When I press the brake pedal to start the car (sometimes) it will no go down it is hard. Have to do this 5 times to get the car to start. This has happened numerous time. I brought it to the dealer and they did not find anything wrong 2 or 3 times. I have changed the battery and tried the spare key fob. They both do it.

My car is equipped to cut off when you come to a stop. It has failed to restart after taking your foot off the brake a couple of times, and it has been slow to restart many times.

The auto engine idle is failing to properly restart the vehicle. After coming to a complete stop the vehicle will not restart on its own. I have to put the vehicle in park, wait a few minutes and then push the start button to restart the vehicle. The vehicle will be available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others has been put at risk numerous times. The vehicle has failed to restart mid-intersection in heavy traffic. , on the highway during stop and go traffic, and at stop lights. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance company. No prior warning signs, messages or lamps have appeared before the problem.

The vehicle was unable to restart after the auto idle stop engaged at a stoplight, shutting the engine off. Upon release of the brake, the engine did not restart and the car was left stranded for several hours in the middle of a large intersection putting the driver at risk. The car was unable to be restarted and stranded for over two hours until police were able to clear a safe path and have the car towed to the nearest service center. There were no warning indicators or service lights prior to this occurrence. The authorized Honda service center found that the battery was drained and the auto idle stop had engaged while the car battery was low, leaving the car stranded and unable to be restarted.

Since I purchased this car in 2020, I have regularly experienced my car stalling out because of the auto idle function. The car shuts off when I brake and then does not turn back on, leaving me stranded in traffic until I can manually shut off my car and turn it back on. This is a major safety hazard that Honda has yet to properly address. Honda had a recall to "fix" this, which was just a software update. This was conducted 5/12/2023 on my car. Unfortunately, today (5/20/2023) my car stalled out again at a traffic light due to the auto idle function. Honda needs to address this issue, and if they cannot, then they need to provide those with defective models a path to upgrade their car.

I was driving at 60mph and the entire dash went blank for about 30seconds. There was no speedometer, warnings, no display at all. After about 30 seconds the tach showed back up followed by the gear indicator and speedometer with the drivers information center showing up last. This happened on Sunday 5/7/23 this has happened once before but it was brief and I wasn’t sure it had actually happened. This time I saw it go blank and watched the whole process of it coming back on.

Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance warning lights pop-up sporadically on the dashboard. I have had the car serviced at several different Honda dealerships 5 plus times and every time they say that the reason why the warning lights pop up is because the battery is defective. I've only had the car for a couple of months in the battery has been replaced three times. The warning lights on the car and the battery dying and needing to be replaced by aaa and Honda at least three separate times has been a concern for me from the moment I got the car. March of this year. I filed a lemon law complaint with the state of florida where I purchased sorry where I am leasing the vehicle from but I have relocated to the state of kansas and have also filed a lemon law complaint with the attorney general in the state of kansas and I've also contacted Honda America who is the leaseholder. This car is a lemon and I want my money back.

The radio stops and pauses. At times the radio and phone are unusable. When it does come back on the volume is very loud and is shocking . Please see NHTSA id # 10198172.

Radio system is making cracking noise and audio cuts in and out which requires it to be turned off in order to get it to stop. The noise can be startling and the need to unplug audio and turn unit on and off creates a safety issue. From my research this appears to be a common problem with these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the fuel saving feature activated; however, the vehicle would not restart after releasing the brake pedal. The contact manually restarted the vehicle and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,400.

With the idle-stop activated, the engine shut down while stopped at a red light. However, when I disengaged the brake and tried to push the gas pedal to start, the car did not restart. It went "dead. " I had to attempt to restart the car, and it took multiple attempts to get it to restart. I ultimately had to put the vehicle in park and then re-start the engine manually once the 2020 Passport "re-set" itself. This was dangerous, as I was in a very active intersection at dusk/night and the Passport became hard to see as the electrical system + engine shut down and would not restart promptly with cars trying to go through the green light.

Vehicle engine keeps stopping while in drive and puts itself in neutral and turn offs, metal flying around the engine, vehicle jumps and makes loud rattling noise, vehicle electrical issue all components turned themselves off, catalyst converter and several other vehicle issues alarm safety , vehicle gets stuck on hill.

With auto stop/start disabled as this feature regularly fails, stopped to turn left and car shifted itself into neutral, could not be shifted into drive or restarted for a few minutes despite multiple attempts. If car had auto stop start feature engaged, this often happens, which has been reported, but this time it happened without that feature on. Luckily we were turning from a parking lot so did not hold up traffic or have risk of being hit.

