Car feels sluggish and delays accelerating when driven. Occasionally will make a strange sounds when trying to accelerate. 2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 02/16/2025

I was exiting a highway onto another highway. It was a pretty sharp exit to the right. The vehicle lost engine power, and I couldn't travel greater than about 40 miles/hour. The vehicle would not respond to my pressing the accelerator. Upon getting off the exit onto the next highway, I immediately pulled over and shut the vehicle off. I waited a few minutes before restarting the vehicle. Once I restarted the vehicle, it was back to normal. There were no further issues for the rest of the drive (about 90 miles). This has happened 3-4 times since I purchased the vehicle.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 11/09/2024

On Nov 9, 2024 I was pulling into a parking spot in a public parking garage, after turning 2 tight corners to approach the parking spot. About half way into the parking spot, the car suddenly lurched and accelerated and I crashed into a 90 degree concrete corner wall! it happened so fast, without any warning sounds or abs brakes deploying. The entire front passenger corner of my car was badly damaged. Luckily I was not injured, nor were there any other vehicles or persons involved. It is just not possible that I could have personally pulled into a parking spot at such a high speed as to cause such extreme damage to the vehicle! I drove the vehicle to a body shop on 11/11/24, which was one recommended by my insurance company. The vehicle was inspected by the body shop, which was directly in contact with my insurance company. I did ask the shop to make sure the mechanic checked for any safety issues during repair, as I was concerned as to the cause of the accident. I have an impeccable driving record and I cannot explain how such an accident could happen! I had no issues with the car previously. Upon further inspection into the damage, on 1/3/25 it was finally evaluated as a total loss, as there was damage to the frame and other issues! I did receive a statement on 1/3/25 from the body shop that there was a "fault in the system, causing gas pedal lock, which might be cause of accident". I felt I had to report this possible issue that resulted in a total loss and obviously could have injured myself, others or other vehicles!.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 10/27/2024

The engine transmission surges as it changes gears probably due to the fuel pump recall issue. This surging and/or delay motion is worsening. The recall notice has been in place for over 2 years and local Honda dealership is still unable to acquire the replacement parts.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

I have encountered two types of brake issues: 1) my vehicle seems to flash brake occasionally when oncoming vehicles pass by for no reason - they are not entering my lane or doing anything that should cause the message to flash. The vehicle type does not seem to matter - they have been old and new models, and have been both cars and trucks. My vehicle has only visually warned, but does not engage brakes, so no further safety issue is involved. It has done it frequently on some days and then none for awhile. We have tried to make note of vehicle type and model for consistency, but have not found any. 2) if my vehicle has its cruise control on (which is often) and a vehicle in front of me moves into a left-turn lane to turn - often with plenty of notice - my vehicle will engage it’s brakes and slow down even though there is no danger of hitting the other vehicle. So long as I take it out of cruise control, it will continue on driving. I suspect that if cruise control is not disengaged, it could fully brake and cause a bigger issue of an injury or accident.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 02/08/2024

Shortly after our purchase we started having issues with the vehicle, the backup camera is not functioning, the backup sensors are not functioning, the collision mitigation is braking abruptly while we are driving even when there are no objects in the surrounding area nearly causing us two accidents, our dashboard display has no function and the display flashes off and on. My nephew suffers from epilepsy, and he is unable to commute in my vehicle because the flashing colorful display lights trigger epileptic episodes. My partner has driven the vehicle when the vehicle’s braking system is abruptly initiated, the first time his chest was slammed into the steering wheel of the vehicle and the second time his head was slammed into the sun visor. I have taken my vehicle in several times because the car breaks abruptly while driving. The last time I took it in I injured my left arm and shoulder when the vehicle abruptly stopped, and my partner was slammed into the steering wheel while driving to work on the freeway. We had another incident where my partner's head was slammed into the sun visor. When I took my vehicle in, I was told there was there were no error codes then shortly after I received a notification regarding a recall for the issue I was having. We completed the recall, and we are still having the same issue. Yesterday 02/08/24 when I was driving home from work my car abruptly stopped/braked in the rain with no cars in front or to the side of me and I banged my knee on the side of the center counsel. While driving the vehicle will either brake or stall and will not accelerate while driving regardless of whether we are on the street or the freeway. This issue has become dangerous, and I would like to resolve this as soon as possible to avoid further injury to my partner and myself. There have been multiple incidents since the purchase of our vehicle on 01/24/23, all service repair attempts have been completed through norm reeves Honda west covina.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 11/27/2023

Transmission, radio, and automatic braking system. Transmission lags when going slow. From a stop on a hill, the car did not accelerate when the gas pedal was pushed, almost causing a crash as I merged into oncoming traffic. It felt like it did not go into gear properly or was not recognizing the gears. Dealership advised it was the design of the transmission and not something they can fix. Auto brake sensors pick up cars that are not there, braking while driving. Especially noticeable on windy roads, though it has started to happen at stop lights. Radio has static and flashes white when operating with bluetooth connection (android product). Dealership recognizes and was able to replicate the sluggish feeling at low speeds, attempted to fix stereo (didn't work), and did not replicate the slow accelerate from a hill, but stated that there are issues with the transmission design.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 12/26/2022

