't work, and my foot wasn't on the gas. The car then shifted to neutral and the only way I could stop was by shutting it off and moving to the breakdown lane. There have been two repair attempts. The first repair was done in 2024 after the initial loss-of-power incident related to the auto start/stop feature. In this repair, the battery was replaced and I was told a full diagnostic was run and the car was safe to drive. On 11/11/25 the serious incident with acceleration/ loss of brake function on the highway occurred. A full diagnostic was run and the transmission was replaced under warranty. However, a month after the transmission replacement, the loss of power issue returned. It has now been at least 4 incidents since the transmission was changed. I reported this to Honda corporate and received a case number, but despite multiple attempts to receive an update over the past 2 months, I have not been contacted by Honda, and no resolution has been provided. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and no longer trust further repairs.
Honda has a recall on certain VIN numbers for the starter. My starter I was told to replace at a $2500 fee from reggie jackson Honda in raleigh nc. I had to visit the dealership 3 times, they said its the battery, replaced the battery at my cost, now they said its the starter. They said there is a recall but my VIN number was not included in the recall. The starter is worn out from the auto start and stop feature at stop lights. My issue is it will stop at a stop light and it wont start again then a warning comes on the screen about collision detection issue, then the warning goes away quickly and eventually I will get it to start but it is a safety issue that Honda is aware of. I am asking Honda to do partial credit on repair costs, but I dont understand why my VIN number was excluded. The managers name was ruben lopez who informed me that the starter is causing issues, and sometimes its the battery, but that my VIN wasnt covered. I just want my vehicle to not get stuck at after stopping in traffic when Honda knows of the issue it should be covered for a lifetime warranty or recall. The stopping issue where it wont start again happens approximately 1 time per month, and seems to be in warmer weather but I cannot confirm this nor do I keep an exact log of when it happens. Thank you.
The starter failed to start the car due to what is described as a "frozen starter". A TSB exists for Honda where the problem is acknowledged, TSB 23-023. This left me stranded in the cold on 1/26 and 1/27. Many other drivers of similar vehicles have reported this problem in the past week. The problem is uniquely and disconcertingly dangerous as the problem impacts drivers who are in freezing conditions which can be inherently life-threatening if a known issue exists with a "frozen starter", this problem cannot be rectified by vehicle maintenance, for example, having a new battery or jump starter does not fix the problem. This problem strikes drivers in freezing and life-threatening conditions and is inherently unsafe and hazardous. The vehicle has not been inspected as Honda would not honor rectifying this issue for an "out of warranty" vehicle despite widespread concern. There were no warnings or messages prior to the problem. They first appeared in freezing cold after a precipitation event.
2022 Passport was driven from indianapolis in to naperville IL on the evening of Jan 24th experiencing snowy and freezing conditions. Car was left overnight outside and would not start on the morning of the 25th. Warning lights displayed were battery and flashing engine light, one click on start up but no other noises. On the morning of the 26ths aaa provided services to try and jump the battery and eventually had to tow vehicle to valley Honda aurora IL for service. Vehicle under went troubleshooting on the morning of the 28th after being left outside. Vehicle still refused to start tech suggested replacement of starter or iaw Honda service bulletin 23-010 and 23-023 letting vehicle starter thaw. Vehicle was brough inside into a warm environment overnight and started on Thursday the 29th. There were no prior indicators of issues until the morning of the 25th.
Car shuts down and does not restart. Also goes to neutral and does not allow car to be steered. Also seems to be related to auto restart.
The safety features connected to the camera and vehicle sensors have all stopped working. Every time I start my car, multiple lights come on and dashboard messages that cruise control, lane assist and collision prevention systems are not working. The dealership quoted me $2300 to fix and said new sensors/computer system would need to be put in and calibrated. I tried putting a new battery in, which unfortunately did not help. I have heard of multiple other Passport drivers having this issue.