On 01/24/2023 with idlestop engaged car stalled on busy intersection during rush hour and couldn't be restarted. Since Honda vehicles don't have a shift interlock anymore we couldn't move vehicle since it automatically went into "park". Car is currently at the dealer who is unable to do repairs due to lack of ecu modules.

Vehicle fails to start intermittently after short stops. Needed jump start after it goes into accessory mode. Battery and charging system are good (12. 6/14. 1 volts). Battery is new, was replaced 10/2022.

At a stop light, the auto engine idle kicked in. When the light turned green, and I took my foot off the brake pedal, the engine did not stop. I put the car in park and tried to restart. It would not restart at all. I was there for at least 15 minutes trying to turn the car back on and off. It finally did start but caused lots of traffic and was dangerous for everyone. This should not be happening to a new car.

On several occasions engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the auto start/stop function engaged. Car shifts itself into neutral and cannot be restarted by pressing start button. It required jump was required for the vehicle to restart once. Usual work around posted by Honda is to put car in park and then attempt to press start button. Crash was avoided once in heavy traffic.

The auto stop/start feature has on multiple occasions failed to restart once the foot is taken off of the brake. The Passport's engine will stall, and the vehicle goes into neutral. The engine is completely dead and will not immediately restart. This has happened multiple times in traffic and is a safety concern. I have had the Passport looked at by a Honda dealership. They advise that there are no error codes and advised me to replace the battery, but could not guarantee that a new battery would eliminate the issue. I am concerned about my family driving this vehicle due to this issue.

With less than 1,000 miles this car had to go in multiple times for a radio electrical issue, floor harness, ip harness etc replaced. Now at 60,000 I’m getting transmission failure faults where my car will stall out and not engage. Huge safety issue. Now I’m waiting 2 weeks to get into a dealership.

When the auto engine idle is engaged (which is the default setting), when you stop, the engine idle works as advertised, then after a few moments the car will totally shut off and place itself in neutral. After several failed attempts, the only way to restart it, is to press and hold the start button and holding the brake pedal. This cars maintenance has been completed on time and solely by the dealership. This is a very scary issue because it can cause serious harm to the passengers in the vehicle as well as other vehicles on the road. This will most definitely cause an accident. We were in stop and go traffic on the highway in the fast lane and the whole car shut off and as traffic began to move, my car wouldn't go there was a moment of panic as I quickly tried to get the car to start back up it took a while to get it to restart. We were fortunate there was no collision for us with this incident but my young children are now very afraid to ride in the car because it might shut off again and we could get hurt.

I was in a stop and go situation at a stop light when I decided to turn the auto stop/start off. The car froze up on me in the middle of traffic. It turned off, could not turn it back on, the brakes locked up and a lot of lights turned on my dash. After a couple of minutes I was able to turn the car back on.

Several times, the car shuts off at stop lights or stop signs. It has a feature that is supposed to save gas and put it into low power mode. But sometimes, especially if I take my foot off the break and press on the gas too quickly, the car completely shuts off and goes into neutral. This is very dangerous. Once I was on a hill when this happened and the car began rolling down and I nearly hit another vehicle. I have seen hundreds of other such complaints on the Honda pilot. This is it's cousin, the Honda Passport and likely has the same power failure. Honda needs to recall these immediately before someone gets hurt. (it may also be related to the distance calculator being incorrect on my car. It often says I have over 1,000 miles left on my single tank. ) there is for sure something wrong.

My car has an automatic stop start. I came to a full stop at a red light and the engine automatically turned off. The light turned green and I depressed the gas pedal and nothing happened, in other words the engine did not turn on. Within a few minutes, I could turn the engine back on although sitting stalled at a light on a high speed expressway was dangerous.

Auto engine idle has an inconsistent issue with not restarting. When at a full stop, the engine goes to neutral and does not restart. This has left me temporarily stranded while I attempt a full restart. The dealer claims to not being able to duplicate the issue. The battery has consistently tested fine. I now manually shut off this option before driving.

The radio started to "crackle or skip" while using apple carplay. The crackle noise continued after audio had been paused. Our safety was at risk because the noise was very distracting. I needed to take my hand off the wheel to unplug my phone to stop the noise. The equipment has not been inspected. The only sign of failure were small cracks that were much more intermittent, compared to constant crackling that I am experiencing now.