We were driving at 55mph and every warning light came on. It quickly decelerated to 20mph then wouldn't shift from first gear. We were in an area where there was no places to pull over. We pulled over and the car wouldn't shift from park. We were told to let it sit 15min then try again. After 20 min the car worked normally. The computer system deletes all the errors once it sits. The dealership says there is nothing wrong. This is the 2nd time it's done it. We were told to check the battery. It's new and we do not trust this vehicle. If it does it on the freeway it would be catastrophic. Honda needs to fix this problem. The crash avoidance also says to brake at every car in the opposite lane. I purchased a code reader to try and save all the codes when the car acts up.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 10/10/2022

The vehicle stopped measuring speed accurately, resulting in all safety features and multiple vehicle measurements becoming non functional. The vehicle was towed to fowler Honda, norman ok. Diagnostics revealed the sensor bolt had backed out and the sensor had backed out (code c0039-62). The sensor and bolt were installed correctly and all systems functioned again. I was travelling at interstate highway speed of 70 mph when this occurred. The vehicle remained operable, but the alarms, display warnings and lack of accurate speed indication resulted in very confusing and troubled driving until I successfully exited the highway.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 10/08/2022

Incident occurred immediately after a full stop at an intersection. When I hit the gas pedal, the transmission sounded like shifting to neutral gear, resulting in loud grinding, and with complete loss of power. Had do pull over the shoulder, place it on parking mode and then back to drive gear and continue. Now almost every time it's going to shift gears, you can hear and feel the a hard shifting gears.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 05/24/2022

3x in the last 6months my Passport has failed to start after the auto stop at idle has engaged. The dealership said the battery is fine and one technician just said “disable the feature “. Today when adaptive cruise control was engaged, the car increased in speed from the set 72 to over 80mph. I also emailed Honda corp and their response was to see a dealer and did not acknowledge if the auto stop/start issue was known for other vehicles.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Honda Passport

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Honda Passport

Vehicle braking heavily and unexpectedly on highway and interstate due to defective Honda sensing group input data (radar, camera, on-board software creating dangerous situation) at high speeds (60-70mph).

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

While vehicle is in motion I've experienced issues with collision mitigation system braking the vehicle when a vehicle is coming toward me in the opposite lane (oncoming traffic). This occurs while I'm driving the vehicle. I've taken to the dealer and the issue was not replicated. It does occur intermittently. I've experienced issues with the infotainment system too. The entire system freezes and becomes inoperable. It does not correct until vehicle is parked, turned off, driver door opened, then vehicle restarted. Lastly, the auto idle features consistently does not engage. I have the system randomly engage when I'm parking my vehicle in the garage. Again, all of these issues have been reported to the dealer providing service and remain unresolved since they can not be duplicated at service appointment.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 06/23/2020

I have has consistent problems with the braking system. It will brake and/or show the warning when nothing is there. The jerking of this has caused me to get in an accident June 2020 while moving to a new duty station. It was raining and there were no other cars on this highway thankfully. It was scary and I was even going below the speed limit. This caused my car to become nearly uncontrollable. My children and I were fortunately unharmed, but pretty shaken up. I had everything repaired and the same thing still happens to this day. That was only about 3 months after I purchased my car. I hear a lot of rattling as if something has come undone inside. Many times when I am driving I can feel the car jerk to a certain side or forward. That issue almost caused another accident in Feb 2021. I was backing out of a parking spot with plenty of room between myself and the other cars. My braking warning came on and it stopped my car. Then immediately it jerked back aggressively and almost hit a car behind me. Soon after I managed to back out and shift into drive, it jerked forward while stopping then jerking again. Although it is not all of the time, it has happened enough to cause accidents and almost a lot more. I think the 2019 Honda Passport should be looked into more and corrected. As these issues should not be happening.

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

I was driving on the highway at 65mph. All of a sudden the vehicle started to slow down at a very fast rate cutting my speed in half. 2 errors appeared on the dashboard. "transmission problem, apply parking brake when parked. " and "blind spot info system problem. " luckily I was able to pull over just in the right time, but the vehicle was starting to get very hard to control while steering as this was all happening. The vehicle started to control me meaning j almost couldn't steer it where it needed to go and I could not accelerate at all on the highway. The vehicle kept slowing down. I was on the shoulder of the highway around a sharp turn and I was terrified that someone would slam right into me. It took a tow truck 1 hour to arrive. The dealer has never heard of this issue before. I'm waiting to hear back from them as they still have m vehicle. Wilde Honda waukesha, WI.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1998 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 01/16/2010

2 weeks ago I was sitting at a light, my foot on the brake, when the brake moved under my foot. Then the gas revved like the gas pedal was being held down. I could barely keep the car from ramming the car stopped ahead of me. I put both my feet on the brake and put my car in neutral and turned the key off. After I restarted the car it was normal. Definitely the most harrowing experience I've ever had! my vehicle is an 1998 Honda Passport, not a Toyota. Could it have the same parts? I'm afraid to drive it now.
