1 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vsa light and the tire pressure warning lights illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal but the brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

2 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

The vsa light comes on, and brakes suddenly engage without warning, and without brake lights.

3 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

My daughter was driving our family's 2005 Honda Pilot. She applied the brake lightly which resulted in excessive breaking in the left front wheel and then appearance of the vsa light. I brought the vehicle to the Honda dealer who first indicated there was no recall and then indicated there was a vsa wire harness recall (NHTSA 13v-092) but that it did apply the vsa light going on and therefore had nothing to do with the recall. A vsa light diagnostics which I independently paid for indicated a yaw rate failure code (25-01). This light vsa light has continued to intermittently go on and off with an intermittent contemporaneous relationship to braking. On 2/25/15 my daughter was driving the vehicle on the highway (no vsa light on), applied the brakes lightly and the car braked severly even once her foot was off the brake and pulled the car in the same front right direction as before forcing her to swerve along side a passing truck. The vsa light went on after the event occurred. Calling the Honda dealer today, the service manager indicated that Honda does not have a recall on this matter once the part for the 13v-092 recall was replaced. In reviewing safer car. Gov NHTSA campaign id number dp12002 it describes well what has occurred twice and which has not been corrected by the recall service performed. I have also contacted Honda USA. I believe Honda has inadequately evaluated the relationship of similarly reported events regarding unexpected car brake assist with mild application of the brake since the vsa wire harness recall repair did not resolve the unexpected and inappropriate vsa/esc/ba system logic response. It is not clear why Honda is not addressing my matter under this recall (NHTSA 13v-092) and the referenced NHTSA dp12002, and further investigating under a known safety recall.

4 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2013

Traveling 45-60 miles per hour, vsa light comes on and vehicle comes to a complete stop, no warning no brake lights nothing, vsa recall has been performed 3 times now, along with yaw rate sensor. After repairs done again on 07/28/2015 lasted until 09/09/2015 when traveling 45 miles per hour and vehicle stopped again almost causing a major accident. Anyone else out there experiencing these difficulties ?.

5 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

2005 Honda Pilot. Consumer writes in regards to unsatisfactory repair service from dealership. The consumer stated the dealer did not clear the (vsa) brake light from the dashboard.

6 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2013

2005 Honda Pilot. Consumer writes in regards to malfunction of alarm system in vehicle. The consumer stated the alarm system went off, while driving. The consumer made every effort, to stop the horns from blaring. Soon after, the vehicle stalled. He put the gear in park and turned off the ignition. He attempted to re-start the vehicle, but it would not go into any gear. The consumer managed to get help, to push the vehicle off the road. The tires would not roll, and shortly thereafter, the brake lights and horns went off, as well as the vsa was lit. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility. The next the day, the same problem occurred, a couple of days later, the consumer received recall notice 13v092000. The description of the recall, described the problem he experienced.

7 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2013

Accelerating at relatively low speed, usually just after stopping, heard audible "pop" through car radio, abs and emergency brake lights came on. Car braked rapidly, even though foot was on accelerator and not touching the brake pedal. Forced car to almost a complete stop. This same sequence of events happened three times within 30 minutes. Pulled car into parking lot and called Honda service dept. They had never heard of this happening and car was towed in to run diagnostics. Service dept drove car around for over three days and was unable to duplicate issue. They had some ideas to cause, but since they couldn't get it to repeat, could not fix anything.

8 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2012

While driving at low speeds (20-50 mph) the car makes a low grinding noise and rapidly brakes/decelerates without the brakes being touched. This has been happening on and off for years; however, recently it has been happening on a daily basis. The driver (myself) and the passengers (usually my two children) in the car lurch forward as the car unexpectedly brakes. The brake lights do not come on when this happens. This is a major safety concern for my family and I. This is our family car and I am very afraid to drive my children anywhere in this car with the frequency of these incidents. In fact, on December 8, 2012 another car almost slammed into the back of us. I have done some research and have found that other 2005 Honda Pilot owners have had the same exact problem.

9 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2012

I had been driving the car for nearly an hour. I came toward a stoplight, put the brakes on, which seemed to function fine. Then when I went to accelerate the car jarred to a shaky stop- almost like the anti-lock brakes were working. I took it home, stopped the care for a few minutes and then decided to take it back out to see if it would happen again. I drove it for about 5 minutes and came to a stop sign. I came to a complete stop and then when I went to turn I accelerated briefly and then the car came to a stop- like someone had stepped on the brakes but I did not step on them. The car never stopped running or never stalled, I just had no acceleration for a moment. I then drove the car immediately to my mechanic down the street from my house. One of the mechanics drove the car with me in it for several minutes and could not get the problem to happen. He dropped me off at my house and when he was accelerating out of my driveway I saw the car come to a complete stop but no brake lights went on at the back of the car. He was able to back into my driveway- the car never shut off and still functioned- and he asked me if that was the issue and I said yes. Since then we have had it a transmission place where the mechanic was not sure what was wrong and we then had it towed to the nearest Honda dealership where we actually purchased the car. They have never heard of this issue either and currently cannot get it to happen to them. And now I have no car and will not drive this car until I know it has been fixed.
