Failure Date: 01/15/2010

For the past two years, there has occurred approximately ten unintended accelerations in my 1998 Honda Passport. (isuzu) this occurs mainly in a stop and go situation when driving in heavy traffic. The rpm's suddenly shoot up to about 6000, and just as suddenly decrease. The rear wheels spin while I am holding the brake down. On the last occasion, I had it in park and the acceleration occurred again. I have taken it into the isuzu people and Honda people and they could not find the cause, nor correct the problem.

8 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 1998 Honda Passport

Failure Date: 05/31/1998

On occasion when we step on the brakes, the car will suddenly accelerate. Tho I have complained numerous times, Honda cannot duplicate therefore will not do anything to resolve it. I am afraid someone is going to get killed with the car. Still have 6 months before lease is up and they won't buy out the lease or take the car back. Its very dangerous and I have witnesses who have seen it happen. Twice we have had accidents with it, twice I've gone through lights, once I hit a sidewalk trying to park because it jumped. I have 3 children and am afraid one of them will be hurt. This is a safety issue I'm concerned about - and its like they don't care or believe me. I didn't know where else to turn.