Problem with the auto start/stop. Auto start/stop caused the car to completely shut off at a stoplight and the car would not restart. I tried applying the break and re-starting the car using the start button, but the car did not respond. The car was completely inoperable for at least 15 minutes and left us stranded at a busy intersection. The auto start/stop will often shut down the car completely at stops and it will not restart automatically. There were no warnings prior to shut down. I've only had this car a few months and it has happened twice in two months. I am forced to turn the auto start/stop feature off every time I get in the car now.

SUV randomly unable to shift out of park. Push-button electronic shifter rendered useless. Car cannot be manually put into neutral for towing because Honda does not provide its customers with the tool. They apparently will sell it to you for $200+ dollars if they even have or are willing to give you one. Warning for transmission system and blind spot systems both appeared. No other codes or indicator prior or at incident.

The vehicle stalls after the auto-shutoff/idle is engaged. As I lift my foot off the break pedal to disengage it, the car shuts off and indicates that it has been placed in park mode. I then have to turn the vehicle back on. It can take up to 25-30 seconds. I only ever have issues restarting the vehicle after it stalls as a result of the auto-shutoff being engaged.

3x in the last 6months my Passport has failed to start after the auto stop at idle has engaged. The dealership said the battery is fine and one technician just said “disable the feature “. Today when adaptive cruise control was engaged, the car increased in speed from the set 72 to over 80mph. I also emailed Honda corp and their response was to see a dealer and did not acknowledge if the auto stop/start issue was known for other vehicles.

I stopped at red-light and the auto stop idle was engaged. Once the light changed, and I removed my foot from the brake to disengage the auto idle, unexpectedly the gear just shifted to neutral . I then had put it in park , and press the ignition start button . It took a couple times before restarting. I had to endure other drivers honking and yelling at me, because I was the 1st car at the stop light. This has happened at least 8-10 times in the past 4 months. After having my vehicle for 3 days, the dealer said they couldn't find the problem . Wih road rage what it is in these times, something like that could spark alot of frustration in other drivers. I have read blogs about other Honda Passport owners having the same issue. Honda really needs to find out what the issue is before someone gets into an accident because of this issue!.

When driving at any speed vehicle computers (system and entertainment) loose communication and malfunction, causing loss of display and function. This loss of communication causes a loud crackling & popping noise to be generated by the system through the vehicle speakers. This problem persist while driving until the vehicle is stopped, turned off and door opened. Research on Honda internet forums has revealed thousands of postings from owners with the same and similar problems. I have taken this vehicle to Honda service more than 3 times. Each time was told a manufacturing defect in wiring harness of the most system is the cause. Each repair has been unsuccessful in permanently correcting the defect. This problem, being random and tied to rough terrain or road bumps can happen at anytime. When this happens it is a major distraction. When system error many warnings are flashes and various vehicle features stop functioning. This affect drive system, safety system and entertainment system. It is unknown if safety systems would function when this problem is actively happening. This is the scary part of it. I have given Honda every opportunity to fix the problem. They tell me it is not a recall but is covered under an "extended service period" due to this known issue. I have seen many technical service bulletins pertaining to this issue. This needs to be elevated to a recall. I do have videos of this malfunction.

Popping crackling noise from dashboard screen went blank sporadic occurrences when driving with radio on and off dealer says no codes found?.

Frequent shutdown of center display panel to a black screen with "most network failure" message posted. System repeatedly tries to reboot. Sometimes requires a restart to recover.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving the 49 mph they noticed their radio suddenly went off and the vehicle's instrument panel blacked out. The vehicle's horn no longer functioned properly. The vehicle's windows failed to open and close and the vehicle turned completely off in the middle of the highway losing all power. The contact stated this caused an oncoming vehicle to end up rear-ending them. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed. A police report was made. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who were informed by the manufacturer that they were not to proceed forward with any diagnosing or repairs for the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case regarding the matter. The failure mileage 3,627.

When using the audio system (apple airplay, bluetooth, sirius navigation, or fm radio), the speakers or radio will at some point start to crackle and make noises similar to static noise, like wires sparking. Which causes the music to cut out and shut off completely. Our safety is at risk because the noise is very distracting, it is very annoying, it makes me nervous and angry because it becomes unbearable. I have to stop and turn off the car, turn it back on because I can't use music or browser or anything. I took it to the dealer where I bought it and they told me that it was a factory defect due to poorly installed cables. That creak is now constant that the car is barely drivable in those conditions. The equipment has not been inspected. I was never warned about this defect of the car. And I am sure I am overpaying for this car for it to have such a major and obvious issue.
