Takata recall my driver's airbag light is on constantly. Is there a recall to get this fixed?.
My airbag light is on. I had airbags recall done and the mechanics state the light is not related nor do they have record of the recall repair being made. Because it is a red light, the sensor will need to be replaced @ $800 or it will not pass inspection. Just wanted to let people know in the event this happens to more people too. Just strange the service to airbags coresponds with this light. We also found a screw in driver side floorboard after the recall repair.
I brought my 2004 Honda Pilot to a authorized Honda dealership for the airbag recall and with 2 hours the airbag light came on. I told the vehicle back to the dealership and they told me my airbag unit had failed and needed to replaced for $800. The vehicle had no airbag issue until the takada cannister was replaced, which I understand the new unit is not compatable with the 2004 airbag control unit. Both the dealer and american Honda have denied any responsibility for the replacement of the unit and I have been driving my Honda Pilot for the last 2 months with my family with no operational airbag system! extremely unprofessional and unsafe!.

On evening of 3-25-07, airbag light came on. 3-27-07, went to dealer -computer out. Part ordered-to be in 3/29. Come pick up car. Did so - drove in fear. 3/29- part not in until 4/3. Told no rental car as car is drivable (under warranty). Called national/zone - agreed with this. Told car is drivable. Would not tell me car is safe but that is Honda's policy. That if the car is drivable - they do not give a rental. So- to me - Honda is saying my life and that of my family is not their problem and it's up to me to get a rental. The car is drivable but not safe and possibly dangerous. I am the medical provider for a large brain injury rehab facility. I don't want to have more clients due to Honda's policy!!! if the car is unsafe or dangerous - it is not drivable!!!! a rental car should be supplied. I would like to see Honda held accountable for their policy and feel that it goes against NHTSA beliefs. Airbags are their for a reason but Honda doesn't feel they are necessary.
